I don't think Jules is addicted to love. She def wants male validation. She really wanted shy guys dick. She's just hyper sexual and needs someone that can match that libido and is sexually adventurous.
My biggest problem with Jules is that she's not seems understand in what she's got herself into. Dating an addict, or an ex-addict - no matter - is a pretty big deal, you have to know what are you doing and how to treat the person. But for her it's all fun and games like "oh you kinda sober now right? so we're good, we're just gonna make out a lot and have fun right?" and then at the fisrt sign of conflict she acts out. I know they're teens and not suppose to be smart about everything, however it's stil hurts my brain to watch how she's treating the whole situation like they are in a kinder garden, while at this point Rue's life is on con

Okay but can we talk about how Elliot came from the bathroom knowing what she snorted then literally said "let's steal some liquor" expected her not to drink. I tried so hard to forgive Jules for her season 1 antics after her therapist episode. The special. They kind of ruined jules’ character. Like in her special episode Jules talks about how much in love she was with Rue and how she didn’t want to lose her. And that rue was the only one who saw her for who she was. Now it’s completely contradicting because she’s literally cheating AGAIN on Rue. Like I’d rather they’d done the throuple thing if anything but overall they’re just really bad for each other

It's very messy, jules fights with gender roles and sexuality and is dating an addict who gives her no emotional satisfaction or validation. It was so easy for her to to her old ways cause what made her feel good with rue does not exist. Rue legit feels nothing anymore and to be honest rue isnt in love she just likes the idea the same way jules leaves in fantasy . Elliot is being messy as well, I don't why though. It was pretty predictable both rue and jules haven't treated each other right, rue by blaming jules for everything around her relapse which wasn't fair also she has gotten very mean whenever jules makes mistakes whereas she expects understanding while jules is flaky with little faith and kissing elliot was wrong.
Yo this show is so good because the characters are flawed!!! Their actions have consequences and us as the viewers will either hate them or love them but the fact that it's a mixed bag is what makes this great!!! Thank you guys for the comments!!!!
I kinda consider Elliot to be a foil to Fez. Both of them are a connection Rue has into a world of drugs in one way or another. While Fez isn’t happy with the life he has in terms of drugs, he tries to make the best of it and is a genuine and polite person. He also cuts off Rue when he doesn’t like what the drugs are doing to her. He’s not afraid of violence however and is willing to fight when words don’t work anymore. Elliot doesn’t really seem to be content OR unhappy with the life he has, not that we’ve really seen much of it. Elliot does have access to multiple kinds of drugs and is happy to share them with Elliot. While Elliot showed some remorse in episode 4 I feel like that remorse had probably been sitting ever since he found out Rue is an addict. It wasn’t enough to stop him however in between. Elliot is also incredibly manipulative and, whether he’s consciously aware of it or not, gaslights others into following his lifestyle under the guise of appearing philosophical. He also seems to be a coward whose afraid of confrontation, as seen that whenever a fight starts, that he intentionally causes, he runs away.

Rue isn’t presence in their relationship cuz she’s constantly too high. Elliot shows appreciation and attention to Jules. He compliments her, etc. I HATEEE this storyline & am not defending Jules’ cheating but I can see it from her perspective. This is basically her “relapsing” into old habits of getting validation from men.

I understand the parallels they’re trying to make, with both of them are using Elliot to feed their addictions and lying to each other about it. But I feel like they’re doing it in a way that makes both characters, especially Jules, so fucking unlikeable

Tbh i dont think jules and rue should be together. Here's why- First jules, she is a free spirit. I dont think she is so into the idea to be tied down to one person/relationship. She likes to experiment. hence, even though she likes rue, she is flirting with other people ( anna, elliot). Her liking to rue is mostly bcz she knows that rue likes her too much and wants to stay for long and she has a soft spot for her. That is why she cannnot leave her that easily. Besides she clearly have more experience with man and if anything she probably favor a somewhat long and invested relationship with man more than a girl to some extent. As for rue, she is too much tangled with her own stuffs and cant get out of it. She clearly not very kin to the idea of relationship and stuff. The only time she really felt something was for jules. But the thing is that her likings for jules is a second addiction. She is basically using jules/ the relationship as a way for escaping drugs. The moment jules gone she is back to the first addiction as seen in season 1. but in this season her mind is tricking her into finding way to have both of her addiction together. she wants to do drugs and also be with jules and she is doing both by lying. She is so wrapped around her both addiction that she wouldn't even notice any hint of jules cheating on her. So the main point is that even though they like each other they are just in it for their own motive not for the love itself.

