a mistake you missed? thinking that a divers watch is a dress watch,m because it has a metal band :/ far too many ppl think their diving watch is a dress watch, and they end up looking like children
My biggest mistake was buying a movement fashion watch first (which is honesty a 45.00 watch at best for 145 bucks)instead of a timex expedition, a citizen eco drive, or a Seiko 5. I only wish i had educated myself more on watches before i bought it. Hopefully somebody looking at. Movement watch will read this and pass on it and go for something like the expedition which is a 45.00 watch. And is the same quality or better as the mvmnt. I support heritage brands. And i would HOPE a company with such prestige as RMRS would aswell instead of start ups selling cheaply made junk for 4 times its worth.
Don't go with a Citizen ecodrive, just get a regular Citizen watch and you'll be fine. I've seen a lot of problems and dissatisfied people with the ecodrive watches. My day-to-day watch is a Citizen and I love it though.
Go on aliexpress. I once looked out of curiosity for the originals and found a watch from mvmt sans the hideous shitstain of a branding for a fiver with a discount on shipping. Looks like the MO of “brands” like mvmt, dw, 5th, etc is to buy those cheap originals in bulk and have them branded. Then sell them with a truly massive profit margin to gullible suckers that are easily fooled by cheapass marketing.
I made a terrible mistake buying a 5th watch. Live and learn, I guess. As soon as I could I bought something better and worth the money; A Lorus (Model # VJ33-X001) Stainless steel casing with an attractive blue dial. Being an associated brand with Seiko, and what many people refer to as "The discount brand," I find that it's really well made for the price I paid. (About $114 CAD after 13% HST.) Honestly, it was a steal. I hope Lorus isn't overlooked by buyers because they're such a nice watch considering their price point. I should add that I learned another lesson here. I will no longer buy watches online. Especially watches from unestablished manufacturers. From now on I'll go around to local shops. Thankfully, there a reputable jeweler nearby, one that has been around since 1938 and will always be my first stop. You just don't know exactly what you're buying when you order online. (If anyone happens to find themselves in Sudbury, Ontario, go check out Robert Brown Jewellers.)
Lucifer Morningstar yes you did.. you paid money for the name not for the movement. Seiko, Hamilton, Sinn, Squale are quality brands and buck for money. Wear what you like.. but these watches suck.
I understand why Antonio is repping MVMT due to sponsorship reasons, that's fine. Was close buying one due to this channel and Alphas, but after reading some comments got to looking horology. Rather than buying a $130 Quartz Ghost from MVMT I got a $135 Orient Bambino V2. Personally I am glad I got my Orient since its mechanical and I just feel great about wearing something that is quality, but to each their own. Now I'm saving up for a Hamilton Khaki King! Thanks to all the TGV fans for really kick starting my education in horology!
I have followed RMRS and find a lot of your advice useful and well thought out. I also understand the import of sponsors, and that the financial aspect behind them is critical for your business model. I know a bit about watches however, and in this particular case you either don't know what you are talking about, or you are completely selling out. MVMT watches are cheap and possibly one of the worst purchases a buyer could make. I would advise that anyone considering buying a MVMT go to any of the experts watch channels, and see what they think of the brand. Also look at the reviews, and you'll understand you are buying a watch for months not years..... if that's what you are looking for and you actually like the looks.... that's up to you. Sadly, this makes me rethink those areas I looked to RMRS for advice, where I don't have the same level of knowledge
These kinds of videos really damage your integrity, sadly. It's one thing to be sponsored by a cheap brand like MVMT, it's another thing to withhold the fact that they are cheap mass-produced watches from the audience. MVMT/5th/DW sell cheap chinese quartz watches with run-of-the-mill materials that cost a few dollars to produce. They sell these watches for more than 10x that price, for no good reason other than to make a big buck. That's not a business model worth supporting in my book.
Eeriewolf Amen. Videos like these are damaging Antonio‘s credibility. If he promotes quality products in the future, I can‘t be sure, that they are good quality or just another cheap product placement.
Working as a state and federal government employee, A watch does state a lot about you. Your level of professionalism, attention to detail, and oddly enough work ethic. At least in my area, Rolex, Omega, and at times Breitling are the mid teir gold standard. Is there a direct correlation between all perceptions? Perhaps not. However, a man - in my professional field- is allowed two pieces of jewelry: A watch and a wedding band. YOU are worth more than a $10 material watch.
Yeah, Movement is an awful brand; and their product is just one that discerning consumers don’t want. I often like what you do, and I like some of the lines you promote, but having Movement as your sponsor hurts your credibility in general.
