Huge props to you for owning up to your insensitive joke, making up, giving the relationship another try, not be ruled by ego and not writing a girl off so quickly. I read the opinion piece in the paper, it’s about how the writer is happy/proud to hear the Malaysian accent in cinema and viral videos online thanks to Michelle Yeoh and Uncle Roger. But the shade she threw is so stereotypical unimpressed aunty lol.

Nigel's sarcasm around hope is really how these places run for those with mental health. I find it a bit hilarious that they didn't think people would already have figured this out and most people who do it have lost all hope due to their circumstances. Therapists treat it like a bird learning how to fly. "All you need is hope in your life and you're good for the rest of the time." Nigel/Uncle Roger has become my spirit animal xD
There is already a show called “Dating # No Filter” with comedians give out comments and jokes, while they watch single people go on dates. This show started in 2019. Haha…Uncle Roger/Nigel needs to be on this show!
When I first saw the Aunty column in the paper, I knew it was gonna be on this podcast and I wasn't disappointed LOL My theory is that she probably had column inches or space left, but yeah, shitting on Nigel was kinda uncalled for, especially in a national paper with a declining readership
I mean it sounds like she overrated and should have been more straightforward about not wanting to go back to your place, but saying she wanted her own beauty products was a pretty clear sign. I think Nigel is a straight to the point kind of guy and if your not straight to the point yourself, that's where the confusion could have happened.
When it comes to consent, verbal and non-verbal cues are not always black and white. You just have to be more aware and considerate to the other person. It has to be beyond the bare minimum.
I’m living for the Lonely Planet Reference. Also, I went to a holiday with my family and they SPECIFICALLY chose a hotel without Internet. It was nice then but it’d be a nightmare now.
Oh Nigel, I think you have a lot to learn about women. You need to see things from a womans perspective. She told you straight out 'no' to going back to your hotel but you didn't listen to her words. You only saw or heard what you wanted hear. Those cues you saw including the kissing & flirting showed that she liked you but it doesn't mean she wanted to sleep with you that night. She's after something meaningful & wanted to be taken seriously. She's probably experienced many dates where the guy hasn't listened to her & has pressured/expected her to sleep with them within the first few dates. She probably sick of it. Not all girls want to sleep with every guy they go on a date with especially just after a couple of dates. At least she's real and isn't a 'yes' girl just because you're Nigel Ng the comedian. She probably genuinely wanted to get to know you as a person & expected you to do the same with her...now she just thinks you just wanted to sleep with her.
Try getting a male therapist, Nigel. You might get more out of the sessions. And yes, please DO put a treatment together for an Uncle Roger movie, we're DYING for one! That idea Evelyn Mok had where Uncle Roger is your twin & you both end up falling for the same girl would be mad funny.
He thought she was playing hard to get. It’s a flirting tactic that hails from an era where it was considered uncouth for a lady to show too much interest in a man.
To be fair, your date’s reaction in the Uber can be justified by previous bad experiences. She told you she wanted to go back to her place in several ways, take it for what it is and don’t assume that she wants something else. She overall sounds like someone who had some trauma (from that and her reaction to the Mother’s Day joke you made) and has clearly not dealt with it yet. Let’s stop calling people with psychological issues “crazy” please :)
Nah. She actually CRAZY. Why can’t she just learn to sorpress traumas like the rest of us and not scare the shit outta innocent people. In all seriousness, threatening someone with Violence for not understanding their queues is never acceptable. NEVER
@@MO-rl9gl “why cant she just learn to suppress trauma like the rest of us”, because people react and deal with trauma differently. And her “queues” (you probably meant “cues”) were clear, it’s not her fault nor responsibility if they were interpreted by the receiver of said cues when there was no room for interpretation (a clear refusal). I do not condone her reaction, it was indeed violent and over the top, but I just try to understand WHY she did it. You know, compassion. Edit: just wanted to add that many women out there have dealt to some extent with some sort of SA and non respect of their boundaries. At some point we might “overreact “ because we don’t feel safe and feel the need to assert ourselves aggressively to make a point. Unfortunately, there are still some men out there who just can’t seem to understand this.