We can keep grasping at straws here and debate wether or not they're good for each other or love each other but the fact is that as long as Rue's doing drugs, none of her relationships will last. LITERALLY so true. I think the relationship drama is distracting from rue's real issue, but at the same time it's just such a disservice to jules' character. yeah she's messy, they all are, but it's clear what she felt for rue was genuine and it's clear she's been traumatized by a lot the past year and her entire life. he really needs to not only let her co-write these episodes but also let other people in the writer's room in general, it's insane that he's solely directing & writing these episodes.
What I love about this show is that they portray everyone as imperfect. They show you a persons good side and their bad side, they don't manipulate you into favoritizing one character by making them holy. That way it's up to you who are you going to like and root for.

jules is toxic. Theres so many examples,-cheating on Rue twice, literally knowing how much Rue cared about her and telling her she was in love with Anna, leaving Rue while she went to New york, knowing Rue was having really bad anxiety, so so so many examples. I honestly still think Jules just wanted to be loved and she wasn't fully into Rue. Makes you wonder what would have happened that thing with Nate hadn't happened before she kissed Rue.
Well, I guess they did not actually ruined Jules as a charecter because the thing about development is that is not so easy and people often make the same mistakes as they did before realising the problem and reasons that causes it. Okay, it was nothing good about cheating, but! I just wanted to say that Jules can still has her problems in progress and she can't just walk through it like it's nothing. I guess she still needs validation and acceptence as a woman and she needs it from Rue as a person she love. But Rue doesn't give her that and treats her badly and blame her. Jules is still vulnerable and not as confident as she seems that is why she falls into Elliot so fast because he made her feel she is beautiful and deserves love.

Jules was born to be in a polyamorous relationship. That's not inherently bad, she doesn't know what commitment is. Either way, if there will be a threesome between Elliot, Jules, and Rue, that's fine. As long as Rue is okay with it if not, obviously it's called cheating. However, I don't think Rue is remotely on board with all of Jules' buffoonery so Rue should just let go of Jules and focus on herself (which is currently far-fetched but I do hope she realizes soon that Jules isn't good for her well-being.)

This show hits me very differently now that I'm almost 20, when I started watching, I was actually younger than Rue, and I absolutely idolised her, I was going through a teen phase of drinking and smoking 🍁 🚬, I was the Rue of my friend group, which I was sort of proud of at the time. Now I look at her and I can't relate to her at all. I don't like or dislike any of the characters now, seeing that they're younger than me now, I actually have an easier time understanding how vulnerable they actually are, at that age you think you're invicible, and that you're done growing up, that is the you forever, but things change so quickly between 16-19 and suddenly you find yourself actually thinking like an adult.

This shows gone to complete shit, I haven’t liked any of the characters in so long and everyone is so hateable and toxic and it’s just like why did they make it go this direction. Like I understand that Rue and Jules fighting is only natural since they both have many toxic traits and they aren’t good for each other but my brain is fried from all the different dynamics and I’m just trying to figure out like where this show is going. Like is Rue gonna be sold into drug trafficking or be forced to work as a prostitute for Laurie and that’s how her character ends? Is Jules just gonna revert back fully to how she was before and just continue finding Male Validation from people? Like it’s like everything is just going backwards and I’m on edge with like how everything is going. I just don’t understand what they’re gonna do with these characters unless they just like do a ton of fuckery with the plot and change it.
Honestly, as someone who dated problematic people most of the time, I'd fall for Elliot too (I mean he is still kinda problematic, but at least he seems to have no problems connecting with his emotions). And also good for Jules. I love Rue with all my heart as a character, but she is in no good place to love anyone right now, let's be real.

