    The Illinois Central Railroad, which is also referred to as the Main Line of Mid-America, ran in the central United States from Chicago to New Orleans along with many other branch lines.
    The Illinois Central became a part of the Canadian National Railway in 1998. A time when many class one's were finding merging partners.
    In this production Marshall Beecher along with William Beecher Junior, Mike Savona and Chris Laskowski, capture the IC's black beauties hauling freight along the IC system and beyond.
    Marshall captures the Illinois Central before and after the CN merger in the mid to late 1990's on its main line from Chicago to Humboldt, Illinois.
    William, Mike and Chris join Marshall following the Illinois Central in several other areas. Included is a portion of IC's Iowa Division from Galena, Illinois to Raymond, Iowa. Then we finish the show watching post CN merger trains on former Wisconsin Central and Green Bay & Western lines led with IC locomotives.
    This show features many of the Illinois Central's locomotive power that was persistent on its main line trains. Locomotive models shown include E-9's, SD-20's, SD-40's, SD-40 dash 2's, SD-70's, GP-38 dash 2's and GP-40R's. Along with the IC, other road power is shown including Amtrak, Conrail, Chicago and North Western and Burlington Northern. IC's former electric commuter trains, now operated by Metra are also featured.
    From the bustling city of Chicago to the farm fields of the upper Midwest, you will enjoy seeing this fallen flag hauling fast freight on the Main Line of Mid-America!
    Running time 119 minutes
    4:3 Full Screen, narration on/off feature, stereo sound

      It is amazing that the little switchers are going away. I thought they would stick around for a lot longer.

    I grew up near the IC’s Madison Branch in Wisconsin. Too bad nobody thought to record any rail action there.

    This is what I grew up with. I grew up in Bourbonnais near the Kankakee station. I'd go out and watch the IC/CN trains all the time. I sadly wasn't in the area until 1999 and so don't remember any original IC, but there was plenty of leave.

      +SantaFebuff Nice! CN runs 4 of these on the ex Bessemer Sub! They also run in solid sets quite a bit pulling iron ore trains! It is quite a scene! In fact, I just caught a 2 unit power move on the Bessemer with both of the locomotives being IC deathstars (SD70s)

    IC became a part of the Canadian National Railway in 1998, but it wasn't completely absorbed out of existence until July 1999.

    Whoa, whoa! Hold the phone! Did I just hear a k5lla on that locomotive in 1:52? The k5lla was first started production in 2004 and this video was shot in the 90s?!?!

    • @residentevil742
      @residentevil742 8 лет назад

      Judging by the shape definitely not a K5LLA but more likely a New Cast Nathan P5 that had a few issues.

    • @elvin.castro
      @elvin.castro 7 лет назад

      That was a Fouled P5a BUT the IC did have some K5la's on their Older "Geep" units sometimes.
