Stein was not the strongest of the two in this match, physically speaking but he had a very strong spirit and he fought hard and kept moving forward and he never gave up. that is what a warrior looks like.
When a master with perfect control gets surprised by a less known fighter... Probably triggered by Steins mawashi geri that just missed, but could have landed way too hard. The rules are clear. This is not full contact and shihan Ted made a good call. For Stein to score on Kagawa like this was awesome though. Big respect to both!
when you are hit hard and fall but not knockouted or injured you are not yet hit with no control. had Kagawa hit hard the Norwegian he could have been knockouted. Kagawa can not do anything against the biased referee.
Sensei Kagawa for me the winner of this match. His opponent too hyperactive... he had to calm him down a little ;) Respect for both competitors, but Kagawa is top. OSS!!!
Like a Bird v a Panther....sorry to say Kagawa lost his cool, but this is the nature of competition, nothing like a real encounter, then Kagawa would have destroyed this opponent...he is an incredible athlete forged in the JKA Instructors class, toughest environment imaginable....
are you serious? !!! that prouves that you don't know karate at all !! the other dancer as you called him was much better than your Kagawa, llol, haven't you seen the mawachi geri in his face , and what about kizam oitsuki ? Kagawa became very nervous cause he lost
The day has came when the West no longer glorify Japanese karateka without truly knowing the greats of their own country. Japanophilia in karate is still an ailment which blinds the Western world and continues to make many feel lesser when in fact our karate has grown to not be as great but even better. Different frame type, different karate.
On street opponent might act accordingly. It's idea behind sportskarate competition to do exactly that. Act accordingly. Maybe it's idea behind whole karate...
Is this the kind of fight where you get rewarded for pretending you killed your opponent with a "kiya" death punch into the body? They should try that shit in Kyokushin. Don't worry, ladies, I did my share of tournaments and katas. What a joke. Just for fun, do a drop in at a thai boxing place or kickboxing gym for some reality check. Better yet a bjj sparring. Bruised ego guaranted. Andy Hug is an exception, now that was the Warrior!
Someone will tell them that their guard should be high, on the jawline ... It's hard to look at ...No wonder anyone deadly, lethal karateka dominates the UFC or PRIDE...
Kagawa unfortunately lost concentration and there is no doubt that it was a learning experience, because he lost his mental balance in overcoming a very good competitor; for what I noticed and I apologize for this mistake, but he (Norwegians) is left-handed, and it made a big difference. So this one deserves all respect as well and this never takes away the merit of Kagawa being an excellent karateka and instructor.
minute 2:34, Kagawa really a bad looser !! Stein Rønning could beat him too, but his was respecting the rules as a real Karateka with a perfect control, Kagawa was not not controling his technics at all !!
Kagawa`s teacher, sensei Asai said once to our group - `Karate shouldn`t be a dance, as it`s now in sport karate! It`s a life or death situation!` The Norwegian guy is dancing like a chicken in trans... That`s what`s happening to the current karate! A pitiful Touch-and-go boy, Kagawa is ``MovingDeath``! 👋 I had great honor to practice with Asai and Kagawa (Katayama sensei in Nagoya) ... T.Asai also said once to us in Jap. izakaya - `The mind should be like a moon`! Years later...still pondering over, hehe... Whoever has practiced with the Japanese in Japan, will understand what I`m referring to! Blissful sport amateurs, will send only meaningless replies... 🤣😂
¡Mucha pieza Ronning para Kagawa! [6-0] ...
That attack in 4:02 shows kagawa as the better fighter. the caucasian was not able to defend the attack and so the punch of kagawa penetrated his defense and got hit. The caucasian is the one that keep on attacking and if one of his strike hit kagawa perhaps he will also get knock down but in this video the caucasian can not land a hard hit to the face against kagawa but kagawa with his attack landed an effective hit. However, because the caucasian must have been injured by the hit of kagawa then the later is considered to have use unnecessary force and his effective hit was not considered point; but the caucasian's hit was points so he won. By rule the caucasian won because kagawa was penalized. me think the decision is not good because the caucasian could have injured kagawa with his attacking hits. The caucasian can be proud of winning by getting knocked while he was not able to knock his opponent. It is Bullshit to say that the caucasian had been controlling his strikes. No, his strikes landed but does not have enough force and he cannot hit kagawa at the face.
Levou muitos gyaku zuki no tórax. Oss.
Waza da to wa omoen ga... I don't think he faked the fall or that he remained in the floor on purpose. Kagawa should have showed respect by worrying about his opponent instead of turning around coldly.
SKK will always miss you Stein Rønning you were a good sensei for us before you past away.. We will always remember you!
Kagawa should have won this. His legitimate hits were not being counted - so naturally he went harder with them to make them count more.
Are you serious ? Are you blond or what? I'm note sure you know karete rules !!
Stein was not the strongest of the two in this match, physically speaking but he had a very strong spirit and he fought hard and kept moving forward and he never gave up. that is what a warrior looks like.
Wow kagawa is talented fighter
Kagawa is a no-nonsense karateka and his jodan punches are lightening.
Kagawa would've won if the referees was japanese