I just think that it’s funny how nate is so awful and abusive and people still think he’s hot and ship him with maddy, while jules starts being imperfect and makes mistakes and people are ready to hate her for it. IRL trans teens are more likely to exhibit risky behaviors because of a lack of support and identity issues, and jules has been struggling for a long time. I hate the direction her character has gone in, it seems like the writers don’t really know what to do with her anymore, but I also think she needs help just like rue does.
Look, Jules is imperfect but Rue needed to give it to her. Like Jules can't go around cheating on plp, and she is addicted to being love. In jules case it's not. In a polyamorous relationship all parties involved have a mutual understanding. Rue doesn't even know Jules kissed Elliot behind her back. It's cheating
I think people tend to be harder on Jules because she's not an addict like Rue, so Rue is allowed to do so mamy things that other characters would be slammed for. Although Jules isn't an addict, she also has lots of mental issues and can act erratically, it is true that they are not good for eachother, but we can't discount everything rue does and then blame Jiles for everything she does when she's fragile in her own way. As for Elliott, he's probably a little less addicted than Rue, but addicted nonetheless and when given the chance it's hard for him to resist. All I'm trying to say is, yes they make shitty decisions, but it isn't always about "poor Rue", because the show is about addiction, but it's also about so mamy other problems that affect various lives, and it's easy to be more gentle on someone who has an external problem like drugs, but what about the internal ones that every character has?

My biggest problem with Jules is that she's not seems understand in what she's got herself into. Dating an addict, or an ex-addict - no matter - is a pretty big deal, you have to know what are you doing and how to treat the person. It's very messy, jules fights with gender roles and sexuality and is dating an addict who gives her no emotional satisfaction or validation. It was so easy for her to to her old ways cause what made her feel good with rue does not exist. Rue legit feels nothing anymore and to be honest rue isnt in love she just likes the idea the same way jules leaves in fantasy . Elliot is being messy as well, I don't why though. It was pretty predictable both rue and jules haven't treated each other right, rue by blaming jules for everything around her relapse which wasn't fair also she has gotten very mean whenever jules makes mistakes whereas she expects understanding while jules is flaky with little faith and kissing elliot was wrong.
Yo this show is so good because the characters are flawed!!! Their actions have consequences and us as the viewers will either hate them or love them but the fact that it's a mixed bag is what makes this great!!! Thank you guys for the comments!!!!
I kinda consider Elliot to be a foil to Fez. Both of them are a connection Rue has into a world of drugs in one way or another. While Fez isn’t happy with the life he has in terms of drugs, he tries to make the best of it and is a genuine and polite person. He also cuts off Rue when he doesn’t like what the drugs are doing to her. He’s not afraid of violence however and is willing to fight when words don’t work anymore.
Elliot doesn’t really seem to be content OR unhappy with the life he has, not that we’ve really seen much of it. Elliot does have access to multiple kinds of drugs and is happy to share them with Elliot. While Elliot showed some remorse in episode 4 I feel like that remorse had probably been sitting ever since he found out Rue is an addict. It wasn’t enough to stop him however in between. Elliot is also incredibly manipulative and, whether he’s consciously aware of it or not, gaslights others into following his lifestyle under the guise of appearing philosophical. He also seems to be a coward whose afraid of confrontation, as seen that whenever a fight starts, that he intentionally causes, he runs away.
I just hate everyone but Fez, Ash, Lex, Kat, Ethan(?) and Maddy this season…

Tbh i dont think jules and rue should be together. Here's why-
First jules, she is a free spirit. I dont think she is so into the idea to be tied down to one person/relationship. She likes to experiment. hence, even though she likes rue, she is flirting with other people ( anna, elliot). Her liking to rue is mostly bcz she knows that rue likes her too much and wants to stay for long and she has a soft spot for her. That is why she cannnot leave her that easily. Besides she clearly have more experience with man and if anything she probably favor a somewhat long and invested relationship with man more than a girl to some extent.
As for rue, she is too much tangled with her own stuffs and cant get out of it. She clearly not very kin to the idea of relationship and stuff. The only time she really felt something was for jules. But the thing is that her likings for jules is a second addiction. She is basically using jules/ the relationship as a way for escaping drugs. The moment jules gone she is back to the first addiction as seen in season 1. but in this season her mind is tricking her into finding way to have both of her addiction together. she wants to do drugs and also be with jules and she is doing both by lying. She is so wrapped around her both addiction that she wouldn't even notice any hint of jules cheating on her.
So the main point is that even though they like each other they are just in it for their own motive not for the love itself.

