It'd be really interesting to see a comparison of the 3 and 6lb cannon from the revolution, vs. the 12lb Napoleonic gun, just to see the difference in damage.
If they used the largest cannon ever designed aka the gustav gun. Not even the best newest tank would survive a direct hit. It shoots a 7 ton shell up to 25 miles. Thats like shooting a personel carrier at 2500 fps lol
I would also love to see one of these cannons vs a tank... But given the fact that it just blew through the engine block, transmission, and the rest of the car, and still left a crater in the bank behind the car, it *might* not be bouncing off.
Yeah man, There is a lot of energy behind these things! They were designed to fight ironclads or warships of the day and they are exactly what they sound like! :)
The amount of sheer force for a round, non pointed round to punch through a solid, engine block and the transmission and literally make a straight line through the car, out the back and embed itself into the hell or bounce off is insane! Much respect to any soldier from the 1860s who had to walk right into that. Especially if its shooting grape shot.
12lb guns were the land standard from the 18th century until the mid 19th century when rifled guns were becoming common place. Flying at about 1200 FPS, they had a nasty tendency to blow men to bits in those nicely organized Napoleonic infantry columns. Nothing like wipping off bits of your comrades from the side of your Shako.
If anyone is curious, with a standard charge, that cannon has 525908 joules of muzzle energy. That's almost 390,000 foot pounds. To put it in perspective a 1600fps 1oz deer slug has about 2740ftlbs of energy or about 3800 joules.
I have watched probably hundreds of RUclips videos over the past month and this one takes the cake. You've got a 12 pounder, high speed video and a Saturn getting trashed. Impressive video, thanks!
I wold like to see what happens when a running truck comes toward a tank at high speed and the tank shoots it with an explosive round. Up vote if you too want to see this!
+TheKingKung the engine was first busted off the motor mounts, and then broken apart. I am CERTAIN the engine will stall, after being struck with that type of impact.
Artillery? Rockets? Cannons are obsolete. They have poor reloading speeds, they're big, slow, they are inaccurate, they have a ball which isn't armour piercing or exploding when it hits. Well, unless you count quicklime and other shots used in the later eras. excluding massive bullets. (20mm+) Some count 12.7's as cannons... I don't.
That far exceeded my expectations, penetrating the car from front to back without a problem. The slow motion was awesome to watch warp the windows before shattering them. Excellent video
just the truth ratedRR umm i think im addicted to watching your videos because i just checked the clock... and its beeen 3 hours and here i just got forza 5 for xb1 and im still watching these videos :D liked! subbed! :DDDDD
I love the way the windshield ripples without shattering in the front shot on the Saturn. If you're looking for ideas for things to shoot, I would love to see some ballistic rated materials put to the test. I have shot level 4 ballistic glass with a '30-06 (it passed), but samples of things like that are hard to come by. It would be interesting to see in slo-mo how a piece of glass/polycarbonate goes from flat to parabolic without getting a hole in it.
I was amazed at the power of the cannon and the fact that the ball didn't deflect...truly awesome...I wonder if this exact test has been done with a cannon firing a modern projectile?
That pumpkin that got hit with the cannonball looked like it was vomiting its insides our of its frickin eyes. That shot is now my favorite slow-motion clip ever.
Great shooting. You've got your cannon dialed in. Man, that ball has some incredible penetration. I really thought the engine would stop it. I wanted you to dig it out of the berm to see how deep it went.
The terminal ballistics between a cannon and a small arms projectile are completely different. I could be wrong but I will assume that cannon round can penetrate your typical transparent armor due to the size and power behind it. Ballistic glass is designed for projectiles with a narrow point of impact whereas a cannon round of that size would have too much energy for it to dump effectively. Te best way to find out is to see if this guy can get his hands on a panel or two and fire away.
If you stop at 1:51 you can see that right before it all blows out of the cannon there is a purple color to the reaction. Good old potassium nitrate from the black powder! (purpler color comes from potassium in a reaction)
@@andrewwilson1975 you know what he meant, of course he meant some very primitive old cannon. Fyu there were no cannons 1000 years ago. Read books browse net the first cannon as such emerged 800 years ago.
slow motion really is the best it was so cool when you saw him pulling the canon string and the ball canon ball was moving whiles they were still like frozen in position I was like this is what it looks like to be flash
aso123321 copied this videoa and put it out as his own. I suggest you report him / the video for stealing your identity. He cut out the intro to make it less suspicious I believe... I love your videos man, don't take me for someone who goes on about so serious stuff. Keep up the good work!
I love how the ball of terror is coming out of those flames
I love the sound-waves that precede it!
It'd be really interesting to see a comparison of the 3 and 6lb cannon from the revolution, vs. the 12lb Napoleonic gun, just to see the difference in damage.
What i really want to see is the biggest cannon hitting a tank and bouncing of in slow motion
If they used the largest cannon ever designed aka the gustav gun. Not even the best newest tank would survive a direct hit. It shoots a 7 ton shell up to 25 miles. Thats like shooting a personel carrier at 2500 fps lol
nerv braberyfuzz What i meant was a classical 1800s cannon hitting a tank, not a super impractical weapon
I would also love to see one of these cannons vs a tank... But given the fact that it just blew through the engine block, transmission, and the rest of the car, and still left a crater in the bank behind the car, it *might* not be bouncing off.
Ben Jamin Yeah it would probably disintegrate lol
Yeah an they Can totally afford a tank
That was cool as hell. The slow motion shot as the cannon ball goes through pumpkin and the hole through the length of the car were my favorite parts.
Friend-"Dude I can't find my keys"
Me, Don't worry I have a cannon
Didn't realise they were that powerful. Wow!
Yeah man, There is a lot of energy behind these things! They were designed to fight ironclads or warships of the day and they are exactly what they sound like! :)
Just imagine it bouncing off an American warship of the day.
@@GrOuNdZeRo7777 This tiny cannon was not designed to fight ships lmao. They used much larger cannons for that.
Try the canon on a tank
What you want him to take a picture of the tank?
+MrTntsupreme good one lol
+Paul Peter Llido Heh.
Why not.
that will be crazy!

