I got the Surfbent for a new JP Freestlye board. I was naive enough to just install it and assume that it would protect the nose of my board. After 2 days of windsurfing and foiling I already damaged the nose of the brand new board! I am very disappointed with the Surfbent! Turns out that my standard "hourglass"-type mast foot got bent backwards extremely (kind of like a question mark shape) by the surfbent, allowing the mast to hit the nose of the board. I then read online that they recommend using "tendon"-style mast feet. I bought one of those... same problem... more money wasted. I then read that someone had the same issue and solved it with a mast foot that has a mechanical joint. I got one of those. Now the Surfbent finally did what it was supposed to. However the mechanical joint makes some nasty creaking noises. Also the manufacturer doesn't recommend them, because there is a lot of force acting on them without being dissipated and they can break. Another annoyance is that the Surfbent damages the bottom part of the sail's luff sleeve which gets trapped between the mast foot and the Surfbent. In my case it destroyed the little rubber string that is useful to keep the sail rolled up when you are transporting it. My recommendation: if you do get the Surfbent, make ABSOLUTELY sure on land and in the water that it works with your mast foot. You need to test it before relying on it!! Surfbent provides NO warnings like this with the product and on the website there is some little comment at the end of the FAQ section. This is very disappointing! I will now switch to traditional nose protectors (Unifiber) and a Jez's knob in the mast track for when I go foiling.

Dear Claudio, I have the same experience with the surf bent. It is way too expensive and works only with certain mast foots. In my opinion, it is n absolut ripoff

same issue for me. my tendon mast foot broke and so in the meantime i was using an hourglass type one and didn't realize that the surfbent wouldn't work with that, now my board's in the repair shop.