This ain't gonna work till Rue Rue gets clean. I think the relationship drama is distracting from rue's real issue, but at the same time it's just such a disservice to jules' character. yeah she's messy, they all are, but it's clear what she felt for rue was genuine and it's clear she's been traumatized by a lot the past year and her entire life. he really needs to not only let her co-write these episodes but also let other people in the writer's room in general, it's insane that he's solely directing & writing these episodes.

What I love about this show is that they portray everyone as imperfect. They show you a persons good side and their bad side, they don't manipulate you into favoritizing one character by making them holy. That way it's up to you who are you going to like and root for.

jules is toxic. Theres so many examples,-cheating on Rue twice, literally knowing how much Rue cared about her and telling her she was in love with Anna, leaving Rue while she went to New york, knowing Rue was having really bad anxiety, so so so many examples. Jules was born to be in a polyamorous relationship. That's not inherently bad, she doesn't know what commitment is. Either way, if there will be a threesome between Elliot, Jules, and Rue, that's fine. As long as Rue is okay with it if not, obviously it's called cheating. This show hits me very differently now that I'm almost 20, when I started watching, I was actually younger than Rue, and I absolutely idolised her, I was going through a teen phase of drinking and smoking 🍁 🚬, I was the Rue of my friend group, which I was sort of proud of at the time. Now I look at her and I can't relate to her at all.
I don't like or dislike any of the characters now, seeing that they're younger than me now, I actually have an easier time understanding how vulnerable they actually are, at that age you think you're invicible, and that you're done growing up, that is the you forever, but things change so quickly between 16-19 and suddenly you find yourself actually thinking like an adult.

This shows gone to complete shit, I haven’t liked any of the characters in so long and everyone is so hateable and toxic and it’s just like why did they make it go this direction. Like I understand that Rue and Jules fighting is only natural since they both have many toxic traits and they aren’t good for each other but my brain is fried from all the different dynamics and I’m just trying to figure out like where this show is going. Like is Rue gonna be sold into drug trafficking or be forced to work as a prostitute for Laurie and that’s how her character ends? Is Jules just gonna revert back fully to how she was before and just continue finding Male Validation from people? Like it’s like everything is just going backwards and I’m on edge with like how everything is going. I just don’t understand what they’re gonna do with these characters unless they just like do a ton of fuckery with the plot and change it.
Honestly, as someone who dated problematic people most of the time, I'd fall for Elliot too (I mean he is still kinda problematic, but at least he seems to have no problems connecting with his emotions). And also good for Jules. I love Rue with all my heart as a character, but she is in no good place to love anyone right now, let's be real.

I just think that it’s funny how nate is so awful and abusive and people still think he’s hot and ship him with maddy, while jules starts being imperfect and makes mistakes and people are ready to hate her for it. IRL trans teens are more likely to exhibit risky behaviors because of a lack of support and identity issues, and jules has been struggling for a long time. I hate the direction her character has gone in, it seems like the writers don’t really know what to do with her anymore, but I also think she needs help just like rue does.

In jules case it's not. In a polyamorous relationship all parties involved have a mutual understanding. Rue doesn't even know Jules kissed Elliot behind her back. It's cheating
I think people tend to be harder on Jules because she's not an addict like Rue, so Rue is allowed to do so mamy things that other characters would be slammed for. Although Jules isn't an addict, she also has lots of mental issues and can act erratically, it is true that they are not good for eachother, but we can't discount everything rue does and then blame Jiles for everything she does when she's fragile in her own way.
As for Elliott, he's probably a little less addicted than Rue, but addicted nonetheless and when given the chance it's hard for him to resist.
All I'm trying to say is, yes they make shitty decisions, but it isn't always about "poor Rue", because the show is about addiction, but it's also about so mamy other problems that affect various lives, and it's easy to be more gentle on someone who has an external problem like drugs, but what about the internal ones that every character has?