Antonio, Please make a video about all the classic men's watches under $200! You went from discussing Allen Edmonds and custom suits, to pedalling cheap Chinese watches! This is sad to watch; what happened to the quality and timeless items you used to describe in such painstaking detail? Years ago, your low production videos were THE go to source for men's finer dressing. Now, this channel is just like all the others; another billboard for the sponsors. I understand that this is a business but where is your integrity? This channel was about teaching men and developing a community. How can you be trusted to teach men about watches when there's a clear conflict of interest with your sponsor. If you were truly teaching men and looking out for your viewer's best interest, than they all should be able to identify these brands for what they are: an overpriced marketing tactic.
The video was really annoying to watch because of the sponsor. It's okay to mention it once but if you mention it every ten seconds it is really frustrating!
i love you Antonio but MVMT watches have to go. Agree with people in the comments.. MVMT watches are horrible and people shouldn't buy them. Do not waste your money on them, they're not worth it. Please Antonio look for another sponsor that your viewers actually like. It'll help us and it'll help you at the same time.
Not doing your research on the watch company from whom you want to buy from. Especially with new primarely unknown companies. You want to know that the money the watch costs is worth it. Quality versus price really.
These watches are crap, made in China, with cheap movements and awful quality. Buy a Seiko or Citizen instead. Go check out TGV's channel. This is what sponsors do to a channel...
TheDpo1 Agree with you 100%. I understand that Antonio relies on sponsors to keep his channel going, but getting behind crap like Mvmt will only make loyal viewers question his credibility, which will lead to people leaving this channel. Really hope he looks at the number of dislikes and comments and rethinks who he promotes.
Vincero is actually a decent watch. I own two of them. MVMT is pure, cheap BS. I have to somewhat respectively disagree regarding Vincero. If that is all someone can afford, go for it--it's better than other pathetic watches that RUclipsrs are pushing. Now, and with that said, it will never replace my Omega or Victoronix collection:)
I've also owned both MVMT and Vincero. MVMT really is cheap quality. Vincero is actually pretty nice, but obviously you have options from Orient and Seiko worth considering at that price too. I think Antonio should keep Vincero as a sponsor and drop MVMT.
I usually love your videos but MVMT is a really poor choice for your usual ideals. It's like buying a suit from H&M, sure maybe you're going to be the "one guy in a milion" that actually gets a perfect fit from H&M and maybe you love the suit itself so it's not a bad buy, but it's cheap quality and it's far from classy. Same goes from MVMT watches, and I'm not the only one that's saying it but also some channels that you suggested in previous videos say the same exact thing (for example Theo and Harris). I am sorry but this time you dropped the ball, it happens to everybody once in a while so it's ok
I know everyones ragging about the MVMNT sponsor but I say if you like a watch and it works for you,so be it.I own a MVMNT which I got second hand but I love my Seiko 5 ,Timex Weekender and my G-Shock,All 3 of them costed me less put together than a new MVMNT and I feel if I had to choose 3 watches to own for the rest of my life,it would be those 3.I would suggest the Timex Weekender as a better choice as far as a great budget watch .It can be bought for around $25 and you can also dress it up or down with a huge choice of nylon NATO or leather straps. The Weekender Chronograph is also a good choice as well.
Have to agree with most of the comments and also bring in some of the notes by The Urban Gentry #11 Dont buy fashion watches. #12 Don't buy replica watches #13 Don't buy illegal copies #14 If a watch manufacturer is not proud enough to announce what exact movement/caliber they are using in their watch, better skip it. #15 if just unsure, research into watch calibers. There are plenty of good small batch watch manufacturers which combine good craftmanship with reliable Swiss and Japanese calibers. One i'd like to point out is one of the few watch manufacturers of my home country - Estonia. Aegaon (www.aegaon.com) who use Miyota 8215 in their automatic watches and Ronda 715 in their quartz watches. Also ETA 6497-1 clones in their oversized 53 and 65mm skeletons.
I work at a jewlery store as a sales associate and i work with watches on the daily. One thing i would say is if your getting a quartz movement or any battery powered watch have the battery tested right when you get the watch. Sometimes the stem isnt pulled in the watches prior to purchase and then 3 days after you get it your watch is dead and you need to go replace the battery. And on another note when not wearing your watch always remember to pull your stem out. It conserves battery and is easier on the watch movement however you will need to set it each time you wear it.
Enjoyed the video. Very informative as always, but I'm actually disregarding both quartz and mechanical watches. The only watches I currently trust and wear are solar watches from either Seiko, Casio or Citizen I've bean wearing them since the past ten years and they never needed a battery or mechanical force to operate. They got all the style highlights you've mentioned plus the decent price.
