The Chemical Brothers were literally the very first group that really made me dive into the music that I'm listening now, there was also Fatboy Slim and The Prodigy that I listened almost every day with The CB when I was a child because I had almost all of their CD's... Everytime I hear a track from theses artists (especially the Chemical Brothers) I have always some nostalgia that comes in, and I remember a different memory for each track, Hold Tight London for example in Galvanize or Surface To Air that are mesmerizing me everytime...
I get that as well, especially with Exit Planet Dust. It's not my favourite CB album, but it takes me right back to those formative, important years. I can almost smell that time of my life when I hear that album. This track doesn't really do that for me, but it has always been there as a solid classic.
Yeah, I never noticed that this was in 6/4 either. The effect is really propulsive, though, because when you subliminally feel like you've got a couple more beats in the bar, you're swung back to the top again.

wow, this has to be one of the most natural sounding time signature changes in pop music history !
It's right up there for sure. Took me forever to notice!

Exactly! It's such a fantastic hook.
Definitely makes the gas pedal heavier.

@@KarlBoltzmann good
That intro always gives me as adrenaline pop. And as a drummer, I think the time changes (instantly picked up on) make the song.
That time change is one of the most seamless transitions I've ever heard.
favorite band
I love this!
Thanks Carrie!
