    just a heads up, the first 10mm bolt he unscrewed requires a long deep offset closed end wrench, I couldn't get at it with a ratchet and open end flat wrench

    Thanks so much. Just got back from a road trip and heard my power steering pump moaning. I initially assumed I would just replace the pump and did a google search to start researching prices. I'm already a subscriber but this video came up in my search. Less than $2 in parts plus fluid from the dealer, total $6 and change. About 15 minutes total and I'm back up and running. Thanks for posting.

    Thank you for this video. I've had this annoying noise for over two years and just been either too busy or too lazy to look into fixing it. Finally decided to google it and your video came up. Less than $10 in parts and fifteen minutes to fix. Finally, my car no longer cries every morning!

    I've always been very happy with the relatively low maintenance my 2006 Acura TL has required, but I'm even more happy I have this car since you do too! A mechanic quoted me $700 to install a new power steering pump when I took my car to him, another $500. I fixed it myself in 35 min with about $30 in parts and fluid thanks to your video. Thank you so much!

I just purchased a 2006 acura tl and the previous owner didn't use the proper power steering fluid.. so I too have that whin... he said all I have to do is change the fluid but I noticed air bubbles in the resvior so I plan on changing the O rings when I do the flush. Didn't realize how easy it was to do until watching your video. Thank again

    Thank you for making this video! My PS pump started making noises and I feared the worst for my 160,000 mile 07 TL. I noticed my PS fluid reservoir was low and this video helped me identify why. I replaced those o-rings and flushed the fluid in about an hour. I also replaced the belt while I was there, which turned out to be a lot trickier of a job because of the way it's routed. Got it all done, topped off all fluids, and she's good for (hopefully) many more miles. Thanks again!

    The bubbling is caused by the o ring leaking air. If you run it for a while and then remove cap to fluid holding tank you will see small bubbles or a foam coming out or perhaps rising to surface, Air is in system and it is a known problem for the o rings to go bad.

    great video. i have a 2004 acura mdx and i replaced the pump because it was seizing up. i had a lot of noise from the new pump with whining and groaning and after watching this video and definitely fixed my problem. i never would have known that a small seal would cause this but it was the problem. after replacing the o rings , it has really made the pump way quieter i thought there was a leak somewhere else on the car but after checking the fluid it was still full but noisy so i knew there couldn't be a leak because it would need more fluid if that was the problem. again thank you for this video.

    $1.27 out the door from the dealer, not as easy to get at the 10mm bolt as the video suggests, but doable....have to be patient..found the old one brittle and cracked....fixed my issue....new pump from dealer was $550.00 plus labor

    Just curious,my whining noise happens only when it's real cold and when the temperature is not so cold it is not an issue--or after the car warms up when in cold weather it also goes away.Is this a leak/worn seals or just norman---on 2007 Acura tl with 85k miles.Also read on line about bleeding system after repairs/refilling but no mention of that here?

    Just had my mechanic replace the o-rings on my 2006 TL and the metal rattle sound is still there but it's not as loud as before, not sure if the part numbers above are correct for 2006, forgeo to ask my wife to verify it with Acura part guy when she bought them.My mechanic thinks I will need to replace the pump eventually as he has replaced so many for his Honda n Acura customers.
    The bubbles in the tank are still there but I'm happy for now as I at least can't hear the rattle and whining noise when turning and driving.

    Dealer wants almost $600 to replace p/s pump, Local shop (not Acura) gets about $80 for job parts and labor. Parts are less than $1.40 for upper and lower o rings and a few dollars to replace fluid. ALWAYS use Honda or Acura fluid! Save some money and DIY

Alternatively you can buy a rebuild kit from Autozone for $25 with all the parts (several o-rings and a seal (that costs $35 from Honda alone) you need but the bearing, and a bearing from Honda For $17 and rebuild your Honda/Acura part. • @hwingerrr5680
      @hwingerrr5680 5 лет назад

      There's no clearance for a socket wrench or the ratcheting 10mm box wrenches I tried, and the open end was too loose on the marginally corroded looking bolt to risk rounding off. Need to use a plain 10mm 12 point box wrench to get it off. Considering how prone the inlet o-rings are to failure it would have been nice if they designed it for easier removal using just a socket wrench.

      If the strip isn't too bad, a high quality wrench (Craftsman, Snap-On, etc.) may save the day.

    is it the same procedure for a year 2000 TL? Mine doesnt have the bolt on the inlet.(the first 10mm bolt you remove from the bottom) so i guess I just have to pull out the hose and plugged it back. Thanks.

    Great video! You said you had video on how to replace PS fluid but I can not find it on your channel. Did you purchase this Acura recently and traded in your Maxima?

      12vgs8606 Just uploaded the PS fluid flush. Still have the Maxima. This TL is in the shop for a few things before going back to its owner.

    I’ve just got my ps pump replaced and my fluids flush and replaced as well but they didn’t replace the o rings. Everything seems good, but From your opinion do you think I should go back to get the o rings replaced as well to avoid future problems.

    • @CarsNToys
      @CarsNToys  5 лет назад

      I probably wouldn't bother unless it starts squealing away. It's easy enough to change if that time comes.

    Is there anything else that makes the same sound? I have a 2004 TL and it makes the same noise. A local shop and Acura both say it's the power steering pump, but it has been replaced 4 times by the shop without changing the noise. The O rings were also replaced. All the pulleys have been replaced along the alternator, and rack and pinion. The shop told me that they removed the serpentine belt and the noise went away, so it's apparently something driven by the belt. There are no bubbles in the PS reservoir and there is only a minute PS fluid leak. I've added no fluid in about 1,500 miles add the level has dropped about 1/8 of an inch. I just can't believe I got 4 bad pumps.

    The TL in this video looks like a little more modern one. I have a 2000 TL. Does anyone know if the layout of the power steering fluid hoses and pump are the same with the model in the video and my 2000?

    Hi, I do have the same issue in my HONDA Civic FD1 8th Gen recently. My self still looking where this sound is coming from? This is mostly during cold start during the turning the steering left & right. No leaks. After heated the engine it went away. Also the some rattle sound in my car comes when the car is in Gear mode.
    I heard some people posted videos related to pulley issues as well. But i cant figure what is the exact cause of issue. What is your corrective action to fix the problem?

    • @CarsNToys

      This vehicle had the same problem. Replacing the o-rings took care of the issue.

    I have an 05 TL, I replaced the o rings and pump I've burped the system, and it still makes the noise. I'm thinking it's the rack and pinion. I didn't have this problem until I broke the reservoir. Any advice?

    Thanks for taking the time to do this. I had this exact issue and I just got it addressed for a few dollars and some simple labor.
    If you're up for a challenge, is there any chance you'd create video changing the actuators in a Acura TL? My FOB no longer works to unlock one of my door, and it's a clear indication the actuator has failed. I have to change it, but I'd sure prefer to do it myself if I can find a video on how to do it.

      +David T. Hi David. I have a few things lined up for the TL that needs to get done. But if I have some down time I'll shoot a video for the actuators.

    it doesn't have the correct cap on. And I just been recapping it with any cap. then I check and it has popped the cap again. it looks like I have a leak but I'm I ot even sure since it keeps popping the cap off. I'm going to stop by the dealership and get a cap today.

      ??? Video clearly shows it's connected to the reservoir... he remove the hose clamp and pulled out so can get a long wrench in at an angle to get that pita bolt loose.
      Others videos show them doing the same without removing that hose from the plastic /nipple
