We drove 6 hours West to the SoCal Retro Gaming Expo in Ontario, California! We had the pleasure of meeting some incredible people, bought lots of games, and had a great time!
In this episode we are on the hunt for a few gaming grails!
This is part one of three videos in the series. Stay tuned to the next in which we attempt to trade a valuable Funko Pop for expensive video games!

I always think it's amazing to see a Chrono Trigger copy as good as this one. Congratulations. :D
Thanks so much! We were so excited!
Love expensive cardboard!!!
Haha yes!
Glad your bro picked up Stella Glow. Underrated.
so strange that I come across more old videos of yours although I went through them all on your channel. happy to found them and watch them now :-)
Thanks so much for watching 😀
Great pick ups! Glad you were able to get a deal on the Chrono Trigger and Solatorobo.
Great scores today guys. Would love to see a detailed video on how you removed stickers from that precious cardboard please! 👍
I've never seen a metal slime edition vita that is way cool and very tempting too!
Haha I knew Carlos was going to be potentially interested in the POP ! Hopefully you guys made a deal happen for it.
$1000 for two games… I can’t even imagine.
Great video. I actually used that army simulator, while in the army lol. Cool to see it again
Thays nuts!
@@JRPGLife ya it was during BRM weapon training in basic. :)
Just for kicks I will answer the question - it is so hard to pick a favorite but I think it would be a toss up between Pokemon (Red/Blue/Yellow), FF7 or Super Mario RPG (with honorable mention to the Dark Cloud Series and Legend of Dragoon), just due to the memories with them. When it comes to worst I can't really answer it as I have loved all the games I have played. I knew there was a Metal Slime 2DS (Japanese Exclusive) but never knew about the Vita, it looks sooooooooooo nice. I have never been to an Expo, so thank you (as well as other RUclipsrs) for doing videos like this and allowing people like me to experience it through you. Congrats on the finds and pickups, and getting one of your grails off your list Dan. Having the knowledge of JRPGs and RPGs in general, I think it would be cool to see a video talking about your Top 10 (or 5 each) of RPGS on the cheap, since as cool as the heavy hitters are, the cheaper options I find are just as (if not sometimes more) fun. Thank you for all the wonderful content guys. #Roadto3k
Nice find especially the Doctor mario 64 wow
Woah, I've seen several V-Jump Chrono Triggers, but never that pre-release one! Silhouette Mirage is amazing. Forget Working Designs, it's made by Treasure.
I wish more people at game expos would be willing to negotiate on price, especially when they are already overpriced. I feel like some vendors use the experience of FOMO on some people who don’t know the current market prices and that feels a little like taking advantage of people. I love to haggle and I understand that it’s a business so trying to make a profit is needed for shops, but come on, 150% over price and not budging even a little bit? It would have been a hard pass for me too. Keep up the great videos and content, your home collection is awesome!!
Thanks for saying so 😀
Yeah some of the vendors were very good about negotiating, some had fair prices already listed, it's been a mix for sure
Hey guys, love the videos! Have watched every single one, pretty much!
Just a liiiiil feedback: I don't think you need that loud transition sound when info boxes etc pop up and disappear, it's a bit on the abrasive side!
Thanks for the feedback 🙂
@ 9:33 I bought that green gba bottom right 😁 , saw you guys there but was too shy to say hi 🙈, solatorobo is also my holy grail , nice pick ups guys
Aw man we would have loved for you to come say hi to us! Nice pick up on that green GBA!
I remember buying earth bound as a kid only because it had scratch and sniff stickers
Yes!!
Silhouette Mirage is a Treasure game - pretty divisive as far as opinions go. It works on a binary mechanic that Treasure later iterated on more famously with Ikaruga, but hey - it's Treasure, it's Working Designs... so yeah, it deserves a spot in any serious collector's library, regardless of whether you end up liking the game or not. Also available on Saturn as a JP only release I think?
I hope you'll find also the Gameboy light Astroboy Edition that's was rad
Great to see a channel about retro games that isn’t a sneaky reselling channel. Respect.
To be perfectly honest, a lot of our content consists of us filling our video game collection for free through game hunting, trading, and reselling. This trip was entirely funded through reselling (but we both have non-reselling full-time jobs). Check out some of our previous videos for details 😀
@@JRPGLife Oh I see. I guess I just assumed incorrectly. Sorry about that.
*sigh*
The good news is that, if resellers didn't exist, none of us would be able to find and buy video games used anymore. Even local game stores are technically resellers. Don't hate, appreciate! 😀
@@JRPGLife Incorrect. Used videos existed before eBay. The games were cheaper with the trade off you only could buy what was in your area.
So based on your reasoning, we have to either buy video games new, or choose to buy used video games from a local reseller like a local video game shop or gamestop. But if we want used games that are not available locally, we should not buy them because it would require us to buy them from different resellers online that are somehow "sneaky" even though they are reselling just like GameStop is...?
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yoooooooooooooooooo I was the Sunday afternoon. Sorry I missed you both.
Nice haul, 👌
Love the videos keep up the good work
Mine is final fantasy tactics and worse I ever played is crono cross. But haven't played crono cross in over 20 years and maybe I should give it another chance. I did rebuy it.
Nice pick ups
Wow deal keep it up
Great channel - Subbed!
Hey thanks Mort!
Double jump games says that lost kingdom is the best game on ps2. Never played dr Mario maybe I should check it out. We picked up our first jrpg ffx2 international last mission. Hopefully u get something for greedo
FFX-2 is a fun game. Hope you enjoy it!
Why was the two game $1250 doe's anyone know why so expensive?
What is Game Hogs?
It's a shop in LA that we visited a few months ago in a previous video. Really nice people there, but they had unreasonably high prices and wouldn't negotiate enough for what we were looking for. I'm sure it's good for some, just not for us.
Can't wait for the next expo!
