polished area around pivot, swedge and top of blade don't show damascus pattern. wonder if it's just a surface treatment.

It’s not a surface treatment. But they polish off the acid treatment which exposes the layers around the pivot so it won’t affect the smooth action.

Thanks Lee, I heard they tightened up that detent since the V1 was pretty weak, but how do you know what version you’re getting ?
Skiffs has some “Finger Bits” for sale that come in real handy when you’re fighting a free spinning pivot, a cheap little tool that makes life a little easier. Take Care Lee😮

I have the old Version from the Shard with Timascus Inlays for 300 and the new one with black/White Nebula CF and Damascus for 160! 144 with your Code LTK! 😉 The Price ar very good for such a great Knife and a way much better with your Code! 👍🏻

Kansept damasteel is comprised of 9cr and 440c, I'd go with the s35 version.
