hum....your rats all look amazing. And this video has been a big help in how I follow through on introducing. My girls aren't doing any of this, and I am confused if it is going well or not. They are just.... well ignoring each other is the best way to put it. They sleep in different hammocks, and don't stand near each other. They don't really even notice each other, no sniffing, no looking, no standing, no nothing.

Really glad I saw this. I had no idea you had to keep them separate for a while when adopting new ones. I just started adopting rats yesterday. We adopted two & then went & got another one today but they had already been together at Petsmart. Glad I know this now. 😀

Awesome video! I find that a lot of bonding with small animals seems to involve the same steps! That must have been so hard witnessing such a difficult experience with Iona and the baby. :/ Once upon a time I tried to create a trio with Honey, Rocky and Willow and Willow went right for Honey's throat. A rabbit screaming is a terrifying sound so I know how scary it can be when they don't get along! Uno seems like such a handsome and fluffy boy! I'm glad that he's settling in well with the other ratties! :) How do you come up with their names? They are all so unique! x
You got a good husband to take care of all that...!! Introducing Rats is very difficult I’ve had them for over 30 years ...thank God I’ve never had a death... sometimes screaming NO!!.. also helps..
Yay! I watched this but didn't do all the steps properly... My friends ratties and mine were put on a couch together in a stress-free environment. By the end of two hours, they were snuggling and cleaning each other!
Hello, there 😊 I would like to get four male rats in the near future. However, two of them are from a breeder while the other two are from a shelter. If I get them on the same day and plan on putting them in the same cage, would it be ok to put all four in the cage right away (since neither one of the rats had a chance to mark his territory on the cage yet) or would I use the bathtub method first? Thanks for any help! 😊❤️
Random Rainbow I would say that's great since it's new territory, but make sure you can easily grab them if they fight too aggressively. Hope it works out good 🙂
He is so cute!!!!! I hope he gets better soon :) I'm sure he will. When I had my pet mouse before he got mites and it went away pretty quick. I'm sure he will be better soon. And he is just still so cute!!!!
My RAT sky died leaving pebble luckily I had two 6 weeks in quarantine they where in that stage for 4 weeks and now I'm introducing then with the help of your videos!!
Goodness Uno is one handsome curly boy! I bet he didn't know what hit him when he had all those beautiful ladies to choose from. I hope that he has formed a bond with all the girls now and he's enjoying their company.
My boy Jackson is aggressive toward other rats. He got along with my old rat fine (who passed away not long ago). They did fight sometimes. I recently got a new male rat who is younger than Jackson. I have them in a critter nation with one rat on the bottom and one on top. I have also been switching their blankets so they can get used to each other's scent. When do you think I can finally introduce them?
I have one little girl at the moment as her sister passed away after surgery yesterday. We're completely devastated over losing her. However, I've noticed a huge difference in her sisters behaviour since she's been alone (and it's only been 24 hours) She's extremely sleepy etc and is usually up and about all the time. She's not herself at all. I'm adopting two females from our local rescue centre who have been fostered at the moment. I'm just wondering if you think as they are sisters and already have bonded, that this may be extra difficult for my current girl? Trying to do what's best for her as I don't want her to become isolated in herself.
I wouldn't think so. Rat like being together and hopefully they will love their new home and accept your with open arms. I have siblings that didn't even act like they knew each other
This is such a relief to hear. I am getting a second hand seperate cage just to gradually introduce them to eachother. Thanks so much for your advice and videos!
hey there. I have two adult female rats that are a year old, Ive recently adopted 3 baby girls. i was told they were 8 weeks old however a breeder has told me they may have been a little younger. they have been on their own for going on 3 weeks now and since yesterday i have had their cages side by side and they all seemed quite interested in eachother. today i have put a stinky blanket from eachothers' cage in and the babies had a great time sniffing all about theirs and the big girls had a sniff too. there hasnt seemed to be any aggression so far, they just seem to be interested in eachother. I am a little worried about intros as one baby had a fracture when she was 2 weeks old that went untreated, she was at the vets as soon as i got her and i was told she will probably always have a little bit of a deformity in that leg and he gave me antibiotics for her which have been finished. she is smaller than the other two which is why i worry. my two adult girls do not like being lifted so picking them up to carry them across the house to the bath isnt really doable, i have however bought a savic 95 cage which is all ready for them. would it be silly to try to introduce them all in the new cage? ive never done intros before so i want it to go as safely as possible. thank you
thanks for the tip this will help when I need to introduce a new pair to and old survive. how much do I need to worry about night time squeaking when introducing new rats? Near as I can tell they aren't hurting each other.