My advice to people just getting into watches - The only thing we truly own is our time, so put something on your wrist that values and reminds you that time is always ticking, so make the most out of it. For the best fit don’t just look at case diameter. Pay attention to the lug to lug, the height, and how thick the case bezel is. If a watch has a stainless steel option, get it. Third party leather/nylon/rubber straps are easy to come by. Even if you prefer leather your taste might change. If you buy quartz don’t go cheap just because it is quartz. Make sure you can return it because even reputable brands like seiko will sell quartz where the seconds hand doesn’t align with the markers. If you buy mechanical try to stay away from features that are extra maintenance like date/day windows unless you want to spend money/time/space/effort on winders. Fashion opinion - Don’t buy watches with over complicated designs unless you’re using those features. It looks cool on the website but if you want a watch to pop you need a good fit and negative space on a quality dial. No1 cares about your watch so if it is to busy it’s beauty isn’t comprehendible at a glance. Fashion opinion - Don’t buy watches that are highly contrastable. For example… a Dive watch with a black bezel and a white dial. This will make the dial appear smaller and the contrast is lost in the full attire. Use straps and the dial to match or contrast your outfit.
Buy a Seiko 5 or a Casio they might become clasics, costs nothing nice quality. Like the IKEA of watches. Basicly you probably only need one watch, subs and flightmasters looks silly, you can have them both at the beatch and the boardroom, but as someone pointed out you seldom do. A Black rolex explorer works kind of everywere. A complicated watch is moore expensive to service and repair.
No. 5 (watch vs. wrist size) is questionable. Circumference of the wrist isn't that important, but its width is. My wrist circumference is 17cm (metric system here in Germany 😉) but it is rather flat and therefore relatively wide. I regularly wear an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph which I bought in 2009 (1st generation). This thing is 45.5mm in diameter, lug to lug (more important than diameter) something around 52 or 53mm, 18mm in height and 243g in weight, so it is quite a substantial watch with some presence on my wrist. But that's how this watch is supposed to be and fortunately I can pull it off. Bezel width is also important to how a watch looks on your wrist. If the bezel is thin the watch looks bigger than it actually is. My advice is to check out the watch on your wrist if you are not sure whether it fits or not. Mistake #11: Picking up a watch too quickly. Unless you are really 100% sure which model you want take your time and look at various brands and models. Get yourself an overview of what you like and what you don't like. Doing that in preparation for a watch purchase is a lot of fun and further enhances my purchasing experience when I finally make my move.
A watch is more than just a time keeping device. It represents the man that wears it and it need a story. I expect more from you and mmtv watches and fashion watch. Disappointed
Hi Antonio, Next time please include Seiko, Orient, Timex, Citizen, Vostok, Tissot, Swatch .. you know the brand list.. ( Best watches under 200 / 300 usd)
very nice video. I usually hate channels that have sponsors in their video, but you were able to plug your sponsor without rambling for 2 minutes how great they are
Tip that you missed: Stop buying over priced cheap chinees watches like mvmt and start buying watches that will last you a life time (does not have to be expencive!!!!!!!)
Omar Gutierrez no I actually haven't bought one. I stay away from fashion watches. I do however have friends that had them and other fashion brands and I was not impressed and yet to be.
Quartz is the best. Buying a mechanical watch makes as much sense as Boeing fitting their planes with radial engines. Hundreds of parts, delicate, needs regular servicing, and imprecise. There’s no point in being the servant of your watch, it’s meant to be the other way round. I had a series of mechanical pieces but was afraid of impacts and magnetic fields at work. Not to mention losing/gaining more time in a week, or sometimes a day, than a good quartz piece does in a year.
I've been having fun with lots of different makes. I've been buying on eBay to find out what I like. I keep what I like and sell the rest. Now I have Seiko, Glycine, Timex, Casio, Guanqin (justonemorewatch), Pulsar and Victorinox. Plus a cheap Lorus digital for the gym.
hey antonio big fan I've been watching your videos for a while now, and I'm thankful. If it wasn't for your pointers on interview wear and so on I would not have gotten my new job any advice on keeping it casual but professional with out being to obvious about it? Thanks Stephen
Dear Antonio, got a good idea for you, don't talk about watches , MVMT are poor at best, by promoting them you are loosing credibility . I really respect your clothing advice but leave the watch advice to the watch blogs , even a cursory glance at a few watch blogs will tell you "always always always avoid fashion brands"
1)Watches that are too loose for your arm and that keeps moving a lot. 2)Selecting watch strap that best suit the environment around you for eg. people who are close to the sea shouldn't wear metal strap watches because that metal starts to oxidize and produce a white layer. Good video by the way
Just and observation: I find it funny that all these stylechannels that promote these bad price quality watches like vincero are indirectly promoting Seiko and Orients. People who read the comments see the brand Seiko over and over. XD
I’m just very proud of the high number of people who do know their watches and recognize that MVMT is just a fashion item. Good for you, my good gentries @theurbangentry
anthonymsalerno That's an exaggeration. I went for that once. Used it for a year before it broke. So wasn't bad for like the $7 shipping I paid for it. Cheap watch but looked good
Hey whats up so i actually own three watches, i own both of Tissot's T- touch series and also a Casio Edifice that's worth about 400€.I am turning 17 in two weeks and i am really looking forward to expand my collection. I am quite a tech geek but i don't really sympathize with the idea of wearing smartwatch. It would be really helpfull if you could suggest me some reputable watch brands or even models around the 700-1k€ tier. Thanks!