@@diosdadoapias LOL. The referees were Swedish and Japanese.
Great Karate by Stein...
kagawa kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiou, i love the attack at min 2:02, lol he even didn't see him coming !!
Sensei Kagawa for me the winner of this match. His opponent too hyperactive... he had to calm him down a little ;) Respect for both competitors, but Kagawa is top.
OSS!!!
for me too
Nakayama Sensei called it asobi karate, or rabbit karate
Anymore further comment on that? Or related videos? I would be glad if you could share it, thanks.
2:33 this is karate
This competition has rules. Hits must be controlled. Yeah, that is karate if used in a street fight, not here.
I believe the tall judge is my childhood sensei Ted Hedlund 7th dan. Some Karate giants are on that mat:)
Ridiculous Norwegian Chicken! Painful to watch - him and equally talented Judges! 😊
Good stuff! they really go at it. Ronning fights like Cobra Kai. ah ha
Great Fight !!
Like a Bird v a Panther....sorry to say Kagawa lost his cool, but this is the nature of competition, nothing like a real encounter, then Kagawa would have destroyed this opponent...he is an incredible athlete forged in the JKA Instructors class, toughest environment imaginable....
Vídeo Fantástico OSS! !!💪💪💪👊👏
So, blocks are not working? Even Kagava the great master cannot defend himself?
Much prefer this than current kumite
Masao Kagawa o melhor !!!! !!the big winner!!!the other a dancer, not a karateka.
are you serious? !!! that prouves that you don't know karate at all !! the other dancer as you called him was much better than your Kagawa, llol, haven't you seen the mawachi geri in his face , and what about kizam oitsuki ? Kagawa became very nervous cause he lost
kartaie traditionnel v karatie moderne
The referees are blind on this match its 3 against one
Gooood mach ..
Kagawa got beat, it's a karate competition not a street fight.
Rønning was trying to take his head of with full power head kicks, get real. He was asking for it.
I will not be happy being declared the winner when I am the one being hit hard and fall.
This is why you don't fight a Master Kagawa.
The day has came when the West no longer glorify Japanese karateka without truly knowing the greats of their own country. Japanophilia in karate is still an ailment which blinds the Western world and continues to make many feel lesser when in fact our karate has grown to not be as great but even better. Gobble down a paddy, mcsir
Nice!
Control?none better. Clearly his Tsuki is too fast for referee to see.
Kagawa's kicks aren't being scored at all, nor are several of his punches.

SENSEI KAGAWA IS VERY GOOD, BUT IN THIS FIGHT HE HIT BECAUSE HE COULD NOT WIN, I WANT SEE HIM TO HIT THIS WAY SENSEI YAHARA IN MACH
Sotokankarate0!
On street Kagawa winner. On sport opponent.
On street opponent might act accordingly. It's idea behind sportskarate competition to do exactly that. Act accordingly. Maybe it's idea behind whole karate...
Hi everybody,I agree with You!!
Kawada has more control and really It,s more important.
Unbelievable referee didn't honer the jodan mawashi which is ipon.
What was the occasion?

take it easy lil peshy, you can always shove that reality check up yours, it's on me!
A shotokan guy would take the head off if they followed through, we play non contact, not boxing…
jaja NOO
A superman punch at 2:31 (Before it was called like that!)

bad to the bone,..thats real there\

lol they dont allow head punching or takedowns...can you imagine what would happen in real situation with no point sparring lol lol

you're full of crap and "the caucasian" name is Stein

They need to wear gloves, head & feet protection gear....easy way end fighters carrier. 😁!
Sorry not Budo....We must control our blows, that is the rule, and why he got disqualified....
What?????
A rather undeserved victory.

haha !! Kagawa his a bas looser !!
stupid karate, no full contact
Waza da to wa omoen ga...

That caucasian referee give the win to the caucasian player.
