Melt-Banana were one of the first noise rock bands I discovered as a teenager in the 2000s. I first saw them at The Space in Hamden, CT in 2009, then again at the same venue two years later. I'm still hoping they'll return to Connecticut someday, but I've caught them in New York several more times (as well as at the Oblivion Access festival in Austin, TX in 2022.) I went to my sixth Melt-Banana show in June of this year (Elsewhere in Brooklyn) and since my brother and his girlfriend live in the city, I decided to bring them along, making it the first time I went with someone. I was afraid of how they'd react but they had a really fun time. Can't wait for the new record!