If you're a tech geek i expect you'd like a G Shock GPW 1000T, but since you already have sporty watches i recommend you a dress watch from Hamilton, Frederique Constant or Tissot, even though you said around 700-1k$ you should check the Orient Sun&Moon, it's 300$ but hell of a beautiful watch
For $700-1000, you could get a high quality vintage Omega (maybe Omega DeVille), or the slightly underrated Universal Geneve. Just be careful about who you buy from, you don't want a frankenwatch, redial, or, obviously, fake. Another type of watch that I like that's actually below that price range are vintage chronographs, specifically with the Landeron 48 movement. There watches are from pretty much unknown brands, but they're fairly high quality and look fantastic. Just be aware, with vintage watches you need to be careful, they're not that robust and can be water damaged quite easily.
What I feel was my mistake was buying a dress watch for the sake of having a dress watch (and don't get me wrong-I feel naked without a watch). I bought a relatively simple, no-frills Stührling for interviews and the like where I had to dress up. I already had a Casio G-Shock and planned to continue to wear it for when I could have a casual watch. I was still in college at the time, and what ended up being the situation was I would wear my Casio much more often than my Stührling-the latter is 16 months old, yet I could probably count the number of times I've worn it to date on one hand. I've since been hired to a job that has a business professional dress code, so it might get a little more love when I start working it, but still...
Below is my recommendation for a minimalist 3-piece watch collection that I would like to call "Great 38s", where all watches have the size 38mm, sensibly priced, of high quality and of course complements a stylish man's wardrobe! Watch #1: Diver's Watch - Japanese - Automatic - Seiko SKX013 - Great bang for buck diver's watch at a sensible price. As it is automatic, it has a sweeping seconds hand which I really like. You would need to have a watch winder for this if you will be wearing this alternately with the other watches in my collection it will still run and keep date and you won't have to adjust it often. The crown is screw-down and will eventually wear out if you often have to adjust it so a watch winder is a must for this watch indeed. I have been wearing this more often than my other watches as I still yet to get a watch winder for it. Watch #2: Military Field Watch - Swiss - Handwind Mechanical - Hamilton Hamilton Khaki Field Officer Mechanical H69419933 (or the NEW ref. H69419933) - As this is hand wound you can wind it everyday to keep it running. The advantage of the new H69419933 is that it doesn't have the date display which means if the power reserve does run out, you would only have to adjust the date. Less wear and tear on the watch. The new dial is nearly an identical recreation of the classic MIL-W-3818-spec field watch, with Arabic numerals and a smaller 24-hour scale beneath them, luminous darts for indices, “aged” lume on the minute and hour hands, and no date wheel. I like that the Hamilton KFM is just under 10mm thin so it fits under a shirt cuff easily! Watch #3: Sternglas Zeitmesser - German - Quartz (Swiss Ronda Movement) - Bauhaus Design Inspired Watch - Since it is quartz it's battery powered which means I don't have to worry so much about servicing and I know it will still run after a long period of not wearing it. This doesn't have a second's hand so it doesn't have that (almost stressful) ticking seconds. A good design choice on Sternglas' part. This watch's design is so versatile that you can wear in on all occassions. You can really dress it up but also wear it with a casual outfit. If you can only buy 1 watch, this type of watch design is the one that you need to get. Sternglas Zeitmesser now has the Automatic version powered by Miyota 800 series. For higher end Bauhaus I would recommend Nomos or Stowa. I probably stay away from DW, MVMT and other fashion watch brands. It think it covers all bases: Style: Diver's, Field Watch, Bauhaus Country of Origin: Japan, Switzerland, Germany Movements: Automatic Mechanical, Handwind Mechanical, Battery Powered Quartz What do you think?
I subscribed to this channel because I don't know much about men's fashion. But I know my watches, and after this video I actually start to doubt a lot of other videos on this channel. But still, this video is relatively neutral and honest compare to a lot of other videos on youtube.
Yoooo! Very good watch buying mistakes. Let me ask you a question though, do you think the color watch and build is absolute when it comes to classy vs formal
Seems to me that 3 would be the best number for a small collection. A durable watch for exercise, travel, sports, etc.., a business casual watch that will look good both at work and on the weekends, and a formal watch for events where you have to look your best.
Hey Antonio I figured the most affordable way to actually keep off neck stains on your collar for good. The solution is simple. Using tape. I stuck sheets of tape on the inside of my neck collar to act as a barrier between my neck and my shirt. After a few hours, the neck stains got on the tape which can be quickly wiped away with ease. You don't have to remove the tape. I just simply let it stick on the inside of the neck collar, read your be used again. Antonio, could you please share this tip with us in a video.