@@eml2229 I was clearly joking with the first part. I understand that perspective. But expecting people to understand vague cues is not right. At one point u have just got to say it as it is to avoid confusion. That you seriously need to go home. Communication is important
@@MO-rl9gl I think you expecting Em to get the sarcasm in the first part of your first comment is a serendipitous example of how we shouldn't be "expecting people to understand vague cues", LOL. You say you were "clearly" joking but I thought it was more subtle than that- I personally didn't detect it until I saw your second comment and reread your first comment. Just goes to show how easily people misunderstand each other and how communication is important 🤷
I still don't understand how people can think Uncle Roger is an offensive Asian stereotype when we white people are clearly the butt of the jokes. Which is hilarious.
It is because people feel like he is purposely doing that asian accent for his uncle roger character to gain viewers. I am asian myself and i feel that is a sellout. Just like back then willian hong auditioning for american idol. Alot of asian especially chinese feel so embarassed by him, but other race likes him. The difference is than willian hong isnt faking things to be famous, but this guy is. I watched first few uncle roger skit that was funny, after that it is not that funny anymore. Even uncle roger standup isnt that good. Jimmy o yang stand up is more solid than his. Well, thats just my opinion. Well, to each their own
Here is a woman's perspective. That kind of shit would also piss me off, not the mother's day thing, but the second event. I would probably not tell what I want to do as a joke but say it in a serious tone though. Lots of women especially asian are afraid of rejecting man formally because that would potentially piss them off and in old days (and still some place today) men would beaten them up for that. Know that man and woman have a physical difference and know that women are for many many years being forced into sex. That mentality still rules. Imagine that you have been used for so many years and then would you not be super reacted to another potential use? So when man and woman are talking about sex, you should not read signs, there are NO signs that can represent a woman actually decides to sleep with you, you should directly ask and get a direct answer. To me, she already answered you clearly, you just don't want to believe what she says because you want to sleep with her. Sex for man is easy and fun but for woman is a serious thing to do, she has to take time and make a big decision before she knows if she wants to do it with you, even you two discussed plans for the future, it does not mean that she wants to sleep with you right now. I don't agree with Matt on this one, I think man just don't get how these things are for women. So be super cautious and conservative with the getting consent part, and make sure you GET it, don't ever ever jump the gun and assume that she wants to do it, if you have to assume, always assume that she does NOT wants to do it, that would get you covered most of the case. Matt says that you did not force her or anything, but the truth is, man don't even have to lay a finger on woman to force them into sex, sometimes they would just get it by the mere fact of they are physically stronger than woman, and the woman are so afraid to piss of the man.
Ups and downs. Sekadar cadangan. Rooting for you lengchai!
I am interested in your story about your date. I feel that your thoughts on her are LEGIT. Maybe she has a psychological problem because she gave you mixed signals. I am hoping she's okay. And Nigel, keep searching :D
Hey guys! Loved this episode! I would highly recommend the Triggernometry channel! It has 2 hosts, who are also comedians, and they have episodes with guests discussing political / cultural topics as well as hilariously wild live streams from Thursday - Saturday at 7pm GMT! I think you guys would really enjoy it! Also I would love for Nigel to go on there as a guest! He'd kill it! As always, great work, love you guys and God bless! ❤️
As a woman, I'd just like to say that we treat every guy we go out with as a potential threat, no matter how nice they seem or how much we like them. A firm or direct "no" can have potentially serious consequences, as many men don't like to hear that.
