  • We tend to think of the Apostles in glowing terms. But they were sinners just as we are, relying on their Lord for the grace needed to persevere in faith. In this sermon, R.C. Sproul continues his exposition of Luke’s gospel to teach on the true character of Christ’s Apostles.

This is often a topic I’ve thought a lot about in my own mind. As someone who came to Christ as an adult, I see how people speak about the flaws and weaknesses of the Apostles. Giving them nicknames like Doubting. But I never agreed with that analysis from reading scripture on my own. All I see is weak humans making mistakes, just like us. Thank you Sproul for another great teaching. What’s Jesus like up there? ♥️🙏🏽

"The Twelve Apostles: Flawed Yet Faithful"
Flawed for sure...kind Sir. Not sure about the "Faithful" on all of them.
    Luke 6:12-16
12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. 13 And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles; 14 Simon, (who he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew*, 15 Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes, 16 And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.
Yes Jesus did. However, and sadly; 4 of them "Denied Him, Betrayed Him and two Doubted Him!". IE: Peter, Judas, Phillip and Thomas. How sad! Not John, bless him. But sadly, Mathew wrote a lie In 1:1 Where Jesus chastised him for the lie in...
John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
    (and)
Mathew 22:41-45. Please read the verses. But that is not all: James argued with Paul over Faith and "Works". Of course James was dead WRONG. But sadly, MOST Christians believe it; and some of them" root" their denominations around James'; and Hebrew's thesis'. Sad indeed.
Worse: There is NO credible evidence of who wrote Hebrews; that called Jesus a LIAR...in 6:4-6 and 10:26; even though Jesus rebutted those lies in "Mark 3:28-29". Only a blind fool can not see that; if they read the verses with an open mind; and they are Born Again!
There is much more; but it suffices enough; to learn the truth about most of those 12 "disciples". Thankfully; Jesus replaced Judas (regardless of what Peter did with "Mathias") with a man; that became the greatest "messenger" of the "Gospel of Jesus" ever! AKA: Paul. Who wrote 13 books in the NT (or 14, IF he wrote Hebrews; as many say. But many bible scholars say "NO!". I don't believe it either). Oh well...
...In any case kind Sir and Brethren, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!
    * What ever happened to the other disciples like Bartholomew? Huh? Does any one know?

God chose an ineffective way of communicating his holy words to his chosen people
by using the written words of sinners
    in a foreign language
    with multi choice meanings
instead of communicating his exact words through telepathy.

“Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.”
      ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:20-21, 25, 27-29‬ ‭ESV‬‬
