Much needed video. Thanks for making a wonderful and Informative video. You rightly said that you have to be optimistic because all these parameters can judge their work and knowledge but not nature.
Being a student of Visva bharati university I can say infrastructure is not as great like premium institutes of India still his group is performing well . Apart from PI as a human sir is also really supportive and cool.
I wish this video had come 3-4 years ago, I watch your videos since very beginning of this RUclips Era, yours was the most useful channel during my preparation. Except this, a supervisor is the only person who leads the path of your research as well as your future in research, if he/she is not helpful enough or say has any other issue, it becomes a wastage of time. You discussed here very well as always.
@@gatechemistry yes, mostly it depends upon the timely guidance. We often try very hard to get into a good institute for Ph.D but I have seen many people with very normal state universities and trust me they are doing really well as they had very good guidance of very good supervisors. So, yes it is about the timely guidance whether it be admission time or choosing a topic or a supervisor. Keep posting valuable content. All the very best.
@@gatechemistry yes sir.. All the videos you make related to research... Help a lot to me... I am second yr undergraduate student doing chemistry hons... After watching your videos all my doubts get cleared... 😇🙏🏻🙏🏻thanks a lot sir
Please make another covering the most important (and the most difficult!!) factor to investigate before choosing a PhD supervisor... Beneath these metrics (the visible factors) how can the PhD student judge the authenticity and Integrity of the supervisor??... Many supervisors in India, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 universities (and unfortunately a small number in tier-1 universities too!!) get most of their publications through widely prevalent practices... Gift Authorship (getting their publications by engaging in quid pro quo and 'free-loading')... Ghost-writing (paying for publications) and other sophisticated methods of cheating to avoid getting caught!!
Hi Satish! Glad you're aware of such practices. There are methods through which one can uncover these things but that requires lot of digging in, which I feel would be beyond the scope of early stage researchers. However, I will try my best to come up with something useful in this regard.
Choosing supervisor is very crucial task of phd , my 6 months and career of phd is almost finished because of bullshit guide...so pls choose guide very carefully... thanks for clear explanation to students, it will definitely help...
Thank you, for this worthy video, Sir. I just want to know about the citation. Sometimes some articles published in higher I.F journals and get less cited or vice versa. Then how to make conclusions about those works?
It's a good question, however, that is something that involves an analysis of a lot of variables and would be difficult to summarize in a generic sense.
Sir can you tell me how you search google scholar profile from latest paper. When I search I found those professor most cited psper ,but which was not recent , i want to find these type of search , recent paper
Thank you so much sir for guiding us. Sir one request, I have been following you since my graduation and now I am preparing for csir jrf. I am from biology field. So could you please help and guide students who are from lifesciences ? I had chemistry in my graduation along with botany so I used to watch all your classes so I have always benefited from your channel
@@gatechemistry sir I did msc botany. So what are some labs in India where plant biology is currently under consideration for research. And scopes for msc botany students. In general little bit of a guidance with respect to our field. Although i do my own survey but due to lack of any coach maybe I miss onto relevant informations. Thank you

What shall a candidate should do if he/she don't have a publication in master but want to do PhD abroad
If you have research experience then it is sufficient. Publication is not mandatory.
Sir, you have forgotten IACS (WB) 🥲🥲.
There would be many others, I just gave an example of few.