hi there. i have two adult girls that are a year old. ive recently got three new babies that were approx 8 weeks old although a seperate breeder believed they were a little younger. ive kept them in seperate cages going on 3 weeks now. their cages are side by side now and ive given them a smelly blanket from eachothers cage which the babies were really interested in and the big girls had a wee sniff too. ive bought a savic royal 95 which is all ready for them all to move in. one of the babies has an old fracture in her front leg from when she was 2 weeks old. when i got her i brought her straight to the vet and was told her leg will always be deformed most likely and gave me some antibiotics for her which has been finished. she is smaller than the other two which i think is why im worried about intros. there hasnt seemed to have been any aggression between any of them so far but how would you recommend i do their intros? my adult girls do not like to be lifted so carrying them across the house to the bathroom to use the bath isnt really an option =( i can get them into the new cage much easier. would it be silly to do first intros there? thanks so much
Does the introduction process change if the rat being introduced has NEVER been with another rat before. 1 year old female neglected by previous owner. She is a total love bug with people but shuts down in fear with other rats. Having trouble getting my two 1 year old females to accept her.
+xBrittanyRx for her it might take a little more time. Maybe having the cages next to each other for a longer time will help her get use to the smell and noise of the others
Great video I know introducing is extremely difficult... Although I did have one rat that took a baby in and she loved it like it was her own child , licked all over ..her introduction was 2 minutes she was the sweetest Rat ever ..I usually put unscented towel on the bottom of the tub and I actually sit in the tub .. with unknown smell clothing...with them , in case if there is any fights ,... the last thing I want is a dead rat...😪 i’ve been very fortunate and raised Rats for over 30 years but I do watch them individually... and the big scream out NO!! Helps... Lol .. My friends and I do enjoy watching your videos.. you’re awesome
I had two boys at first and then decided to expand. I brought home a younger rat who was by himself in a pet store (I felt sorry for him being in such a loud and uncomfortable space with no interaction) I went through the introduction process with all 3 boys... It just didn't work. My older rats would constantly harass him and broke skin more than once. I decided to keep the younger rat by himself as I don't think he really copes with other rats around. He seems more happy in his own section of the critter nation. He plays, boggles and gets all cuddly by himself and then hides behind litter trays and igloos when he's in the presence of other rats.
did you keep trying? Having something similar with my two girls. But we have only been trying for two days. After watching this video we are going to take it slow.
idk why I'm so excited about it but my name is Ingrid and I love and own rats so I'm excited I share a name with a ratty. :) Also very helpful video, thank you!
I just got five 5 week old baby rats, they've been close to the older rats I have. They have been like that for 3 days, when should I try and introduce them all and put them in the bathtub?? Should I wait till the babies get a little older??
Hello, I just had my male rat (jacks) cage mate died due to cancer. I got two more younger male rats to keep him company. I have done the quarenteen and the cage switching. I have recently started introducing them and I am not sure how to exactly go about it. Jack is a dominat male. He was that way with his cage mate as well. When I put them into the new area that they have never been in and Jack starts to box with the younger ones. He also does this thing where he backs up to them and makes them smell him. Can you give me any tips and how to introduce them? I am having a hard time with introducing them its been almost a month and a half with all of the cage switchng and scent smell transfering.
I'm planning to adopt two knew ratties for my own Miso, they will all be boys. This will be my first time introducing rats together, I'm 16, and was wondering when putting them in the bath, how long should it be? and since the two I'm adopting are already attached to each other, I should still do one with miso and then the other then all three correct? how long should I watch them in the bath tub and when I put them in the opposite cage?
I am freaking out right now. I just got a new rat and my old rat will not stop fighting with her. The old rat even took a chunk of fur off of the new one. I am scared and I don't know what to do
Uno's SO cute! All the girls but Mishka and Iona seemed to like him. How old is he? Also, I don't know if a bath tub would work because whenever I put my rat in our tub, he just jumps out, so, how would I do that?
