Spyro The Dragon was my childhood game.. although for some reason, watching my older sister play Spyro season of ice? On the Gameboy Advance is what I always think back on.
If I ran anything with skill points, it would be Any% with all skill points. I think the routing would be far more interesting and may require me to visit areas I wouldn't have otherwise (whereas a 337% with skill points is just small things added along the way).
Or like a trifecta skill% where each game ends with the last skill point (though I think in all 3 its perfect final boss fights anyway... not sure one the third)
Nah, none of it is stressful in a run like this. I do get anxious near the end of a more optimized run where a PB is on the line. I've been running PS1 Spyro since 2012, so it's really second nature at this point.
This is awesome, buuut...even as someone who doesn't speedrun his games (I don't have the skills, and I'd rather enjoy my interactive experiences for as long as possible), I do see plenty of spots where you or someone else could tighten up the runs - such as not overshooting gem locations or bumping into walls. Still, as I said, this is awesome, especially since the game hasn't been out for long at all.
The same can be said about the original games! That's the beauty of 3-dimensional platformers like this especially, there will always be time to shave off here and there. I have beaten the 117% Spyro 3 run by over 30 minutes and the 120% Spyro 1 run by about 7 minutes. With long runs like this, consistency and stamina are key, and keeping those 2 things high can lead to greatness. Thanks for the input and I hope you enjoyed the video.

So, when the hell is this coming out on PC? I'm not buying an Xbox One, and the PS4's controller has the wrong analog stick layout (I grew up on the SNES, N64, and Saturn, then moved onto the GameCube, so having the left stick down hurts my thumbs). Also, I want to put it on an SSD so loading times are properly snappy...
We’ve made some improvements to the Harbor Speedway route. Me and several others together made a route that can be done in 44 seconds. My record is 45.1. Since you are a more skilled player than me you can probably get sub 46 consistently with the new route.
Thank you so much! My name on speedrun.com is Sun Tzu, and I am currently in 4th place out of 7. I held the lead 5 times for a total of 2 weeks (I never thought I could beat another person at speedrunning before this)
I really enjoy Metro Speedway, Harbor Speedway, and Sheila's Alp in the remaster. Both level designs and themes make me feel much more immersed than they did in the originals, so they stick out for that reason. My favorite levels to play are Colossus and Hurricos because of the neat strategies. My favorite game out of the 3 on PSX is Spyro 2, and it's still Spyro 2 in the remaster. I don't have any favorite music, I don't really pay much attention to it.
I probably won't end up doing that. Skill points add very little value to a 337% run because most skill points are either given to you anyway (speedway times, damageless bosses, hockey score, bailey gang, etc). What would be more interesting for me is doing All Skill Points without the full completion. This would allow a sort of Any% route that visits very unexpected parts of the game. I think it would be more unique that way. I also would like to not ruin the chance of a good 337% time by doing skill points, as that's a larger time investment.
@@jordanjohnston8967 6:59:25 in-game time, 9:37:12 RTA. The 6:59:25 time is what is used to compare this run to other runs of any hardware. An XBOXone with an SSD compared to a standard PS4 HDD would be much faster due to load screens, but IGT is comparable across all platforms. IGT is shown at the end of the video and at the end of each game in this video.
Because timing is in-game, technically no. It's not unreasonable to need a short break between games, but since I have no life I didn't do that. As long as it doesn't completely kill the flow of a run (naps, turning off the game, etc etc) it's not a real issue, and there's surely some unspoken leniency about longer runs like this too.
Usually, speed runners show 2 times, rta and igt, the goals usually to manage to have the lowest in the two times. Rta is real time action(?) and igt is in game time.
As much as I agree, casually it's not as difficult. A speedrunner doesn't simply try to get first place, they want to finish it as fast as possible AND get all the gems. Casually, what I found was that you first have to do a slow run where you simply collect all the gems, then, in order to win, you just find ONE jump near the beginning where it's easy not to get yeeted off stage, use it to max your boost meter, use the meter and repeat next lap. This is useful to both skateboard courses. It's not as a fast as a speedrun, as the meter does run out, but if you only do tricks once per lap in a safe spot, it's much easier not to fall and it's more than enough to get first place on both courses.
Surprisingly, a lot of them do. There are some that don't work though, and some Reignited-only strats too! Plenty of different quirks to work with and keep it exciting :)
@@henrykenyon No worries! RTA includes many things that are not accounted for in IGT. Loads, pause menus, NPC dialogue, etc. Because there is no load remover, IGT is the best comparison we have to see how runs stack up, otherwise you can pay for a PS4 SSD to gain an hour.
@@jordanjohnston8967 Just like Spyro 2 and 3 on PSX, skill points simply don't count towards in-game completion totals. The guidebook finishes with 120%, 100%, and 117% without skill points, dragon shores, or achievements.

I'm not sure what you mean by this question. If you're asking how to get gems to respawn in, what you could do is copy your save file to a USB stick or some online profile, then practice, then copy the file back over from that storage space, practice, copy it back over, etc. I don't know specifics because I've never done it myself, but that method should work. This run was my 2nd full playthrough of the game, and I didn't do any practice outside of full-game runs.
