Always loved Tom Scott's sound and style. The early albums with Tom Scott playing his vintage Strathon tenor saxophone mouthpiece were always my favorite.

Great sax player and big band. Scott has been around a while and is one of the best. Tomcat and New York Connection are both fabulous albums.

This jam reminds of Herbie Hancock's Chameleon from Headhunters album, Starsky and Hutch was also my favorite T.V. show and still is!!! Tom Scott is a very Brilliant Musician!!!

After re-watching a few episodes of the old Starsky & Hutch, as the series doesn't stand the test of time. The 2 best things about it, were this theme song and the Ford Torino. Those do stand the test of time. Cudos Tom !

The three who put their thumbs down, surely know how to compose music, play better than Tom Scott and jump into a Ford Gran Torino from the windows.

This was the first tune my dad made me learn on Tenor in elementary school. Looks like Tom's back to the Guardala?

Looks like a Guardala profile with something on the shank.

You can see "Gotcha" played by the Master himself.

The original second series TV theme recording session was epic. No version has matched its raw funk and vibe. I dunno what the session players were on that day but it just it slammed together. Tom Scott was playing a lyricon which gave a wonderful analogue synth sound real sax vibes and expression. Rick Marotta on drums , Mike Lang on piano and Denis Budimir and Ray Parker Jnr. on guitars ensured the original TV session from 1977 was epic. It would be amazing if they release that recording from the original masters one day - not just a TV master mono run out.

He must of really stacked his tenor big time on the album. He's playing here in Reno this Sunday. 8/20/23. With the college big band. Tom sounds like he's kind of lost it. I think I'll save my $30 and skip the Real Book band trying to play funky bunny. Even this band was lame. Eventually even the best usually dry up.

Thanks for this info and the link. It's a good tune, a good arrangement and a great rendition.

Wow, I'd like to shout out "Dave!" to the sax section and see what's going to happen.
Seriously now, is the composer Tom Scott? And do know anyone over here the personnel of the original (1977?) "Theme from Starsky and Hutch" (intro and outro version directly from the tv series) recording? Someone once told me it had Steve Gadd at the drums...

I just heard the version used on the show -- lots of synth, and *extremely* Herbie Hancock-like.
