I just replaced the alternator on a 2010 SRX and I can confirm what others have said in the comments. You don't have to remove the air box, the throttle body or the motor mount. Just remove the front passenger side tire, remove the finder well, loosen the belt tension from there, remove the bolt that goes through the pulley attached to the alternator (I couldn't get the pulley and bolt out fully until I lifted the alternator out of the engine compartment). Then go up top and remove the connector, the power wire and the two bolts securing the alternator to the motor. You can then lift/maneuver the alternator from the top of the engine compartment. Slide the pulley and bolt onto the new alternator before lowering the alternator back down into the engine compartment and reverse the process. This was way easier than any of the videos I saw. I still appreciate the videos though. Thanks for uploading!
Watched video 15 times to try to understand the angles used to get that motor mount past the radiator hose and the coolant lines. I give up, I'm going to try this by removing tire and fender liner then go after it from side, top, bottom without removing this silly mount. Yikes! 2 hours of my life that I'll never get back. It's a great video and I'm sure the question was answered somewhere regarding the twist, lift, force of the mount removal.
I just did one of these you don't have to take the air box out or brackets off. Just take the alternator bolts out and the stud with the external torx out. The idler bolt will come out without jacking the engine up.
I just did my 2012 SRX and literally did not have to remove anything other than the alternator. You can reach the tensioner and belt directly underneath by jacking up the vehicle. You don’t even have to take the tire off to go through the tire well. Definitely do not follow the instructions in this video, unless you like taking your entire car apart for fun.
Job only takes hour and a half to replace the belt cut the old one pull it out and slide the new one in alternator comes out easily just remove the fender well
Thanks for this video. I'm about to replace the alternator in my mother's 2010 SRX. Gm vehicles in general are piles of shit, but the Cadillac is the equivalent of a massive shit pile in a clogged toilet.
Do not follow these instructions he is doing wayyy more than necessary you do not have to take off motor mounts or air box,you go in through passenger wheel well

Exactly right. 45 min job.
Thank you! ,
I followed your instructions and didn’t have to jack up the engine and all.

Appreciate you actually having the video of you pulling the alternator out.

So I do have to remove the fender? My alternator won't come out past this plastic piece on the back of the radiator fan.
Great video Vernon, at 3:24 you pull off a couple of big plastic pieces that the air tube runs into. What are those?
It was the air filter box
@@SouthgatTV not that. I think they are called plenums. I have no idea why they are deigned that way.
