Vocal minorities should be treated as just that: Minor voices in a larger community. Now, if a large part of the community is asking for change, then devs should consider it. But this constant effort to try and get people outside the game's (any game) fan base to play it who never would have played in the first place is what turns unique games into cookie cutter, mediocre games.
The thing is though. What do people actually want?... Open world games are are getting to the stage where its all be done and said. Drive here, collect this, go here. The way he describes far cry cookie cutter is the exact same way as every other open world game is. If they wanted to change it they should come away from open world and go more linear, focused, story driven

You don't change a winning formula. Far cry 5 and new dawn didn't add anything good. I didn't need anything revolutionary after FC4, just some tweeks here and there to make it more perfect.

I know for a fact I am getting this from Santa for Xmas this year lol. Iv never played far cry before but I like just cause, days gone, last of us, ghost of Tsushima, ghost recon, infamous, and dying light... So I am hoping this will be pleasing for me.
Honestly , and this is just my opinion , the game is really good , 8,5/10 being objective, 9/10 on my personal opinion. I have never understood the complaints about far cry keeping its core gameplay and items similar. If I want another game. I buy another new game. If I want another far cry , and I’m 80% sure I’m talking for most of the fan base here , I want a new map , a new villain, and some new additions. But keep my gameplay similar. If they changed a lot of things , this review would be saying: This is not a far cry game This doesn’t feel like far cry I’f you wanted some new open world game , good , but if you like far cry games this isn’t for you. But because it did , what’s right , and kept the game like we like it , the review says : if you were looking for something new , this isn’t for you. And quotes vass. I find it interesting, people dont like a game that doesnt change things up and feels the same. When the developer/publisher change things up as requested they are then criticised that they changed and lost the original feel of the game. So which is it? You only need to look at past reviews to see this. One game theres a request to change the feel of the game, the sequel changes and the next review is a complaint about how they changed and lost the feel.
Assassins creed is the perfect example. You now have half the fan base bitching and moaning it's not ac anymore. People should know what to expect from a game and review it for what it is not what it was or what you want it to be.
Well, they could have at least attempted to upgrade the core engine and gameplay of the game. Like enable a better gore system, dismemberment, better stealth, add more details to enemy reaction like getting shot to the leg they will limp or shoot their arms to improvise their fighting tactics. Perhaps learn a bit from the last of us or dying light. Also, they need a better driving implemented. Ubisoft apparently just have terrible driving in all their games. What about 60 fps? What about destructible environments? I could go on and on, but they need to add some details to the core gameplay.
I was getting confused watching the gameplay, it looks mote like Just Cause 5. More boom and less story. I’d be happier with less boom and more story. To use these high profile actors to draw you in an, ala Cyberpunk, and not give their storylines some uhm is a waste. My opinion. I’m just more story driven than most. I will play but will wait for a sale down the road. Great review!
They can't "change the recipe", because that wouldn't be Far Cry, and it most certainly would alienate a huge percentage of the fan base. But they should be looking for more ways to improve it, though.
Thanks, for the review, Ian. I think Far Cry fans know what to expect going into a FC game at this stage? If it's a deep, life-altering story... This is not the series for it. While it's a shame to waste big talents like Gianacarlo Espisito, we're never going to get a KOTOR-level story with plot twists that leave us thinking about it weeks after we're done playing it. This is not what FC is about. It's about presenting a big, fun, open world sandbox with OTT characters (on both sides) whose sole purpose is to prop up a paper thin story as an excuse to blow shit up. Far Cry has been this way dating all the way back to the first game, so it's intrinsic to the series. Once again, thanks, for the honest review and leaving it up to fans to decide if they want to pick it up, ultimately.
Far Cry is becoming Just Cause by the sound of it. I never much cared for the stories in Far Cry games though, as long as it's a fun sand box to mess around in then that's fine by me.
Also remember before you buy that Ubisoft allowed a culture of abuse and instituted various coverups to protect people high up in the company from some grim accusations, failed to apologise and still hasn't really done anything about it. (Also thanks to Jim Stephanie Sterling for being almost the only one still trying to talk about this). Personally I wouldn't buy the game.

