    Can we proof directly by putting x=A in det(A-xI) because we have to check whether A satisfies the equation det(A-xI)=0.So on putting x=A,det(A-A)=det(Null matrix)=0?

      Here x is a real number and A is a matrix so we can't take x=A as matrix is not a real number it is just a collection of numbers