Thank you very much for making this video. I was just about to buy the wrong watch. However, I'm not a huge fan of fashion watches in general, and it's nothing against you. I just think they aren't really worth the money. But, of course, that's just my opinion. If you guys like the MVMT, my advise is go ahead and get it. But just know about what else you can get for the money and maybe you'll find something you like more for less money.
I think the number 1 buying mistake would be buying a MVMT, Vincero etc watch. I understand people that make RUclips videos need to make money too, but this epidemic of RUclipsrs (which are often watch guys, wearing 'real' watches) promoting stuff like MVMT is getting really annoying. You can't watch a decent video without being bothered by the promotion of all kinds of stuff of questionable quality.
I have a Nixon and a Samsung Gear Frontier smart watch I use my smart watch way more often because it's just too useful. More and more smart watches that look more like classic time pieces are becoming available which is nice, but for now I've gone with the sheer amount of utility a smartwatch provides. Possible do a video about them?
I like this channel, but Antonio, if you have 1,7 million subscribers, you should not sell out your name to anyone for sponsorships money. 1. MVMT watches are absolute terrible quality, I saw numbers fall off under glass on my friends MVMT watches 2. Google it - MVMT has 3,2/10 stars on Truspilot 3. They are not stylish, ugly desing, watches for real man are automatic watches, or at least some cheaper brands with swiss movement if you are on budget - Jacques Lemans, Tissot, Festina, Junkers... You should delete this and issue separate video with appology :/
The biggest mistake people make when getting into watches is buying junk.... don't waste your hard earned money on that cheap watch at Wal-Mart..... Casio, fine, Timex, great... but most of the other stuff is just junk. Save your money, do a little research and you'll find something you can truly be proud of.
A big big mistake is, especially with metal straps, not wearing your watch properly (too loose)! Great vid Antonio, maybe you could make a video about brands to get your first watch? For all the viewers that want one but are overwhelmed with the great variaty of brands. My first ones where Timex, MVMT, Tayroc and TW.
hi antonio,u r marketing so many watches from 5th,vincero,original ge=rain n now mvmt so how we can trust what is better , n you all the time say u hv used it for past 2/3 yrs its wierd
Sorry Antonio, I know you need sponsorships to keep the channel going but I think you should be more picky about the brands you highlight. Like others have said - you can purchase watches of the exact same quality and styling for a fraction of the cost or better yet invest in a proper watch around the same price point as these. Seiko is a great place to start, in my experience.
This video is so general. "Quartz vs Mechanical: there are advantages and disadvantages to both". Uh, specifics? This video is just an advert. Unsub. I'm dissatisfied with the content of the channel over the last year.
Quartz Pros: - Easy/cheap to get serviced - Inexpensive to produce/inexpensive to buy - Quality quartz movements keep more accurate time than mechanical ones - Light weight and thin, so you can have very low profile watches - You can set the time, and forget it without having to worry about it stopping Quartz Cons: - Cheap movements can have an audible "tick" - Ticking seconds hands just look bad (personal preference) - Quartz takes the craftsmanship out of watchmaking (with the exception of luxury brands such as Rolex who have a couple quartz models) Mechanical Pros: - No battery to replace - They are works of engineering art - The sweep of the second hand is aesthetically pleasing to watch Mechanical Cons: - Time has to be set if unworn for too long because the movement stops - More moving parts = more can go wrong with the watch - Servicing is more expensive/time consuming/frequently needed than quartz - Less accurate than quartz, needs to be regulated in order to keep time All in all, quartz would seem like the better deal, however people who actually appreciate watches and the history of horology will admire the time and skill that goes into creating the beautiful works of engineering art that are mechanical movements.
For any of you gents who want to go with mechanical manual or automatic watches on a budget, there are great companies out there. First off, I had a Citizen eco-drive flight watch I used as a Marine that failed on me during deployment. Quartz watches are great, but between the battery or the charging capacitor, they can quit on you when you least need or want them to. I wear a Hamilton Khaki automatic in 42mm and it looks great on my 6.5” wrist and has classic military field watch looks with the same ETA 25 jewel movement that can be found in Breitlings and Tag Heuer watches at ten times the price. I swapped out the great looking dressy leather band for a high quality Gekota NATO strap for daily wear. Don’t discount the Seiko automatics. They make great in-house mechanical movements, and some of their watches like the 100meter SNZF17K1 day-date Sea Urchin at $140 that looks a lot like a Rolex Submariner, or the 200meter SKX007K2 for $200... the latter being a no BS dive watch. If you have a 6.5” wrist, stick with the 40 and 42mm cases. Load up on NATO straps for daily wear and color combination for casual to business casual, keep the metal bracelet or a dress leather for when needed. And for that treeachyoself watch... rather than dumping $3500 to $9000 on a Rolex Sub or Omega Seamaster, $2000 can buy you a premium watch of hard to match movement quality from Nomos Glashutte.

