Recently came across your channel and I just wanted to say thank you for all of the useful information. I currently work at a franchised spa and it’s true, you don’t make great money working for one. So to all of my new esthis looking to work at a spa, gain your experience and get out because there’s no growth unless you do your own thing.

I like the point when you said Don't use the discount because you going to get always people who looking only for discount not for looking after their skin

I am a spa owner and my question to you is - why would you pay someone 20 to even 50 % commission when they do not contribute to the cost of products and the overhead expense?? You need to learn business skills bc no one is gonna payout so much money. Besides, if you are paying out more than 30% in income you will be operating at a loss. Liability insurance, malpractice insurance - I do hope you have those including general liability. So while it sounds good to work for yourself, you will need to come to reality with the business/administrative aspect.

Awesome video. Does it make financial sense to lease a hotel spa for 5-6k/month (utilities included) that been closed for a while, with previous revenues of 175k-200k a year of gross income? If not, what amount would make sense?

Depending on location commission varies rent also varies…. In California everything is more… I get 40-50% commissions as an independent contractor and when working for a local high end resort $40 dollars an hour while in session 60-90 minute sessions and $15 dollars between sessions doing random chores….
Yes when renting commercial space I get 100% yet you aren’t talking about the overhead…. Rent electricity tools of the trade massage table to towels sheets hot stones oil…. My favorite LAUNDRY on the ENDLESS cycle ….. advertising …. Blah blah blah !
I’m about to re open my spa after being shut down during Covid… I’m looking at 3 grand a month for a full service spa with retail space and 4 treatment rooms!
A small office solo is around 700 -to A grand nothing special or renting space in someone else’s spa hourly or monthly varies…..
You left out a fee details! Not to mention accounting and detailed tax prep…. State & feds all get a bit off your budget baby!
There’s cost to being your own independent contractor massage and or esthetician!
15 years in the Spa business on the a Central Coast California in the resort and tourist industry!
    Just saying ❤
