  • Learn when how why leading power factor, and capacitor affect Power factor correction & Current with a calculation example in Hindi in this video tutorial.
    Power factor over-correction/reduction, leading power factor (PF), and leading electric current due to the capacitor are explained in this video. PF over-correction, total current & capacitor current relation in Hindi video.
    Further, the over-compensation of the Power factor, the relation between capacitor and inductor current with PF and the total current is explained by taking many combinations of inductor current and capacitor current in parallel of resistor load.
    The correct value of the capacitor is required to be connected for getting the minimum line current and best power factor and to avoid overcompensation else, the power factor will become the leading power factor instead of lagging or unity power factor.

    It's very nice explanation and beneficiary to design pfi. But it should be more helpful if you calculate without the resistive load.

    Hello sir. I appreciate your effort and knowledge you share with us. I am electrical engineer working for yatch manufacturing comapny in germany i have one question about isolation transformer. Recently we have develop a new boat name sealine S-330V and we used petrol engine from mercury but our chife engineer used isolation transformer and he told me with use of isolation transformer we can provide better anode protection but i have doubt about that. Please explain me if this is possible or not? And is this logical to use isolation transformer in marine? Because when we connect boat with shore power we cant connect earth to shore connector as in such condition rcb getting trip.

      The flow of currents in metallic parts in boat causes corrosion. When we connect to shore power with isolation transformer to a boat, the ground current loop can be avoided, this will limit the ground loop current in metal parts. So isolation transformer is used. If your RCCB is tri[ppping, perhaps earthing wire connection may not be proper. Or, the ground loop may be created due to water. I do not have the electrical diagram of such a system and also do not have much knowledge about yatch, so whatever little I know, I have shared in this comment.

    Jab aapne pahele total current 10 se Jadha liya tho vo kaise samajle ki vo current LAGG hi horaha hai aur niche bhi same total current hai...aur vo bhi same upper wale jaisa... Aur vo lead... Hai how we identify the lead aur LAGG.... Sab kuch samajh aaya but ye 1 question aaya mind me..... please answer it...

    Sir nice video sir welding machine decrease voltage 220v to 70v current is increase 200 amps at the same time 415v 3phrase also decrease 70v current is increase 400 to 600amp but why not increase 220v to 400amp please explain me

    Sir in practical is it possible to compensate an inductive load completely with a capacitive load to get the power consumption as low as possible or it has some limitations? Please elaborate. Thank you sir.

      Yes it is possible, we have achieve it using continously variable capacitor system. Watch my video on inductor use at high voltage for power factor compensation.

      Lag is better but it should be 0.95 lag upto 0.98 lag... Lead pf can fed current in reverse direction that is towards source and it may causes to increase line losses

    Sir if a circuit has two loads L and C and both are drawing same current then they will cancel each other and the net current of the circuit will be zero. If the current is zero then the power shall also be zero. But both the loads are still there in the circuit and they are drawing some current means they are drawing some power. How it's possible? Please explain thank you.

      They use reactie power not active power, if L and C assumed to be ideal, then reactie power flow in both will be in opposite direction. It is also called that one supply the reactie power and other consume it. Reactie power will circulate in both L & C, and nothing will come from AC under stable condition.

      Capacitor bank calculation for Apfc bank...
      If the current power factor is 0.9 and we have to improve it upto 0.999
      Then take cos inverse of 0.9 and then take tan of that value..that is tan Phi 1...
      But our desired pf or target pf is 0.9999 hence take the cos inverse of 0.999 and then take the tan of that value.. That is tan phi 2...
      Then multiply the kva or apparent power with values of difference between tan phi values which we have calculated earlier...
      Kvar = kva ( tan phi 1 - tan phi 2 )...

    Also if there is a choke of input 440v 2 phase and output 1300 volts with current flow of 7 -10 amps in high voltage side should a capacitor be used to control the PF

    Nice video Sir. But i have one doubt that's you have connected Resistive load together with inductive and capacitive load. Sir suppose if we have only inductive load and it's taking 6 amps and if we connect capacitive load across and capacitive load also taking 6 amps then how much Ampere will show on main Supply ?Please explain.

      As explained in the video, both current will cancel out and net current in main should be zero. ( but currents will be flowing in L & C, circulating current) however, this is only theoretical, as, in the real world, we may not get an ideal capacitor and inductor. There will always be a resistor loss involved.