Real Men Real Style there is a spelling mistake in your description. Oh, and mvmt watches are crap. Enjoy trading credibility for cash.
a mistake you missed?
thinking that a divers watch is a dress watch,m because it has a metal band :/
far too many ppl think their diving watch is a dress watch, and they end up looking like children
Please remove this link. It offends us all.
I usually buy a watch that's too large for my wrist because I can't ever find a watch I like that will fit my small wrist.
Mistake #11. Buying a MVMT watch
Shame on the Moon yep
😂
lol don't agree it's #1
i comment the same thing :D after mistake n2 :D
Exactly what I would say. Except, I would put it as #1.
First dislike. I thought you were a man of taste and would never recommend bad quality products. Now it is just all advertisements.
True he don’t have a taste
You're being generous saying mvmt are $45 watches. You can get them for $10-15 apiece on Alibaba.
I think ur better off getting a Casio
Cant go wrong with a seiko 5
Mistake #1: buying movement, 5th, Daniel Wellington or any other fashion watches.
Tamás just what I was coming to say 😂
Lucifer Morningstar yes you did.. you paid money for the name not for the movement. Seiko, Hamilton, Sinn, Squale are quality brands and buck for money.
Wear what you like.. but these watches suck.
What about a relic watch?
Buying a mvmt or daniel wellington is a big mistake
No MVMT watches please, just no. Buy something from Seiko, Sinn, Oris or Hamilton instead.
Shantanu or Casio, Doxa, Orient, Citizen
+ Vostok , Omega, Orient
Honestly you can get everything you need out of Swatch Group haha
What about Rolex?
Real Men Real Style
I was just going to say the same thing!
Don't waste your money on MVMT. Such a cheap brand, buy a Seiko or Orient instead.
Ivan Anaya ...Seiko ... Swatch Titan, and citizen.. tissot..
Mahantha Udayar Hanumanthaiyah Yes all those amazing brands
Timex also
Don't sell this crap,please!
Congrats! Currently wearing my Orient day date ;)
Good choice
Great choice and the TGV is a great place to learn about real watches
The Remnant 1611 how much did you pay for your day date and where did you get it from? Bc the resell for those pieces is killer
Congrats! Wonderful watch! Glad for you.
Sadly, this makes me rethink those areas I looked to RMRS for advice, where I don't have the same level of knowledge
echochapman well said. RMRS will sell Yeezys to all the hypebeast next.
well said, I feel the same way, these so called "watches" are junk
Ben Arthur made a good video about MVMT
Which watch mistake did you forget? Buying MVMT or any such fashion watch is a big mistake.
this is just a big ad for his sponsor... no offense man, but those watches suck
First time I was forced to dislike Antonio's video. Sad
Aleksandr Murnikov you’ll have more opportunity if he keeps going this direction. Maybe he’ll take all the comments seriously.
Aleksandr Murnikov i
Same here 1st dislike
hard to take this serious when I see the watches you are recommending
Gary Agree
Also he is wearing a jean shirt

Buying MVMT is already a mistake. I'd rather buy a mechanical watch with handwinding + selfwinding like seiko's and orient at the fraction of price.
What does mechanical and hand-winding have to do with style? This is a fashion channel, not a watch channel.
Not wasting money on an over priced (chinese) "fashion" watch seems pretty fashionable to me???
This is a video about watches, you get that right?
@@cajanir How about finding real watches in a similar style, at the same price or cheaper AND built with quality.
Watch buying mistake #1: Buying MVMT watches
Working as a state and federal government employee, A watch does state a lot about you. Your level of professionalism, attention to detail, and oddly enough work ethic. At least in my area, Rolex, Omega, and at times Breitling are the mid teir gold standard. Is there a direct correlation between all perceptions? Perhaps not. However, a man - in my professional field- is allowed two pieces of jewelry: A watch and a wedding band. YOU are worth more than a $10 material watch.
Watch buying mistake #0
Buying MVMT watches
That should be "Watch buying mistake #0: Buying MVMT Watches". You just said not buying them was a mistake.
Yeah, you are right lol, editing my comment
Normally I like your videos but this is just an advertisement.
I agree
Yeah, Movement is an awful brand; and their product is just one that discerning consumers don’t want. I often like what you do, and I like some of the lines you promote, but having Movement as your sponsor hurts your credibility in general.
Bro, delete this.
Military heritage in his intro, then sells shitters to RUclips noobs lol
It's okay, opening up the world to smaller channels that reject the salesman nature of "the big three" channels ;-)
Antonio, please do not make more commercials on low quality products... It is dissapointing.
The video was really annoying to watch because of the sponsor. It's okay to mention it once but if you mention it every ten seconds it is really frustrating!
M.K not to mention every photo
Yess
i love you Antonio but MVMT watches have to go. Agree with people in the comments.. MVMT watches are horrible and people shouldn't buy them. Do not waste your money on them, they're not worth it. Please Antonio look for another sponsor that your viewers actually like. It'll help us and it'll help you at the same time.
a full vedio of advertisement 😒
What - there was a LOT of info in this video!