"I see!!....thats your problem. You are only firing on one cylinder"

Note to self:
Don't attack an artillery battery in a Saturn.
the combination of music and action is sick!!!!! love the videos.
That was some pretty heavy firepower for the Civil war.

well shit, I wonder what would happen if you fired it at a human
1:23 thats like when i have homework. my head explodes.
I have watched probably hundreds of RUclips videos over the past month and this one takes the cake. You've got a 12 pounder, high speed video and a Saturn getting trashed. Impressive video, thanks!
My Dreams are coming true...
3:48 I love the flash just as the ball hits the door, beautiful.
HOLY SHIT IF YOU LOOK 3:29 YOU CAN SEE THE WAVES MOVE DOWN LEFT
SSSniperwolf_YT Yeah so get #RECT FAGGOT
I was about to say that
+PicosABeast woah, how u notice that?
+Hashirama Senju Idk I was just watching it and I'm just like Wait a minute :O
+PicosABeast Not a sound wave, will be a pressure wave (air being compacted and pushed away). also known as a shock wave
This has to be the best channel on yt
I'm still waiting for you to get a Flak 88 cannon.
I love that at 3:30 you can actually see the sound waves traveling from the cannon all the way to the trees! So cool!
I wold like to see what happens when a running truck comes toward a tank at high speed and the tank shoots it with an explosive round. Up vote if you too want to see this!
You on the driver seat lol
this is still some of the best footage ever from Richard. I want to see more cannons.
But what if car NOT KILL...? to be continued
+TheKingKung the engine was first busted off the motor mounts, and then broken apart. I am CERTAIN the engine will stall, after being struck with that type of impact.
+TheKingKung But what if car was NOT KILL
What if!
FullMag Love the video! Got right to the point and started blastin'! Keep up the good work!
You should get a hold of Big Bertha and shoot a car with that.
Jesus..
More like a tank
Do you know how big a bertha is?
PvP brought me here. Definitely subscribing. Good stuff RR!
I wanna do that to my moms saturn :P
Wtf
I just found this channel... You sir, have earned my subscription!
shoot a mountain with a rocket lancher
You sir have earned my subscription!
Why the hell aren't cannons still used? Imagine how much more powerful and destructive they could be made with the knowledge we have today...
Tanks? Mortars? They are still being used if you think about it.
Artillery?
I don't.
first the tanks rockets ..... second it takes a shitload of time to reaload
Anti Tank guns are the modern equivalent to a cannon. Just look up 'Anti-Tank Gun' in Google Images to see what I mean.
Why do you think they're called 20mm, 25mm, 30mm cannon shells?
That far exceeded my expectations, penetrating the car from front to back without a problem. The slow motion was awesome to watch warp the windows before shattering them. Excellent video
go through the wheels next time lol
Some of the best slow-mo video I have ever seen!
We should reincorporate the 12mm Cannon into the modern military. Modified, of course.
Make the clusters have clusters.
***** I have an idea.
500 Davy Crokkets(smallest nukes in the world) per second.
***** Wait...how do we shoot that with a single cannon?
Also, how do you shoot a nuke with a fucking cannon?
I BREAK THE RULES.
zxeroxz11
they shot nukes with cannon back inthe 50s ---it is not practical as the explosion and wind blows the radioactive particles back on ur head
joseph Kevnu mmm...
Then just air drop a tsar bomb,xD
That slow mo can literally see the shock wave motion.! Wicked!
This was one of the coolest videos I have seen in a long time. Try grape shot next!
YES! slow motion canon stuff = subscribed. congrats, your a valued part of humanity :-)
I always enjoy coming back to this one. It's one of THE best VS videos on RUclips, Plus, you hit what you're aiming at, with effect.
dude!!!! im so glad i found this channel!
seeing the ball emerge from the cloud of smoke and fire was awesome....utterly awesome!!
BEST CHANNEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just the truth ratedRR umm i think im addicted to watching your videos because i just checked the clock... and its beeen 3 hours and here i just got forza 5 for xb1 and im still watching these videos :D liked! subbed! :DDDDD
great slowmo vid! and also great accuracy with that cannon.
Holy cow! Can't believe it actually made it through the engine block! Let alone the whole car! Awesome
brings back memories of my old '94 sl1. still miss that car
The pumpkin innards spraying out of the eye and mouth holes in the slow-mo might be the funniest thing I seen in a long while.
Congrats you have earned a subscriber.
What an amazing video great shot right through the motor block and out the back well done guys two thumbs up
This is f... awesome man, thats the FIREPOWER !!!!!!!!!
2:03 best wallpaper ever
shooting a cannon through a car hell yeah subscribed that was awesome and love the slo mo
this is probably the coolest one i've seen so far!
When the cannon fired it looked like every action when something exploded and the cannonball was the person who was running from the explosion
That's some handy shooting with that old cannon. Well done.
More videos definitely needed with the cannon.
I love the way the windshield ripples without shattering in the front shot on the Saturn.

