On September 8, 1995, I was at a birthday party picnic in Central Park. We all went for a walk after, and stumbled upon this concert, which was a free surprise concert not widely advertised. I found myself standing 30 ' from stage right, and had a bird's eye view of Annie Lennox as she sang this song. Words cannot express how infinitely magical that moment was, the night air in the park, and her crystal clear voice, the essence of September.

I’ve watched so many videos of covers of this song. Although all those singers a VERY talented, none of them fit this song. These songs are perfectly composed for her unique voice. It’s not about the pitch or the melody it’s truly her voice that is the trademark of her songs.