An ad veiled as information. Hypocritical to reason 1 presented in the video. “Don’t buy what someone else wants you to, but buy this Chinese junk”
TheDpo1 Have you tried it?
I don't need to. I know watches and I know quality.
i am only here to make myself laugh
TheDpo1 Agree with you 100%. I understand that Antonio relies on sponsors to keep his channel going, but getting behind crap like Mvmt will only make loyal viewers question his credibility, which will lead to people leaving this channel. Really hope he looks at the number of dislikes and comments and rethinks who he promotes.
Yuma Super Silver how do you think they compare to Vincero?
NATO bands are stylish and looks extremely sharp, I love it.
Its always fun to guess when Antonio uploads video about watches is it vincero or mvmt he is promoting😂
Darth Vader which are actually crap
Is Vincero crap? did you ever buy one?
sNow yes it is
Vincero is actually a decent watch.
Unbelievable that a mens fashion youtuber wears a too big blazer!
LOL
Antonio, this video is more an advertisement than an informative video. Be careful that the ad doesn't cover the content in a big extent.
Pleeeeeeaase Antonio no MVMT or Vincero. Omega, rolex, tissot, Longines etc. For budget seiko, Orient, Hamilton.
RMRS is getting the sponsorship from advertising MVMT to fund his Rolex. Good job!
Have to agree with most of the comments and also bring in some of the notes by The Urban Gentry
#11 Dont buy fashion watches.
#12 Don't buy replica watches
#13 Don't buy illegal copies
#14 If a watch manufacturer is not proud enough to announce what exact movement/caliber they are using in their watch, better skip it.
Great advice. Thanks
Seiko
1. Buying a fashion brand Watch with Chinese quartz moment
Number one problem:
Buying a movement watch 😂😂
I wear a Tissot Chemin Des tourelles automatic, the most beautiful watch imo, but I never see anyone talking about Tissot.... why?
My advice to people just getting into watches -
The only thing we truly own is our time, so put something on your wrist that values and reminds you that time is always ticking, so make the most out of it.
If you want a watch just to tell the time, then why not just use your phone?
Hi Antonio, Next time please include Seiko, Orient, Timex, Citizen, Vostok, Tissot, Swatch .. you know the brand list.. ( Best watches under 200 / 300 usd)
very nice video. I usually hate channels that have sponsors in their video, but you were able to plug your sponsor without rambling for 2 minutes how great they are
Tip that you missed: Stop buying over priced cheap chinees watches like mvmt and start buying watches that will last you a life time (does not have to be expencive!!!!!!!)
Antonio, I liked that you included the recommended case diameter for wrist size- nice tip👍🏻.
Sorry but MVMT is just a cheap watch. Don't waste money on this brand. Get a real watch
Surreal Oblivion have you bought one?
Omar Gutierrez no I actually haven't bought one. I stay away from fashion watches. I do however have friends that had them and other fashion brands and I was not impressed and yet to be.
Omar Gutierrez I bought one and it stopped after two weeks.
Good video antonio like the versatility
Seriously? MVMT watches? I mean don't get me wrong they look great but are awful quality for the price. Have you no shame?
Most versatile first watch is a Seiko SKX 007, 009, or 013 and a Timex Weekender.
From the comments all I can see is hate for MVMNT. I cannot wait to see Antonio's video response to this.
Don't hold your breath.
+Darragh Tate I don't need to
Roy M.B. do you support him?
Good video by the way
Holy shit every body is saying not to buy this watch. That’s no good
Can they ship in India?
lol advertisement
Just and observation: I find it funny that all these stylechannels that promote these bad price quality watches like vincero are indirectly promoting Seiko and Orients. People who read the comments see the brand Seiko over and over. XD
Ha! good point!
I’m just very proud of the high number of people who do know their watches and recognize that MVMT is just a fashion item.
Good for you, my good gentries @theurbangentry
Something to add would be to ignore the "pay for shipping and get a free watch" ads. If it looks to good to be true it is.
anthonymsalerno That's an exaggeration. I went for that once. Used it for a year before it broke. So wasn't bad for like the $7 shipping I paid for it. Cheap watch but looked good
I feel bad cause I just bought one 🤦🏻♂️
Omega sea-masters, Sinn 104, Seiko sarb033, vintage watches on the used market
For $700-1000, you could get a high quality vintage Omega (maybe Omega DeVille), or the slightly underrated Universal Geneve. Just be careful about who you buy from, you don't want a frankenwatch, redial, or, obviously, fake. Another type of watch that I like that's actually below that price range are vintage chronographs, specifically with the Landeron 48 movement. There watches are from pretty much unknown brands, but they're fairly high quality and look fantastic. Just be aware, with vintage watches you need to be careful, they're not that robust and can be water damaged quite easily.