I got 4-5 weeks old brothers and they always kept fighting, bloody. I had to separate them. They live separated and alone for almost 2 years now. I wonder what I did wrong, that they never got along.
I'm trying to introduce my rats, but the new rat, Bobo, is petrified of any kind of noise, not to mention me and the larger, older female rat, Momo. When I've given them a chance to interact in a neutral environment, after having cages next to each other for over a week and switching cages twice, Momo grabs Bobo's skin with her teeth and pulls and Bobo just like screams and struggles and I always break it up because I'm scared someone will get hurt. I don't see Momo making defensive posture, but after like ten minutes, bites or no, Bobo just gets really hunched and I just separate them. Should I just wait it out and let them squabble if no one is getting injured, or is there something else I can do that isn't in the video? What does it mean when Momo bites and pulls, because I've like grabbed her and pulled and she hols on for a few seconds and I can't find anything about it?
Try and let them work it out if no one is getting injured. It sounds like Bobo is depressed and would do better that another rat. Are you sure he is feeling okay?
+RatGirl44 i introduced bobo and momo again today, and after some scuffles they were pretty much what you had in the tub. they seemed curious about eachother more than territorial. if i had known how hard it would be to introduce them i would have totally gotten one of her (bobo's) littermates. sadly, all the other rats she was with are no longer at the store, and the best way to proceed seems to be to just kind of work with my girls and hope for the best? im really very inexperienced with rats and ive been reading as much as i can and trying to do as best i can but my lack of hands on experience is pretty obviously a problem. thanks for the advice, i was getting a lot of mixed messages on what a rat fight was and when i should intervene, and you helped clarify for and reassure me.
this has been the most helpful vid i have found i subscribed you an now im coming too you for answers, do you know how to make any homemade food blocks from scratch at all just wondering? an how much do vets usealy cost to fix a rat?
Danielle Lunsford I do not have a homemade recipe. I am looking into feeding them a faw diet though. If it works out I will post a video about it. It depends on where you live. Some people have told me $50 for a neuter and in my area its around $250 to $300
I'm introducing my girls right now, one adult female and one young female. They're doing OK but they are fighting a bit… no hard biting or blood but the baby squeaks when it happens. Is this normal? I adopted the adult and I don't think she's ever lived with another rat before but the baby lived with others before.
Pls help my albino rat is a biter becayse if I put my finger clise to him without prevoking him anf he bit me and drew blood.is it because they cant see well ive also haf him for four months and he also has a friend who isnt bad at all.
Question- can an adult female rat kill a baby rat in a second, especially a hairless? I am adopting two females and a few babies aswell. The cage aswell as quarantine intro cage will be in my room so I will hear any fighting at night if so. But can an adult kill a baby super quick? Or does it take a bit?
One of my female rats just died, my other female is all alone now and I want to get her another companion but am very nervous about introducing since shes about a year and a half old. Do you think I should just avoid it and have her live alone? Shes very skittish and shy, the slightest noise makes her jump and hide.
+Beatrice Blair it's really up to you. Maybe you could find someone that will let you have a trial run with the new rat and if it doesn't work out then you can give her back
Besides the quarantine rule, do you always have to slowly introduce rats even if they are very young? At what age should you carefully do all of the excess careful introductions? I am very new to owning rats and I want to be as knowledgeable as possible as I may be buying a pair of blue girls soon.
My male rat Trooper I think he gets to excited. I wanted him to socialize with the girls but when he approaches the girls they squeaked and either push him away or run away.. I'm not sure what that means. Help?
Every time I introduce my one male to my other two he screams in fear and runs up to me and hides in my shirt or hair. They haven't even had the chance to sniff him yet. I don't understand why he's so scared of them. 😞
I understand that it is important to do what works best for your rats, but putting the cages next to each other can make them aggressive, because they can see the rats but not work out there differences, this can cause problems later, and I would reccommend the carrier method, because it is proven to reduce injury and such
I have a male that I got from a pet store. He's kinda aggressive. He doesn't like to be handled. I got my other baby from a breeder. What's the best way to introduce them.
I am trying to I trod ice my 7 week old male rat to my two 5 month old male rats (all intact) the haven't fought or anything and it's been about 5 days since I started putting them together in a cage for a little while. is it safe for rats to be that spread out in age?
