Thank you for this. I picked up a unused one at a auction site. I'm pretty sure because it appears to be new old stock the battery will be toast. Being a droner I thought no problem I can fix that. If I do have to get into it for the battery this will help for sure. I was hoping to be able to at least muffle or modify the beeper. But it looks like it's on the still hidden display pcb. I'll search for it if I have to take mine apart. It's quite loud. While I realize why it's there seems like for how expensive these are it could have an option to mute, turn down or use an indicator light in place of the beep if someone wanted.
Nice tear down video! The problem with mine, it looks like the fans not working because it was dropped and the cable for the fan is no longer attached to the motherboard. Any idea how I could connect/stick it back on?
Hello. Did it work after changing the battery? I have the same problem the battery full charged and it’s work normally until the fan works it takes 5 minutes and it’s full charged again
@@faeinthebay Hi I am having similar issues with the replacement battery not holding charge, I guess it is also not compatible, did you manage to find one that works? thanks
@@Ksallam You could always try to use the battery replacement services that you see advertised on websites like eBay. Or if you want to make your own, just find better cells with a really high discharge rating and they should work.
@@faeinthebay Hi Andrew, I read your reply to Nada about purchasing cells that had too low of a discharge rating. Out of curiosity, what was the discharge rating on your batteries? I just want to make sure I purchase something that has a stronger discharge. I had also read that article you mentioned where the voltage regulator fried, and before it fried, they said something interesting... "We expected the device to power up with the power supply set to 3.2V, the nominal voltage listed on the battery pack, but there was no response. Turning it up to 3.4V was also unresponsive. Something inside this device is looking for a very specific power profile before it will activate. This may be one of the safety hoops, but it certainly dims our prospects of getting it up and running on other batteries." That definitely complicates it more if there is a specific power profile.
@@Mr-E. I purchased these batteries: www.ebay.com/itm/113699898077 and the Tria would run out of battery after firing just a few times, which is why I suspected that they aren't made to handle the demand of the laser (or their voltage curve isn't what the charge controller was expecting).
I have an IPL without a battery that stopped flashing the capacitor inside seems fine and it powers on fine wondering what do you think would cause it? It worked intermittently then just stopped
I can only guess, but here are some ideas. It could be a loose component, so check if any of the SMD components are wiggly, especially any MOSFETs and power control ICs that could cook themselves. I've also seen inductor coils get cracked in various electronics, so check them as well. And capacitors can eventually dry out, so maybe it just needs to be replaced with an equal or bigger one. I can provide more detailed help checking those, if you like.
The two cells are taped together into one longer cylinder. You should be able to safely separate them by peeling off the tape that's only in the middle section and separating the spot weld.

My device represents fully charged but after 10 seconds of using it represents run out of battery. No matter how long I plug the charge it can only work for 10 seconds or less. Please help
The battery has probably lost its ability to hold a charge. You either need to replace it yourself or pay someone to replace it for you (third party or Tria).

Thanks for the breakdown steps. Had mine apart in 15 min and got the dead battery out. See what I can find for a replacement.
Does the batteries have any markings indicating what kind they are?

I think it's just the connector you see at 5:25. So you should be able to pop it back in.

The batteries are generic 18650s. I bought some cheap replacements but the Tria didn't like to boot from them.