Tnanks a lot guys you are really helping me out here 😉😄
What I feel was my mistake was buying a dress watch for the sake of having a dress watch (and don't get me wrong-I feel naked without a watch).
1. Don’t buy mvmt garbage
Nr. 1: Don't buy a crappy Quartz watch for over 100 bucks unless it is literally the only watch on the planet for you.
Below is my recommendation for a minimalist 3-piece watch collection that I would like to call "Great 38s", where all watches have the size 38mm, sensibly priced, of high quality and of course complements a stylish man's wardrobe!
Watch #1: Diver's Watch - Japanese - Automatic - Seiko SKX013
- Great bang for buck diver's watch at a sensible price.
Watch #3: Sternglas Zeitmesser - German - Quartz (Swiss Ronda Movement) - Bauhaus Design Inspired Watch
- Since it is quartz it's battery powered which means I don't have to worry so much about servicing and I know it will still run after a long period of not wearing it.
It think it covers all bases:
Style: Diver's, Field Watch, Bauhaus
Country of Origin: Japan, Switzerland, Germany
Movements: Automatic Mechanical, Handwind Mechanical, Battery Powered Quartz
What do you think?
thanks for all the advices. you're awesome!
Solar quartz is even better. Once you open case back, difficult to maintain WR (water resistance).
I subscribed to this channel because I don't know much about men's fashion. But I know my watches, and after this video I actually start to doubt a lot of other videos on this channel. But still, this video is relatively neutral and honest compare to a lot of other videos on youtube.
Another great video Antonio thank you very much
I avoid live TV because of the adverts, what makes you think I want to watch this advertisement Antonio??
Hey Antonio I figured the most affordable way to actually keep off neck stains on your collar for good. The solution is simple. Using tape. I stuck sheets of tape on the inside of my neck collar to act as a barrier between my neck and my shirt. After a few hours, the neck stains got on the tape which can be quickly wiped away with ease. You don't have to remove the tape. I just simply let it stick on the inside of the neck collar, read your be used again. Antonio, could you please share this tip with us in a video.
I have been really enjoying my SKAGEN watches lately.
I have a Nixon and a Samsung Gear Frontier smart watch
I use my smart watch way more often because it's just too useful.
1. MVMT watches are absolute terrible quality, I saw numbers fall off under glass on my friends MVMT watches
2. Google it - MVMT has 3,2/10 stars on Truspilot
3. They are not stylish, ugly desing, watches for real man are automatic watches, or at least some cheaper brands with swiss movement if you are on budget - Jacques Lemans, Tissot, Festina, Junkers...
You should delete this and issue separate video with appology :/
Antônio . MVMT does send watches overseas ?
Good video and thanks for your edvaice
StefC10 no brother you can get them adjusted at any watch shop
I know, Ive been doing that for years but my eyes bleed everytime I see others wear watches that arent adjusted haha
Mine too bro 😂
I'm not thrilled about MVMT anymore after four months of use. Just placed my order from Timex. Hopefully they'll be a better replacement..
I just bought my second watch yesterday hopefully it fulfills the criteria. (I'm 15 btw)
Antonio the type of Cent..... Oh, I'm sorry 😄
Haha!
hi antonio,u r marketing so many watches from 5th,vincero,original ge=rain n now mvmt so how we can trust what is better , n you all the time say u hv used it for past 2/3 yrs its wierd
Amry Mohomed they are all bad. You can get an actual good watch for the same amount of money like an seiko skx
Linus thanks man appreciate u,actually i one Casio, edifice n a g shock,I'm using for different purposes ,May be I'll try for Seiko in future
Quartz Pros:
- Easy/cheap to get serviced
- Inexpensive to produce/inexpensive to buy
- Quality quartz movements keep more accurate time than mechanical ones
- Light weight and thin, so you can have very low profile watches
- You can set the time, and forget it without having to worry about it stopping
Quartz Cons:
- Cheap movements can have an audible "tick"
- Ticking seconds hands just look bad (personal preference)
- Quartz takes the craftsmanship out of watchmaking (with the exception of luxury brands such as Rolex who have a couple quartz models)
Mechanical Pros:
- No battery to replace
- They are works of engineering art
- The sweep of the second hand is aesthetically pleasing to watch
Mechanical Cons:
- Time has to be set if unworn for too long because the movement stops
- More moving parts = more can go wrong with the watch
- Servicing is more expensive/time consuming/frequently needed than quartz
- Less accurate than quartz, needs to be regulated in order to keep time
All in all, quartz would seem like the better deal, however people who actually appreciate watches and the history of horology will admire the time and skill that goes into creating the beautiful works of engineering art that are mechanical movements.
The Remnant 1611 thanks!
And for that treeachyoself watch... rather than dumping $3500 to $9000 on a Rolex Sub or Omega Seamaster, $2000 can buy you a premium watch of hard to match movement quality from Nomos Glashutte.
so much dislikes on this video.
