By don't cooperate I mean even when spoken to in their native language the whole class is disrupted because 1-2 students act up and at times causes others to do the same. Tks
Greetings I teach esl in a very prestigious french school in west Africa. My classes are very large. The bad thing is that those kids are very wealthy and not at all used to taking commands from anyone. Thus comes my challenge. I had few disruptive students in each class. My advice is that you are in charge of your class not the students or the family. So from day one be very firm and lay out your rules. I use the remedial methods. When students don’t want to follow directions or throw fits, i put them aside. They have to sit and watch the other students having fun. My classes are always fun since my students are very young. Dont think they are not learning when they are put aside. I still ask them questions. Amazingly they lear more while put aside because they are not busy throwing fits or hitting other students. And yes they will try to come back but don’t let them. Students have to know to not break the rules. Once they know you are firm they won’t try you. All i have to say now is do you want to sit on your chair and they behave. My worst students are now my besties. And of course i always give the class a little playtime every half hour to release their energy and be able to focus more.
