  • This video includes the DC offset and Bias adjustments which are not shown in the manufacturer's service manual. To do the services on this 40+ years old receiver, it requires to perform these adjustments to ensure the unit's proper working conditions. Hope this video can help who need to do the services on their SX-727. And I welcome your comments.

    Perfect, I’m not familiar with this yet but getting one, thanks for the walk-thru.

    Thank you for both videos! We have this exact original model with a few of the same issues you showed in video 1. Using your videos I hope to revitalize it. It’s a beautiful receiver and I have always loved the crisp sound and thundering bass when the loudness button is activated!

    Thanks so much! I just finished restoring an sx-727 with your help. Funny thing, bias was on spec and dc offset below 5 mV on both channels!

      @@howardlovecraft750 It won't be easy. It needs some basic electronic knowledge.

    Thank you for taking the time to educate!
    For the dc offset and biasing, do I need a speaker load?
    Thanks again.

      No. You don't need speaker load to do DC offset and bias adjustments.

      @@VintageAudioFan Thank you very much! because of your videos, the amp was easy to get the pots working and check adjustments and was working perfectly! It has developed an issue with the FM, though. No signal. Slight hiss, and no meter movement. AM and all other functions are good.

      It must be a loose connection or bad solder joint. I turned it on and no signal up and down the dial. Lightly bumped it against the shelf and now have FM again.

    When you do the DC offset and bias adjustment on a 727,, do you have it set to speaker A with no volume, or do you have the speakers off? And do you also have any speakers hooked up externally?

    • @VintageAudioFan
      @VintageAudioFan  2 года назад +1

      It is not recommended to hook up the speakers when doing the DC offset and bias adjustments.

      @@VintageAudioFan thank you so much. Do you set the speaker selector to speaker A, or to "spkr off"?
