I really like how unlike in most of the other games where the protagonist simply slips into the Assassin robes and calls themselves an assassin, Arno's initiation is far more personal as he gets indoctrinated into the order by letting go of his guilt about the deaths of his father and Grandmaster Delaserre.
Edward is the only one that wasn't "official"

Leonardo Da Vinci improved the design of the hidden blade so that it wouldn't cut the ring finger anymore.

Rick Sieben Probably because Altair's finger had to be cut in the first game, and then in the second game we learn from Da Vinci that it's no longer the case. So, he's the first one to relay that Ezio didn't need to have his finger cut off, AND he was a great inventor himself, so you probably unconsciously made the connection.

No, Altair, after sometime being the grandmaster of the Levantine brotherhood, decided that the sacrifice of the ring finger wasn't necessary to become an Assassin, along with the fact that a missing ring finger could reveal suspicion, so the next generation of Assassins didn't need to have their ring fingers amputated.
A lot people seem to think Arno didn't care about the creed, and I think that's right to an extent. I think he still saw the assassins as his brothers but let his personal vendetta get the better of him, but by the end of dead kings he has changed. When Leon asked him what will happen to the raider leader, Arno replies. "He shall die, for I am an Assassin." And when he retrieves the head of Saint Denis, instead of giving it to napoleon for a surely massive reward, he gives it to the brotherhood.
Arno had goals and personal gains in mind when he joined the brotherhood yes, like almost every other protagonist. Jacob was an outright senseless gangster for most part. Edward was a fucking pirate. Ezio was a freeloading playboy who joined for revenge too. Arno's growth as an assassin wasn't the main focus of the game but how he wanted a unity among both faction for both Elise and Delasare. Beautiful game indeed.

Ubisoft should've had more time polishing it. This game was ahead of it's time. It feels like a 2020 game. It unfortunate how it failed.

Imo, the best AC ever made. Sure not a large follow up in story, neither too much emphasis in a chain of great and horrific events (more than the French revolution I mean). But nevertheless ACU for me personally stands as the last good AC. Unique and beautiful in plenty of ways. I hope one day to see a similar work redone by Ubisoft.

I find that the graphics for this game have been the best out of all AC games.. this is a modern french version of Ezio. Love that its nothing new cause they even dress the same, but its still so good. Thats why Ezio is the best, you repeat it and it works still.

Arno just joined the Assassins for vengeance. He didn't care about the Creed.

Arno and Conner are the worst Assassin in the games they both used the Brotherhood for their own purposes and never really believed in the Creed and what it represent like the other Assassin Main Characters. Arno uses his training to murder his way to "Redemption" without paying any heed to the advice of the Assassin Council (and the Creed) and Conner was the same he just killed all the Templars for revenge with regards to his mothers dead (he saw the Templars as the cause of her dead and destruction of his Village) and to help his tribe (which in the end did the reverse as it only worsen their situation). At least Ezio learned to believe in a bigger cause during his journey and by the end of AC2 already fully accepted the Assassins ideals .

What happened to Altaïr's Creed? "We work in the dark to serve the light. We are Assassins. Nothing is true. Everything is permitted." I thought the Brotherhood had shunned the tenants because they were faulty
Altair never reformed the creed per se, he did some introspection and changed a few things but the tenants stayed
Altair's main focus was making the Assassins an underground worldwide power, he didn't really change anything at its foundation. Dude just simply paved the way for the Assassins to survive and remain their mysticism for the centuries to come.
His ego died so his self could be ressurected, and that's a reality check.

Yes they look similar but I just watched the moment when Arno is expelled from the brotherhood and he is called « master Belier » or somthing like that. I’m confused, do the assassin’s change their name when they enter the council? And why did Dumas not recognised Arno during the coop mission in the Invalides?

That was probably a Niccolo Machiavelli thing. Not all Assassin brotherhoods (by different place and different time) operate the same way, most of them have different customs and traditions.
Each branch has its own initiation ceremony.The renaissance assassins were different to the French Revolution assassins.The Masyaf assassins who took inspiration from the Egyptian assassins with the sacrifice of the ring finger but all branches did it at the time of Altair because it was necessary to do so because the blade was really close to the arm the ring finger was directly in the path. Altair later fixed this with the help of one of the apples if eden.

This scene surprised me but is really great. A true ritual to become an assassin by letting go who you were.
I do miss these initiation ceremonies for assassin's but what I really need to see is a Templar becoming an assassin and they as the MC.

I wanna see Connor and Shay fight so bad, I mean those guys are brutal in their own nature, unloke Arno who's more methodical instead of using brute force, you can see the differences in their combat animations.
Al Cee Productions that would actually be pretty sick. And it’s possible that Connor hunted Shay down at some point in his life but I don’t really know too much about how Shay died. I think it’s fair to say that if Connor came after Shay, Connor would kill him because he outperformed his own father, who was the grand master of the colonial Templars, superior in skill to his disciples, and a bonus that Connor has that no other assassin, not even Kesegowaase has had is that he was trained by a more experienced Achilles. Plus he can take down a bear with two hidden blade stabs, anyone who can do that is someone you don’t fuck with.
@Templar Gaming That’s similar to how the assassins and templars are at conflict because they pursue two different perceptions of peace. They’re doomed to fight one another until one dies.

Shay was just used by the templars for leverage to secure london and put it in tempar hands (i think) and his arc ended with rouge.

What did the Assassin's ever see in him? Everytime in the storyline they were all bitching on each other or there was a feel of conflict between them and Arno did not even care about the Creed in the story whoa -_-

The AC Games always had a sort of ‘perspective’ with their characters.
Altaïr was always part of the creed, born and raised.
Ezio had to join the creed, but his legacy remained with it.
Connor could’ve had nothing to do with them, but he needed to join the Assassins so that he could protect his people and build a better America.
Edward is literally just some dude who accidentally stumbled into the battle between the Assassins and the Templars.
Shay used to be part of the creed until a few assassination missions rubbed him the wrong way and when his mission to Lisbon went bad.
Arno is also basically just some dude using the creed as a means to an end. It had to happen at some point.
To be fair he his father was killed, then his (Templar) father was killed, and then his only friend abandoned him, so yeah, he doesn’t have the best mental health

No they weren't called Hashashins, that's what Marco polo called them that because of a misunderstanding, the real sect name was Asāsiyyūn. The Assassin's using hashish is all speculation and assuptions but the leader Hasan did give intiates a substace or a potion that sent his followers to paradise (death) and back, I highly doubt that he gave them weed, it was most likely syrian rue.
Chill, it’s a game. Real history too, yeah, but both the Hassassins/Hassans/Assassins/Asasiyyuns and the Templars are long gone. And it’s likely that neither of the groups ever met.
Billybobthekid now I’m remembering that point in AC1 where Al Mualim just straight-up says ‘Asasiyyun’s Creed’.

If you played Assassin's Creed Rogue, You eventually learn that Shay Cormac was tasked to travel to Versailles Palace to kill Charles Dorian. You even get an easter egg where you walk by the moment when Arno first met Elise when they were kids.

He becomes a "Master Assassin" for some reason...i mean, he literally broke all the rules of the brotherhood, but only because he took down a sage he is magically considered a Master Assassin. Thats the problem with Unity bro, you find it, it has a serious problem with the consistency of the plot...

In actual literature the leader of the real Assassin's sect back during the crusades would give initiates a substance that would bring them to paradise (death) and back.
Original Assassins relied a lot on brainwashing through drugs and religious indoctrination. It makes them closer to game's Templars actually with the whole mind control stuff. The whole "freedom fighters" stuff is obviously made up, they had their agenda like everybody else.