I don't think Nigel was at fault, but I think it was also pretty understandable why his date reacted the way she did. Calling her 'crazy' seems a bit too harsh, at least based on the story as presented. For Nigel to say "Well **I** have a very good relationship with my mom", even jokingly, sounds like rubbing salt in what might be a painful wound for her. To her ears it could sound like "Well unlike you, I'm filial / a good child, and also I have this happy relationship which you don't get to enjoy, haha." If I was on a date with Nigel, I'd probably let it fly, as I know from watching the podcast that he's a naturally offensive person who doesn't always mean what he says. But if it was anyone else, I might react differently (assuming I had a bad relationship with my mom). I'm personally quite surprised at how Nigel could interpret multiple 'no's as "flirting", even taking into consideration the making out and sex talk which happened prior. Like legitimately, how do you hear "No, I prefer using my own make up products" twice and interpret that as "I want to sleep at yours tonight"? Anyway, I'll give Nigel the benefit of the doubt as I've often been WAYY off at reading others' intentions myself. I can definitely see his date's perspective. If I told a date multiple times that I wanted to go back to my place, only to have them flagrantly ignore my requests and call a cab for their place, I definitely wouldn't be too happy. It would feel like they were trying to push me into having sex with them. The optics also look pretty bad for Nigel as he's a guy and his date was a girl (I know abuse and coercion can happen both ways- Amber Heard being a case in point, but still). She also might've had bad experiences with pushy guys in the past. The fact that Nigel offended her earlier on probably didn't help matters, so tbh I'm not surprised she reacted the way she did (though I doubt I'd blow up like she did). Anyway, good episode, loved seeing Matt back. Hope Nigel doesn't let his date experience eat away at him, but also hope he learns from it. Side note: you've given out quite a bit of identifying info about the Betterhelp psychologist- maybe consider editing out her name if you're going to talk negatively about her in public?
I have stopped reading June HL Wong's articles long time ago...her correlations were often, and seems to be still is, very lame. She is a dramatic flowery fictional writer, not a critical thinker. I have nothing against dramatizing, it is needed to make a story captivating. Nigel is emphatic in his podcast because he has an important point to make, on seeing things from a wider perspective. It doesn't feel like it is merely an act for entertainment purposes, whereas June HL's writing does. On therapy, it almost seems like the Haiya podcast is part therapy to Nigel where he gets to go on a verbal diarrhea on his deepest darkest thoughts. Lucky him, most people can only write such thoughts in their journal, nobody really wants to have such conversations, let alone give much thought to such things. Unless you pay them, like Matt or a therapist. Matt is like a therapist and a punching bag at the same time (I know it is for entertainment value & don't actually think Nigel is bullying Matt). Kudos to Matt, it takes a really open minded & kind person to see Nigel's POV. Am a fan of the podcast btw, always excited to hear what you've gotta say.
Ngl, think your date was right still. She may have been interested in visiting you/seeing you again and all, but dude she said she wanted her bed and her skin products. She may have been extra with flipping out, but maybe be a bit more of a gentleman and take what she explicitly says over what vibes you may be picking up lol therapist was a try-hard tho 😂
PLEASE make your movie idea a thing. I'm a Screenwriter and I genuinely believe that it could be a wonderful thing. Anyone with half a brain would snap that up and fund you! I hope you go ahead with the treatment and if you do - I'll have everything crossed for you! Haiyaa The Movie - In cinemas 2024 🙌🙌
Actually, putting Nigel and Michelle in the same article says something. Though the views on RUclips should already say something. Good job really to Nigel and the team
It’s Asian Heritage Month and let’s just say that Nephew Nigel and Michelle Yeoh are both Asian Excellence. Of course she is Top-Tier and why would you compare her to anyone because it’s not fair.
“While Ng’s success is far below what Michelle Yeoh has achieved…“ Sheesh, at least say something like “While Ng has not _yet_ achieved the level of success that Michelle Yeoh has…” if you’ve got to make comparisons (and no one says you have to).
Rather than one or the other being crazy, from your perspective I’d say that the prognosis for this relationship isn’t favorable and it’s probably smarter to spend your time and attention on someone else.