Hey there! Got a question for you here. I got two boys a few months ago that were littermates and have always been friendly, but (long story short) I bathed one of them to smell differently than the other and before I could bathe the other, they got in a bad fight and I have them separated. Both me and one of the rats got bit real bad in the process (lots of blood for us both). I rigged my cage to separate them - should I go through this process to reintroduce? Is there any reason to suspect the rat may try to bite me again? I'm a first time rat mom and want to be sure my babies are safe and happy.
Did you get bit trying to break up the fight? Or did he just go after you? I have not heard of this happening after a bath? Usually they are to into grooming themselves. I would slowly try and introduce them again. How old are they?
+RatGirl44 they're 6 months old. I was trying to break up the fight and push the aggressor back into the cage. Not smart on my end. I've had them separated in their cage to get used to each other again and was planning to reintroduce in the tub in a couple days.
Hey, I have a 1yo male rat called Twitch and want to get him a friend so I was thinking of another male rat maybe about a month/2 months old.Is there anything I should worry about or keep in mind? Will Twitch potentially kill the other rat?
I got two 9 week old baby boys and I already had 2 boys that are a year and a half one of them is a little agressive . what is the best way to introduce rats that are that big of a age difference.
hey guys, i was wondering if you can give me an advice So, two weeks ago I adopted a baby male rat named David with 2 and a half months from a breeder and it was the last one from that critter so I had to bring him home alone (he is also my first rat). Today I adopted another one named Nico and he is David's half brother, they are from the same father and he is only 4 months, so I thought that the introduction was going to be easy. I put them in a neutral area and they did well, also i went with them to the breeder in a travel carrier and they were sleeping together and everything, but when I put Nico in David's cage, David freaked out and stayed in one corner without moving, eating or drinking and everytime Nico approached him he would squeak. I put them back in a neutral area but again, in the cage David doesn't deal with the situation very well. Any suggestions?
I currently have 2 males that are 3 months old. Can I get another male that is about 6 weeks old and how do I introduce them properly? And can it be any problems if a get a small cage for the baby and put it on top of the current cage so that the current boys get to smell the new guy? How long should I wait until I can keep them in the same cage? :)
What age is best for introductions? I had the idea that if you had an adult a really young baby was best but then found out this may be bad? I have a 3 month old (he's a rescue so not 100% sure) what is an adult count as?
I just got a new rat cos my other rat went into a depression when her cage mate died she gained alot of weight and stop playing all she wanted to do was lay in my lap so she deff needed a new friend. It took me a week to get them to play and not fight but now you cant get them a part lol its great.
When I bought Dapper I knew I wanted to get a second rattie for him to play with, and about 2 months after I got him, I introduced him slowly to a new rat, but Dapper ended up killing the second rat.
I am introducing my 7 week old male to my two 5 month old males (all intact) they haven't fought and they have been In the same cage multiple times, is it safe to leave them all in there for good?
Love your rat cage. My rat almost killed the new baby rat. I took the baby back to the store. I don't know what to do I should be getting my new rat cage tomorrow, my rat is in a tank right know. I'm going to try it again I returned the new rat because she was sick I didn't realize it until I got her home. I don't know what to do. New rat or just keep my one rat ?
Hi I was wondering I want to get another female rat since my only one is alone. Would it be a problem if one is younger than the other one? Mine right now is a years and 2 months.
Does anyone here have advice for introducing a young female rat to 3 adolescent female rats? My most dominant one Juno keeps attacking her. I've tried the vanilla extract and cage swapping but it hasn't seemed to work. There are no puncture woulds but the baby's hair has been ripped out :( They managed to calm down and my other two girls protected her but they will still get into a fight every once in a while. any advice?? Should I remove her or just keep watching?
I'm having trouble with my male rat being introduced to another male rat their finally in a cage together but my first rat is kinda blocking n forcing him to stay in a corner do I still give it more time for them to be together ?
Brenda Bear Are they fighting at all? Drawing blood? Sometime it takes time and sometimes it never works out. I would keep at it for a bit longer as long as there is no blood.
No blood but they do play/ fight can't tell every time my original eat Remy gets on top or the little one Bambie he pins him down kinda nibbles on his fir then Bambie cries out,not sure in in pain or giving up n letting him be the dominant one but they do it every so often the chase each other the eat together don't cuddle don't groom each other they sleep separate I know it will take time but they don't act like other rat videos I've seen
One of my rats just died so now I only have one left, I'm trying to convince my parents to get another one so my 2 year old baby Delilah can have a friend since her friend for life, Airey just died.
