For £7.64 I call it very good value. Being class AB it will not give the output of class D from 12 volts, but it will take 18 volts to advantage. Could be a fake TDA7266 making it sound rough.
I wish amplifier manufacturers would quote useful specs. That 10% distortion is only when it's on the verge of clipping. The datasheet for the TDA7266 states a typical distortion figure of 0.03% THD @1kHz at 2W which will be totally inaudible, although it is possible that some idiot hasn't followed the recommended schematic and/or physical layout for the rest of the associated components which could affect this badly. The same useless specs are often quoted for more expensive kit too. My Denon AVR is officially specced at 0.8% THD @1kHz at 120W, but actually measures as low as 0.003% (yes, that is two zeros after the decimal point) THD @1kHz at normal listening levels. Even Denon themselves make no attempt to inform the public about this for some bizarre reason.
Thank you for this interesting comparism. My opinion is, that the cheap amp does a good job for it's price. Sure, there are differences, the cheap one provides sharper hights, but hey, don't forget the price. If it doesn't kill the speakers, why not? If you have a budget of 7 pounds, it's a good value for your money.
I got one too. I was actually impressed. I ran my iPhone through a temu tube pre amp kit that I built to it. From there my speakers were 8 ohm bookshelf speakers. The sound was pretty good, the tubes must have helped some how.
I'm watching this video with this amplifier. I've had it a couple of years. I think one of the channels has the polarity reversed causing that odd phasing effect in the centre.
F4558 will just be another manufacturer of the 4558 Dual General-Purpose Operational Amplifier. Texas Instruments manufacture it as the RC4558. I have seen it a lot in budget mixers.
Honestly, if one did not have the SMNL HA1 as a sound comparison, that cheap amp sounded pretty impressive to my ears for the price despite its quirks at much louder volumes when it would go into protection mode, etc. As a little desk amp for close field listening, it would probably be perfectly fine, especially for anyone starting out in hi-fi, but, I do love my Fosi Audio amps, Douk Audio amps, and my higher-end amps and receivers, so a novice would be much better off buying a Fosi Audio amp or even checking out thrift stores for affordable vintage 70s, 80s, or 90s receivers or amplifiers.
I can relate to this video. In 2018 I used an item very similar to that with my echo dot. Only because back then the speakers were extremely poor and tinny on them, I wanted a bit more oomph. Lvpin was the brand and it cost about £12 (no power adapter either) but I already had one. I tested it out with a pair of Samsung surround speakers I had spare and it sounded just about ok. Tone controls worked fine but once you crank the volume up all you'd experience was distortion. I didn't have the faint hum that a lot of people at the time mentioned though, weirdly enough. I wholly agree with the sentiment of save a bit longer and get something better.
I got the one with the USB socket and FM radio for £11 I think off eBay. I wanted it for a specific use and specifically to read off the USB port and sound quality wasn't an issue for my use. However, on testing it, I was amazed at how good the FM radio was for signal strength. I think for £11, it's astonishing value. If you literally have no money, you can get some charity shop speakers for next to nothing and this for £11. Yes you can and should by some like a fosi but even at £60 that's five times the cost. If £20 is all you have, you'll get something that plays your music to enough sonic ability that's great for the outlay. Basically if I was down to my last £20 I'd definitely get this and be happy I did. It sounds way way better than my old hihi box system I had as a teenager 1980s (Hitachi from memory)
@UTILITARIANTVUK what you can get for the price of a coffee these days is mind blowing. I think you should do a battle of the budget amps and see what's the cheapest thing that's decent you can get. I run the SMSL DA1 mini power amplifier in my desktop. I think you can get that for £35 with power supply. Is there anything cheaper than that (established brand) that's out there
lol..and why not? Here’s one for decent RCA if your skint, they will surprise you for the money, the Juicebitz Pro RCA (silver) (£16, 2m) put it this way I use them in a pair of reference monitors with no issues at all!
Well, you’re braver than I am! I wouldn’t have the cojones to hook that up to a pair of speakers that I cared about 😂 and I’d be worried about it catching on fire…. And Burning Down the House.(🎶 Talking Heads)😉
I dont hear a difference at RUclips. It are my ears....for sure. But out of my own experiences I know all these cheap amps sounds ok, compared for the money....I suggest that people could buy them, they can use it for computers, small audio, it works, it sounds!!
I think it's really impressive, for what it is. OK it lacks body and low end and surely is bright, but my expectations were very, very low. I expect it to be worse in the midrange and the highs department, with different music, like classical or rock-hard rock, but heck for 7 squid, this is plenty good. Built quality wise, its something a student would put together and of course it won't last. Overall however, you're right. Save some money and buy something better built and at least decently sounding.
Now let's be honest here: For less than a tenner, you can't go wrong. If that's all you can spend on an amp - well go ahead and buy it. As you've shown, it gets the job done and even doesn't sound terrible. If you have so little money, chances are your speakers aren't great either, so what difference would it make? I'd say yes, if under 10 is what you can spend: BUY IT.
Yeah, their "desert Nazi scarves" are so pathetic since those weak-minded students have chosen to be on the wrong side of history thanks to Leftist media brainwashing.
Now this Temu site keeps poping up to me lately, so you've just inspired me to get some RCA cables for 10 quid. If it is a fake website and they just steal the money from my bank account, you owe me a homemade burger from scratch. Otherwise I might even order a coffee machine with built in speakers. I also wonder how your new 7 quid amp drives the Lintons. They would be quite a good match, especially in terms of their size...
They're not fake mate, my son buys piles and piles of shit off there, he reckons that its that cheap it doesn't matter if the odd item doesn't fit or doesn't work, I cant bring myself to go on there 😂

Brave man. I was too scared to buy a £20 Lepai/Lepy amp off Amazon.

This camera microphone comparison is so funny.

I've bought all my Christmas presents this year from temu happy Christmas kids as poundland closed down 😅
😂
Try the TPA3116D2 amps out there
But there are no vocals, so I can't really tell sound difference on a tablet device. Nice to see the cheap stuff inside.
Can find these devices in Italy in Chinese shop

Those old all in one systems form the 80s were awful, Amstrad being the worst offender!

Bloody Nora Marti that’s well cheap , the plate is bolted to the case to help with cooling . Regards mark

It was cost as much just for the casework, then you get the sockets, circuit board, and pots for free!. Might be good to mod, and learn stuff from .
EGolden!
Students are too busy ironing their keffiyeh now to listen to music 🥊🥊🥊 not bad for 7 pounds

@@paulefc1971 Thanks. It sounds like a useful warning. 🙂