Nope she not crazy 😅........ And also why the show is called she crazy or you crazy.... I had seen some crazy ass manipulative men 🙂 I think she was just Angry because not everyone can take jokes about topics which they are sensitive about and also you were already on chance no.2 so yeah ofc she was taken aback and also observed how the reason was the same 🤷♂️😿 Misunderstanding it's ok Anyway ly💕✨
From the way he told her rection to him asking whether she'd like to go to his place, I thought... she didn't really want to go. So I guess Nigel did misread the situation. Perhaps she overreacted when she get out of the uber though.
Why doesn't it ever get mentioned about being culturally inappropriate when other comedians of colour do it? Ariana take down hilarious. Please do some gigs in the north of England. We love you 💜🤘
who else heard 0:00 "While UNSUCCESS is far below what Michelle Yo has achieved" immediately grabbed my attention, who is calling Nigel "unsuccess"? because we Asians don't use "unsuccess", we use "FAILURE". use the right word, not the white word ~Haiyaa~~
As a Chinese lady, when a woman tells her they prefer their own products, it's a pretty clear cue that she doesn't want to come to your place. But on the other side of the coin, just from your perspective, she sounded quite flippy on her emotions just from the dates. Oh well. A woman's loss is our gain in the community. LOL
I mean girls have to understand as well, not every guy undertsabd hints. This was more of a miscommunication because of hints. Just be direct and get the point across without any miscommunication.
@@Syn741 You definitely ask a woman directly before only putting your address into Uber. She never said yes and it didn't even sound like she was considering it. This was his fault.
@@js9656 again if you watch the video, he didnt get the hint. He took the hint in the wrong way. If the first couple of hints he took it as a yes and then suddenly it was a no. Is the answer a yes or a no?
You crazy. When someone declines twice with the exact same poorly made up excuse and you don't get it you need to widen your horizon. like vertically if you know what i mean🔥🔥🔥
Nah, you crazy. Her bad temper is a legit issue but you disrespecting her three times is worse. Talking about her on a podcast being one of those times. Accountability does not include feeling entitled to forgiveness or downplaying what you did. She did say no and before you only put your address into an Uber, you need to be sure. Not sure why you want a pat on the back for saying ok when she said she wanted to go home. As opposed to what? And the mom thing was blatantly disrespectful. Don't be that guy who thinks they can disrespect women and then call it a joke. Being truly funny means knowing the difference. It is ALWAYS a sensitive topic if someone is estranged from their parents or has a strained relationship with them, and often it is because their parents were abusive. None of this story paints you in a positive light. Do better.
I agree with you. I am a French middle aged woman and I had to confront harassment before. If you are with a nice guy (no one to be afraid pr unsure of), just say things clearly, and if they are verbal misunderstandings, apologies exists and if we always stay polite both ways, then no one gets hurt. I personally love your strong and dark sense of humor a lot and had partners like that who I loved dearly, but if you had to apologize 3 times in 3 dates, that was definitely a wrong match ! Maybe she felt it before you did and just didn't deal well with it because she feared your sharp tongue...
Nigel is a bit to the extreme and should be more sensitive to the people around him in real life. See how many women friends he has 'tortured' and many friendships broken. Yes, learn from Evelyn Mok and be a better person lah.... Still rooting for you, Nigel ... since you are quite funny and talented....
Man are you right about smug cliche therapy!!!! Man man man 99% of these people are like that. To find a therapist who is actually helpful and worth the time and money is very very rare. Very hard to locate. They all fail because of the "smug" ticket.
You Crazy - if she wanted to go with you she would have said yeah lets see what you got. (so your line was fine - you were just not programmed to understand the negative result - now you can use it with confidence) also you need to find a real life uncle Roger to be your therapist.