BTW the bath tube is what I'll do next time, I think I have already talked to you about this , I can't remember ? sorry if you have already herd my story ,I go to a lot of channel's and sometimes I forget I've already told them about my problem. I want a full grown rat, but they only get babies. I could let the new baby get bigger though before starting the introduction .What do you think. Love how you love your rats.
+RatGirl44 The baby was 7 weeks old. I didn't really know what I was doing even though I've own rats in the past, I've always got two . This situation was very new to me, I returned the baby, and I'm looking for a home for my 2 year old rat. I've bought her a new large cage ,and many tunnel's and hammocks, I can't give her the time she needs so I'm looking for a rat owner who can give her what she truly needs. She's a sweet girl and I good home is what she deserves. It might sound bad, but its best for her.
Thank you so much I love all your rats 💖 I have two and that's what my account is on ❤️ I am getting another female to introduce to my two Ratties ❤️ I hope all goes well
I recently had to get rid of one of my rats(dale) as he was bullying his brother ( there was a lot of blood) and chip( that's the brother) is now alone. he's around 9 months old and I want to introduce him to my other two rats( Leonard and Sheldon) but they're nearly 2 years old, is that okay???
I once had a baby rat get killed during introductions. It was my fault, I was moving things along to quickly.

Zetamoon That is def better than fighting!
RatGirl44
that is very true, much better then fighting :) I get scared even thinking of the day that I may have two rats that don't get along.
Hey, I was wondering how they are now? My girls were like this at first, but eventually because close friends.

A Hooves crazy ratties!
Uno is just precious with those curly whiskers. He seems so sweet. Great video and very informative!
Where do you get your hammocks? I used to order from someone but haven't had rats for several years and lot the information.
Thank you. Great video.
+Debbie Fites sew them myself or some different sellers in etsy
It’s actually super easy to make them haha, taught myself to sew and made my first double hammock the same day. My sewing machine was about $60 but they have “ mini “ ones for like $18 which I’ve also used lol. Anddddd just realized this was three years ago.
This was so fucking helpful! (not sarcasm)
This was really helpful and good to know, but I'm not sure how long to wait between steps! I wanna be sure of all this before I add a new rat to the family
And how long some of the steps should last lol
Jack Attack me too
2 weeks but you can go longer or shorter depending on your preferance!
Really glad I saw this. I had no idea you had to keep them separate for a while when adopting new ones. I just started adopting rats yesterday. We adopted two & then went & got another one today but they had already been together at Petsmart. Glad I know this now. 😀
you shouldn't buy rats from pet stores... and you should do a ton of research before bringing any animal into your home. :/

Thanks for this video. It was very helpful while I was introducing my new boy (Link) to my current boys (Joey and Nes). This was my first intro. Took about a month of intros but they are all now living in the same cage and cuddling in the same igglu. So thank you.

BudgetBunny Uno had a testicle that did not drop... thats why he was neutered and named Uno ;-)
***** RatGirl44 Doesn't surprise me at all! My dog's nickname is Doodle...I will let you guess where that came from! HAHA
You got a good husband to take care of all that...!! Introducing Rats is very difficult I’ve had them for over 30 years ...thank God I’ve never had a death... sometimes screaming NO!!.. also helps..
Yay! I watched this but didn't do all the steps properly...

Hello, there 😊
I would like to get four male rats in the near future. However, two of them are from a breeder while the other two are from a shelter. If I get them on the same day and plan on putting them in the same cage, would it be ok to put all four in the cage right away (since neither one of the rats had a chance to mark his territory on the cage yet) or would I use the bathtub method first?

Random Rainbow I would say that's great since it's new territory, but make sure you can easily grab them if they fight too aggressively. Hope it works out good 🙂

Your rats are so cute Rattie Wonderland. Galaxy looks just like my Cinnamon.
Great video! Congrats on the new family member :)

+InsertInterestingName sure just take things slow and watch them like a hawk!
if the rat is coming from a rat rescue shelter, would it still need to be quarantined or can i go into the cage next to cage step immediately
How long should I leave them in each others cage?
I have one little girl at the moment as her sister passed away after surgery yesterday. We're completely devastated over losing her.
