"Team aVo believes in saving Mother Nature, so we "encouraged" the Redditors to participate in Earth Hour by suggesting they turn out their lights and computers. We were then nice enough to help them do just that.
This isn't the video that Warchamp was referring to in the "Coming Soon" trailer; he was talking about Weekend of Minecraft. I've got some footage of that, and if anyone was mad about the server being reset on Saturday, it was because of us. You're welcome."

I remember when I played on this server, I cut down a tree and a guy called an admin because it was special to him, out in the wilderness. Got perm banned.

HamEggMcMuffin I shit you not, I left spawn and walked for 5 minutes until I thought I was far enough away to not be bothered, and when I went to cut a tree the fucker walked up and told me it was his tree. There were no leaves and it was just sititng there in the open.

"block griefing doesnt cause permanent damage we can just roll it back" then they treat their users like that lol seems like aVo caused some permanent psychological damage to the staff instead of permanent world damage, which is arguably even better

I'd agree it was pathetic. It was pathetic it even crashed because THAT WASN'T THE GOAL. They were just breaking tons of torches and just so happened to accidentally your server.
The morons obviously didn't have the wecommended amount of deditated wam they should have to server.
Pretty sure it was a .crash lol, that's why Krysk was being so sarcastic

***** Yeah me too. The issue is the insane amount of protection and anti-grief plugins used by servers nowadays. You'd have to be a professional griefing team to crash it. So many servers use all sorts of anti-hack plugins that prevent flying, fast block breaking, kill-aura, and free-cam. It's a shame really.

pliny vic They could but not in the way they used to. As mentioned, servers have seriously upped themselves in terms of security, and a heap of other exploits were patched by Mojang, free-cam mainly considering how often Avo used it to grief (before you say it's still possible to free-cam, it technically is, the server has no control over the position of the client unless they have some pretty insane syncing happening between the client and server, but you can no longer actually use it to interact with the world in any way unless it's within a 7 block radius).
And a few members are still gaming, just moved on from the team. Unknown and Warchamp stream, Krysk and another member are now admins on the Crewniverse server and forums.

My brother was one of the people in the chat in this video, and it makes me so nostalgic. We were like 13 at the time, and I LOVED avo.
This is where I first heard of Lights Out, I still listen to the song every once in a while because I actually really like it

There are many things I learned from this video in particular. One, this was when I learned of Team AVO years ago. Two, this is how I got into Rick Astley's music. Three, servers back then could crash from you simply destroying all the torches in a world with a plug-in. And four, I will never grow tired of watching these old videos, new ones included. Hail to the Kings of Griefing.
So THIS is why I am into Rick Astley. That explains a lot.

Right at the end, they used .crash (minecraft client side/fucking love krysk's coding) which sends malformed packets to the host, which is basically a Denial of Service attack, it just made the whole episode even more funnier!
I miss those days too..
The servers could hold at most 100 players dedicated...

Storm, last I heard had finished a Degree in Law, Krysk does Coding for a couple different companies, and Warchamp is the Webmaster for OBS.
Tom Correll Krysk ran the website for The Crew, basically Speedy, Jahova, etc
Yeah, I heard all the members of aVo now have full-time jobs (and probably girlfriends) so I can imagine it'd be near impossible for them to have a regular upload schedule for griefing, even if they wanted to.
Back when they were big they were all in college/uni. They had free time, these days i believe storm has graduated and is working a lot which unfortunately means he just doesnt have time. I believe they all are still friends, just dont have time for griefing. Warchamp did post on twitter recently that he gamed for the first time in a long time with both storm and krysk. They might make a come back but i doubt it.