Hey Nigel, I believe you mean well and it was a genuine misunderstanding. As a general rule, I think all men should realised that normally, no means no. And try not to imagine it was flirting or read into many things. It is hard for women on our side sometimes that some men cannot be let down gently, and needed to be firm but still have to make sure not to hurt their feelings. Maybe she's not ready, maybe she's wary of new people, but whatever it is, just accept it and move on if you think she is not worth pursuing, or go on a few more dates. Yes she had more intense reactions than most people, but that's probably a sign that you guys are not compatible, and a good thing that you avoided a possible 'combustion' in future? (Sorry I can't find the right word 😅)

There is already a show called “Dating # No Filter” with comedians give out comments and jokes, while they watch single people go on dates. This show started in 2019. Haha…Uncle Roger/Nigel needs to be on this show!
Someday you will be aa powerful as Michelle Yeoh.
Not if u build your career with only dirty jokes
When I first saw the Aunty column in the paper, I knew it was gonna be on this podcast and I wasn't disappointed LOL My theory is that she probably had column inches or space left, but yeah, shitting on Nigel was kinda uncalled for, especially in a national paper with a declining readership
Haiyaaa..... Uncle Roger you have way more followers than The Star... you are bigger than the entire company..... 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I mean it sounds like she overrated and should have been more straightforward about not wanting to go back to your place, but saying she wanted her own beauty products was a pretty clear sign.
I think Nigel is a straight to the point kind of guy and if your not straight to the point yourself, that's where the confusion could have happened.
matt is back, with slightly better video quality hahah
When it comes to consent, verbal and non-verbal cues are not always black and white. You just have to be more aware and considerate to the other person. It has to be beyond the bare minimum.
Pro-Tip: Therapists are always learning on the job. It’s just very awkward sometimes. It’s ok.
" I think I'll get dementia one day and just completely morph into Uncle Roger. " 👍💯💖😆
I agree
Yes!
She said no multiple times??? And you ordered an Uber to your hotel room???
Exactly, that's bad.
He thought she was playing hard to get. It’s a flirting tactic that hails from an era where it was considered uncouth for a lady to show too much interest in a man.
Welcome to yet another episode where Nigel tries his hardest to get Matt cancelled. LOL XD
every week listening to nigel talking about things going on and his ideas is so nice.
but where is the intro music this week i really enjoyed that.😘
hhaa I love the intro music too.
Laughed so hard at this episode! Dynamic between Nigel and Matt is always amazing x
Exactly
Nigel, she was pretty clear she wanted to go home 😂😂 Matt is right ... If she can't handle your jokes you need to ditch her.
I just decided to come to Malaysia to study because of Uncle Roger :D
My favourite part of this Podcast are the thumbnails.
PRODUCER MATT IS BACK YASSSSSSSSS 👏🏽
Right after this pod ended, RUclips autoplay directed me to HAIYAA pod episode 11 where the first few seconds is Uncle Roger going "HIDE YOUR CRAZY"
Well, to each their own
I never really think about the political aspect of your work. I just find it funny.
Also, keep up the great work! 😊
Crazy lads. Love you
Ups and downs. Sekadar cadangan. Rooting for you lengchai!
I am interested in your story about your date. I feel that your thoughts on her are LEGIT. Maybe she has a psychological problem because she gave you mixed signals. I am hoping she's okay. And Nigel, keep searching :D
20:00 that's the reason I don't read and listen to local media. And to that person who wrote the article, boooo shame on you.
sounds like she did say no multiple times and you insisted on going back to your hotel, and that's listening to your version of the story
YES
Man I really wanna see that amnesia Uncle Roger movie…
Wasn't Better Help just a scam where they hired unlicensed therapists?
And then proceeded to sponsor every. fucking. comedy podcast out there that is relevant
Make that movie, that could be amazing. Haiyaa
Can you bring back Evelyn Mok for one episode?
As a woman, I'd just like to say that we treat every guy we go out with as a potential threat, no matter how nice they seem or how much we like them. A firm or direct "no" can have potentially serious consequences, as many men don't like to hear that.
Would pay big $$$ to see Bo Burnham and Nigel argue about Asian identity Thunderdome style
I’ve been told that women often play hard-to-get, so from the tone of the conversation he could have thought she was doing so.