2:10 SHOCK WAVE on wind shield !! Amazing
I like how the cannon flies out of the explosion. Looks really amazing
in the front out the back... thats amazing..
Always love It when you see that wall of hot air!!
Its awesome how such a small ball comes out of a big fire blast
1:25 looks awesome!!
1:56 such a gorgeous shot...
hell yeaaaaa rardrr is the SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIItT BEST VIDEOS
My dad has a Nissan Juke SL and this video gives me SO many ideas...
The first shot on the snider blocks I came in like a wreaking ball!!!
I was amazed at the power of the cannon and the fact that the ball didn't deflect...truly awesome...I wonder if this exact test has been done with a cannon firing a modern projectile?
this guy deserves atleast a million subs
Aw, I was really hoping that you would've shot it from the side toward an axil of the car.
but a seriously kickass video, Ryan!
That pumpkin that got hit with the cannonball looked like it was vomiting its insides our of its frickin eyes.
That shot is now my favorite slow-motion clip ever.
Did not expect that. Very cool!

This is some of the most amazing video I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its cool seeing the energy transfer through the metal.
I love this channel
Dude that was sick!!!!!! cannon balls sure did some damage...
i only subscribed to this video because it is about assassins creed 3. i played the game, and it feels like you experience it in real life!

3:32 if you look closely you can see sound waves....dope as hell.
really loe the slow motion you ar using now. Some of hose shock waves going through, for instance, thewindshield was awesome
I love the video, great job, I hope you make more awesome videos!
That's the best damn armor piercing Cannonball I've ever seen
If you stop at 1:51 you can see that right before it all blows out of the cannon there is a purple color to the reaction. Good old potassium nitrate from the black powder! (purpler color comes from potassium in a reaction)
holy shit man! THAT WAS AWESOME!!
dang... i never knew those ancient cannons have such power. imagine the cannon ball was actually a pointed shell.
Not quite ancient. They are less than 200 years old. "Ancient" means pre Medieval era, i.e. 1000 years + old.
@@andrewwilson1975 you know what he meant, of course he meant some very primitive old cannon. Fyu there were no cannons 1000 years ago. Read books browse net the first cannon as such emerged 800 years ago.
those blast waves are so sick nasty!
never thought those things were that powerful it went through a whole engine like nothing wasent even a pointy object, very impresive
how i love this shockwave visible in slowmo
its cool that there is a huge explosion then a cannon ball just comes out
That was the best cannon firing on you tube, way better than FPS's stuff
2:01 pause it looks AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
holy shit thats a lot more fire than i would have thought
slow motion really is the best it was so cool when you saw him pulling the canon string and the ball canon ball was moving whiles they were still like frozen in position I was like this is what it looks like to be flash
Watching from Chattanooga 👌🏿
Thats what I call clean cut power.
I love your videos Ryan there dope