Underneath the new HD textures and slightly different lighting, it's another reskin of Far Cry 3. Same animations, AI, mechanics, gameplay, shooting and even physics. The only difference is that enemies in this version of far cry 3 require 20 - 40 bullets to be killed.
umm, you said you cant base jump? I dont even own the game but i know from other reviews you 100% can and you even get a wing suit and can TP to any place unlocked by jumping out a helicopter .. da hell you mean?
You get overpowered too quickly in these games. I tend to hold off using the overpowered guns etc and just use the traditional set. Maybe use the big gun a couple of times & pretend it's jammed or something lol! Same with leveling up, I never increase attack power etc.
Clearly many disagree with you because sales dictate whether they keep making it like this, if it were to change then it wouldn’t be a far cry game really. Same reason I like the Lego games, same shit, different locations and theme with each game but that’s why I like them.
Funny how everyone forgets FC Primal. They tried a different direction and half the fan base hated it. It was a good game that could have been approved upon. Now we're back to the same thing again.

It’s always been about the game play, which video game developers should really put as first priority, cause you know, it’s a video game first and foremost. I Have a very strange bug in the game that I can't seem to get rid of I can't crouch therefore I can do no stealth I've restarted the game tweaked the controls nothing I can it's nothing I cannot crouch hopefully this can be fixed
Good review, thanks. I am playing Farcay 6 now and to tell the truth I am disappointed. There is little tension and not real much emutsion in the game, lots of flash but no real bang so far. I love all the past main games but this one is more just ok..

@@paulc2007 3rd person cutscenes and gameplay sequences, new activities, play as male or female, weather effects etc are all new additions so I wouldn't say it's a TOTAL copy and paste, in some areas it is yes like outposts, OTT villain, companions. The companions are fun, the co-op is fun, the graphics are stunning, gun play is great, acting is great etc.
Ubisoft seem to have lost their way recently and are taking advice from all the wrong sources. They claimed no-one will refuse to buy FC6 just because it does not have a map editor. Wrong. Hear I am. A massive fan of the series and I'm not buying. Many more like me I'm sure. The map editor was always getting better and better, even if the actual games lacked innovation. FC6 just isn't good enough to stand on its own two feet. Screen tear = straight in the trash can. Ubisoft have lost their way. After the excellent GR Wildlands they dumped GR Breakpoint on us. After masterpieces like AC Origins and AC Odyssey, they dumped AC Valhalla on us. Watch Dogs had potential but never really got there. Watch Dogs Legion just took all the silly stuff from Watch Dogs 2 and made it the big focus. It's got so bad I won't even care if MS buy Ubisoft. This isn't a rant, I'm just telling Ubisoft why they keep failing. Sad.

I find videogame males to be the same generic muscly short-haired pattern practically every single time & that never appealed to me. I have played Deus Ex & plenty of other games where you have to play as that character & that's more than enough for me, so I go female when given the option.

Ubisoft seem to have lost their way recently and are taking advice from all the wrong sources. They claimed no-one will refuse to buy FC6 just because it does not have a map editor. Wrong. Hear I am. A massive fan of the series and I'm not buying. Many more like me I'm sure. The map editor was always getting better and better, even if the actual games lacked innovation. FC6 just isn't good enough to stand on its own two feet. Screen tear = straight in the trash can. Ubisoft have lost their way. After the excellent GR Wildlands they dumped GR Breakpoint on us. After masterpieces like AC Origins and AC Odyssey, they dumped AC Valhalla on us. Watch Dogs had potential but never really got there. Watch Dogs Legion just took all the silly stuff from Watch Dogs 2 and made it the big focus. It's got so bad I won't even care if MS buy Ubisoft. This isn't a rant, I'm just telling Ubisoft why they keep failing. Sad.

I don't have any problem playing as a woman but games that o do have the choice,my very natural instinct is to choose a man,since I man you know🙄 which makes me wonder why many man choose a woman to play as? Because again I have nothing again playing as a woman,hell Lara Croft is on my top 5 favorite characters but why you been a man and having the choice to play as one why you choose a woman?
I find videogame males to be the same generic muscly short-haired pattern practically every single time & that never appealed to me. I have played Deus Ex & plenty of other games where you have to play as that character & that's more than enough for me, so I go female when given the option.
I stopped the video once he admitted he is a fc3 fan. Sick of it.