After the brain trauma you wake up as Uncle Roger. Then you have a second accident and wake up as Jaime Oliver.
I'd date you Nigel ❤ I love your videos and you always make me laugh..
Ngl, think your date was right still. She may have been interested in visiting you/seeing you again and all, but dude she said she wanted her bed and her skin products. She may have been extra with flipping out, but maybe be a bit more of a gentleman and take what she explicitly says over what vibes you may be picking up lol
therapist was a try-hard tho 😂
What?!! Of course Malaysian people love you Nigel .. haiyaaa. And fuyooo is you able to podcast with Michelle yeoh
Do you have any plans of adding a show in Germany? I was considering going to the one in Paris, but it's sold out already :(
Actually, putting Nigel and Michelle in the same article says something.
Nigel scolding his producer was so much like Uncle Roger.
love you Nigel 💟
18:14 I think he Needs Steven's dad to give him therapy
“While Ng’s success is far below what Michelle Yeoh has achieved…“ Sheesh, at least say something like “While Ng has not _yet_ achieved the level of success that Michelle Yeoh has…” if you’ve got to make comparisons (and no one says you have to).
Counselors get real cringy sometimes 😆
It's a bit extreme podcast. But I still do love it! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Rather than one or the other being crazy, from your perspective I’d say that the prognosis for this relationship isn’t favorable and it’s probably smarter to spend your time and attention on someone else.
Nope she not crazy 😅........ And also why the show is called she crazy or you crazy.... I had seen some crazy ass manipulative men 🙂
I think she was just Angry because not everyone can take jokes about topics which they are sensitive about and also you were already on chance no.2 so yeah ofc she was taken aback and also observed how the reason was the same 🤷♂️😿
Misunderstanding it's ok
Anyway ly💕✨
Ng’s success, not unsuccess.
You don’t know meh Malaysian pattern are like this. We love to say shit sometimes without understanding it
It is the stupidest line ...I'm a therapist and it gagged me, too.
Far below !!!!!!! Had me laughing 😂
The movie would be one of the best things you could possibly do to increase your fanbase! Happy Madison would be the absolute best vehicle for it!
@@Syn741 When did she say it's YES for that night? They did talk about sex in the near future, but that night?! Never, she said no multiple times!
@@shitlista4283 did you fail comprehension?
Hi nice podcast todya
I would pay millions to see your movie Nigel
love from Maui bruda 🤙🏼
You crazy. When someone declines twice with the exact same poorly made up excuse and you don't get it you need to widen your horizon. like vertically if you know what i mean🔥🔥🔥
Nice subtle racism their.🔥🔥🔥
Welcome to Bangkok, Matt
Do better.
YES
That part 🗣️
omg @Nigel im also coming to melbourne on the tenth imm from singapore. But there were no tix available
i really want to see you
Go to sukhumvit and Phrom phong and Siam. They are really nice places
Nigel you are da bomb, anyone who says otherwise is WRONG!!!!!
😂 That crazy part reminded me so much of my uncle right now
Nigel, must be fun at parties
Haiyaa!!!!! Why you gotta upload so early 😭
Man are you right about smug cliche therapy!!!! Man man man 99% of these people are like that. To find a therapist who is actually helpful and worth the time and money is very very rare. Very hard to locate. They all fail because of the "smug" ticket.
change therapist or pay them haiyaaa!! 😂😂
Moral value, Watching his laughing
all publicity is good publicity, so thumbs up 👍
You Crazy - if she wanted to go with you she would have said yeah lets see what you got. (so your line was fine - you were just not programmed to understand the negative result - now you can use it with confidence) also you need to find a real life uncle Roger to be your therapist.
She crazy? You're the one in therapy Nigel 😅
I'm confused if that was an ad or a roast session for better help lol
They don't treat you right Nigel? 😂😂😂
If you aren't sure if she wants to come back to your place, text Matt her number and make him ask. Would be funny to know how that goes.