I am a little worried about intros as one baby had a fracture when she was 2 weeks old that went untreated, she was at the vets as soon as i got her and i was told she will probably always have a little bit of a deformity in that leg and he gave me antibiotics for her which have been finished. she is smaller than the other two which is why i worry. my two adult girls do not like being lifted so picking them up to carry them across the house to the bath isnt really doable, i have however bought a savic 95 cage which is all ready for them. would it be silly to try to introduce them all in the new cage? ive never done intros before so i want it to go as safely as possible. thank you
Love the video. Currently have 2 little females I adopted in quarantine. Almost time to get my little rat family together lol
thanks for the tip this will help when I need to introduce a new pair to and old survive. how much do I need to worry about night time squeaking when introducing new rats? Near as I can tell they aren't hurting each other.
So cute. I love his white nose!
All your ratties are so cute! I'm introducing a new baby tomorrow.
+Aleu Hope it goes well!
Thanks! It's been going great!
hi there. i have two adult girls that are a year old. ive recently got three new babies that were approx 8 weeks old although a seperate breeder believed they were a little younger. ive kept them in seperate cages going on 3 weeks now. their cages are side by side now and ive given them a smelly blanket from eachothers cage which the babies were really interested in and the big girls had a wee sniff too. ive bought a savic royal 95 which is all ready for them all to move in. one of the babies has an old fracture in her front leg from when she was 2 weeks old. when i got her i brought her straight to the vet and was told her leg will always be deformed most likely and gave me some antibiotics for her which has been finished. she is smaller than the other two which i think is why im worried about intros. there hasnt seemed to have been any aggression between any of them so far but how would you recommend i do their intros? my adult girls do not like to be lifted so carrying them across the house to the bathroom to use the bath isnt really an option =( i can get them into the new cage much easier. would it be silly to do first intros there? thanks so much
how are they so adorable!
Although I did have one rat that took a baby in and she loved it like it was her own child , licked all over ..her introduction was 2 minutes she was the sweetest Rat ever
..I usually put unscented towel on the bottom of the tub and I actually sit in the tub .. with unknown smell clothing...with them , in case if there is any fights ,... the last thing I want is a dead rat...😪 i’ve been very fortunate and raised Rats for over 30 years but I do watch them individually... and the big scream out NO!! Helps...
After watching this video we are going to take it slow.
watching the kids play is sooooo addictive!!!!
idk why I'm so excited about it but my name is Ingrid and I love and own rats so I'm excited I share a name with a ratty. :) Also very helpful video, thank you!
I just got five 5 week old baby rats, they've been close to the older rats I have. They have been like that for 3 days, when should I try and introduce them all and put them in the bathtub?? Should I wait till the babies get a little older??
I love Dunno rats and red rats!! A combo is AWESOME!!!
+Nyx Yoshiki Not too long, just enough for them to get to know each other and enough for you to know no fights are going to break out. 10-15 min a day
+RatGirl44 thanks a lot! I love your videos and your rats are adorable -3-
any advice for trying to bond an adult male with an adult female?
I am freaking out right now. I just got a new rat and my old rat will not stop fighting with her. The old rat even took a chunk of fur off of the new one. I am scared and I don't know what to do
Separate them if you think one of them could be in danger
I love your videos !!
ashley m Thank you!
Where is the best place to get fleece for the critter nation cage
this has been the most helpful vid i have found i subscribed you an now im coming too you for answers, do you know how to make any homemade food blocks from scratch at all just wondering? an how much do vets usealy cost to fix a rat?
Danielle Lunsford I do not have a homemade recipe. I am looking into feeding them a faw diet though. If it works out I will post a video about it.
It depends on where you live. Some people have told me $50 for a neuter and in my area its around $250 to $300
Ty very much for the reply
I'm introducing my girls right now, one adult female and one young female. They're doing OK but they are fighting a bit… no hard biting or blood but the baby squeaks when it happens. Is this normal? I adopted the adult and I don't think she's ever lived with another rat before but the baby lived with others before.
***** Yes squeaking can be normal especially if you have a vocal rat. It sounds like they are just trying to dominate one another.
Pls help my albino rat is a biter becayse if I put my finger clise to him without prevoking him anf he bit me and drew blood.is it because they cant see well ive also haf him for four months and he also has a friend who isnt bad at all.
