  • Looking to improve your snowboarding skills and take them to the next level? The season is already over halfway done, but don't worry, you still have time to make the most of it! Join my summer camp and I will personally coach you to help you achieve your goals. It's an awesome opportunity to learn and have fun at the same time. Shoot me a DM for more info! Looking for gear? Check out my shop :)
In the meantime, here's a fun layback trick that you can do almost anywhere. However, if you have any knee or shoulder issues, it's best to skip this one or proceed with caution. Safety first! Once you've mastered it, feel free to film yourself and tag me. I'd love to see how my students are doing.
Here's how to do the trick:
    1. Find a slope with a decent pitch. If the slope is too gentle, you won't be able to build up enough speed due to the resistance created by your upper body.
    2. Start by picking up some speed with your nose pointed down the fall line. To initiate the trick, lower your belly button with a flexion of both knees.
    3. As you approach the ground, reach both hands toward the ground. The key is to shift your board forward by shimmying your legs in front of your center of mass. This makes reaching the ground less scary and faster because you just reach straight down rather than far back.
    4. Keep shifting your board forward until both hands support a decent amount of your body weight. Your backhand will be handling most of the pressure. Use both hands to help balance and control your direction.
    5. Keep your core tight and your board pointed down the hill. Hold this position for as long as you have speed, or until you decide to get up.
    6. To stand up, pull your hands closer to your tail and shift your board under your center of mass. If your board is under your center of mass, standing up will be much easier.
Do you have any creative variations of this trick? Let me know! And don't forget to save and share this post if you found it helpful.
Remember, safety is key, so make sure you only attempt tricks that you are comfortable with and that won't cause any harm to yourself or others. Happy shredding!

Sir my board is a 7/10 flex 😐

Doesn't matter. My friends ride Golden Orcas and do this. I do these under the signs of the runs. It forces you to get low as possible.

@Taylor Mallory btw, board flex is always going to vary between brands. LibTech's claim of 7/10 is not necessarily going to be exactly the same as say Ride claiming 7/10. Also the profile of your board can make it feel stiffer/softer in certain sections. It's relative to the brand, there's no industry standard. I have worked as a tech in the industry for over 5 years now.

I’ve got an Arbor and it’s 7/10, but doing presses is harder to initiate, but once I’m in the proper position it’s chillin.

@@BigCherries camber boards are slightly more effort to get into a press. Except you can pop out of them easier.