Say if they fight in the tub? What would the plan of action be?
Separate them and then try again. Keep doing this. If you are still having problems then it might not work out. Some rats just won't get along.
Umm yea just assume they can. Better safe than sorry. Even something small can have lasting effects
Help?
Are rats more accepting of young (not baby) rats than adult rats when introduced?
+Merinda Venatta Personally I think so yes.
Every time I introduce my one male to my other two he screams in fear and runs up to me and hides in my shirt or hair. They haven't even had the chance to sniff him yet. I don't understand why he's so scared of them. 😞
What size rat wheel do you use? I need to buy one but can't ring a goof one
+mikayla iafrate 12 inch
I understand that it is important to do what works best for your rats, but putting the cages next to each other can make them aggressive, because they can see the rats but not work out there differences, this can cause problems later, and I would reccommend the carrier method, because it is proven to reduce injury and such
I have a male that I got from a pet store. He's kinda aggressive. He doesn't like to be handled. I got my other baby from a breeder. What's the best way to introduce them.
at what point do you know rats wont get along at all? is that possible? how many days or months do you give them to get along?
I am trying to I trod ice my 7 week old male rat to my two 5 month old male rats (all intact) the haven't fought or anything and it's been about 5 days since I started putting them together in a cage for a little while. is it safe for rats to be that spread out in age?
If the rats where kept in separate cages but in the same room when I buy them I need to introduce them right?
yes
He is so adorable 😍
Happy Halloween to you. Keep pushing forward, your Brother would want that.
Audrey Stenaka Thank You
Very informative Ratgirl! it makes me want to get several. I do love my little hamster though!:)
Audrey Stenaka Thank You!
Do you have to do this for baby's around 10 weeks old?
Is it harder to introduce intact males to other intact males?
AikoAkita Most people say yes however I have had a horrible time with my females.
Once again, very helpful.
If you buy 2 or more at the same time from the same place, do you have to do all of these steps?
Naruto Uzumaki If they are getting a long then nope! They should be good if they were already living together
RatGirl44 ok.
VaultBoy12324 thats the only thing i need to know because im not going to buy another cage for "quarantine" so thats all i needed to know :)
+accalia cutler I would wait until he is a little bigger than do the steps in the video.
Is Mila a double rex?
What kind of camera do you use to film your videos?
hey guys, i was wondering if you can give me an advice
So, two weeks ago I adopted a baby male rat named David with 2 and a half months from a breeder and it was the last one from that critter so I had to bring him home alone (he is also my first rat).
And would it be a good idea to get a spayed girl? Would it be smarter to get a Baby or is it better to get a older spayed girl?
What age is best for introductions? I had the idea that if you had an adult a really young baby was best but then found out this may be bad? I have a 3 month old (he's a rescue so not 100% sure) what is an adult count as?
I just got a new rat cos my other rat went into a depression when her cage mate died she gained alot of weight and stop playing all she wanted to do was lay in my lap so she deff needed a new friend. It took me a week to get them to play and not fight but now you cant get them a part lol its great.
I have two 2 month old babies that are going to be introduced to a nother 2 month old baby
What's the cage called?
+Savage Brandy double critter nation
RatGirl44
14:13 aww so cute
I know. So cute
I have a rat who bites all the time help!!
One of my rats just died so now I only have one left, I'm trying to convince my parents to get another one so my 2 year old baby Delilah can have a friend since her friend for life, Airey just died.
Thanks so much for your help !!!!! 😃😃😃😃😃😃😀😀😀
How old is the baby?
+RatGirl44 The baby was 7 weeks old. I didn't really know what I was doing even though I've own rats in the past, I've always got two . This situation was very new to me, I returned the baby, and I'm looking for a home for my 2 year old rat. I've bought her a new large cage ,and many tunnel's and hammocks, I can't give her the time she needs so I'm looking for a rat owner who can give her what she truly needs. She's a sweet girl and I good home is what she deserves. It might sound bad, but its best for her.
Thank you so much I love all your rats 💖 I have two and that's what my account is on ❤️ I am getting another female to introduce to my two Ratties ❤️ I hope all goes well
Thank you for doing that video it was a lot of help.

What kind of rat is iona (sorry if I misspelled)
+Sophia Giron She was a black patched dumbo rat
