I wish pop was more like this, I like extreme music, black metal, punk, industrial, Powerviolence, hardcore, death metal....and I adore this artist, the sound is so complex and the artistry is fantastic. She deserves way more attention.

She has such a beautiful mind and heart! She's also really beautiful on the outside! She has such a unique look it just kind of fits with the landscape videos... NO DOUBT THEY ARE MY FAVORITE BAND!

One of her best songs so far. Electornic sound, 80-90 instrumentation, great lyrics and uplifting Tempo. What else can you ask? Ans as usually the clip is a piece of contemporary film art.

I've enjoyed Goth/EBM/Aggro/Experimental-synth/Dark-synth/(etc.) for a long while now, but belonging to an "Underground Subculture" truly means, we get to enjoy music the general public never hears. When I read people's comments saying that they want "iamamiwhoami" to be apart of the pop-culture realm - I become frustrated. Popular-culture would never fully understand "iamamiwhoami" with Jonna as an independent artist. The band is a collective of artists in film, photography, music, performing artist's, experimental audio engineers', etc. Jonna is their official face and voice, but it's not as if she tells everyone what to do and, at least American listener's, wouldn't fully understand the band's methodology.
Realistically, the entire independent community-oriented project behind "iamamiwhoami" wouldn't want to be entirely mainstream, although a good distributor helps. The only example I have is Björk, who wanted to express herself in a completely new way; however, the general public still missed her underlying points. Björk is a one person project, which probably saved her reputation in the mainstream media by being so progressive and having one view. Oh boy, what a point of view she insists upon.... !!!
My point is Jonna is not alone in the decision making and the general public doesn't readily -"Get It". However, independent thinkers, like ourselves, virtually shun all of the old popular-culture tropes, predictable imagery, familiar sounding key strokes I've personally dubbed as "recycled-pop", using the same "formularies" the music industry refers to as "predictors" calculating the financial viability, and then they force their artists to compromise to fit the "predictor's" (that's exactly how they do K-pop). I use to be apart of that multi-media corporate world in Los Angeles, which I hated, but I needed they money to survive.
There is no compromise with "iamamiwhoami", as a Co-op. So, everyone out there in independent mental space: Stay yourselves; Stay strange; Mostly just be unusual; and Never compromise your integrity. Just smile at the outside World, if, they smile back that's great; however, if they don't -- Smile anyway.

I know all songs and videos are conected, but I wonder if at the end of the project (hoping it would never end of course) we'll get an explanation for all this. To me a fundamental key was that video where they portrait a suicidal couple (Jonna in the bathtub with her head covered in a plastic bag). Maybe the story is about after life, after they committed suicide.
Maybe we don't need an answer. Maybe some things are better left open. Maybe draw what you want from the videos. Maybe all magic doesn't need to be destroyed.

From what Jonna have said in interviews I get the feeling that they won't explain the story, even after the this project is all done and over.

Time goes by and after a wonderful album like Kin, is strange to think iamamiwhoami dont get more fans (or at least more views) thank the previous album Kin. Fountain e HFP is so strong, powerful and beautiful but even now the views walks so slow... I thought she would get more views.. =P

I think I'm starting to understand why there is something different about this song and why so many people are saying this is the best iamamiwhoami song yet. To my knowledge its the first studio recording jonna has made as iamamiwhoami that doesn't drown her voice in noise and effects (at least for most of the song). It's almost startling to hear it so high in the mix. In a sense now that she's got everyone's full attention she could be moving towards showcasing her voice more, which was her original goal before she decided to do Iam. These songs feel more and more like Jonna Lee with an electronic backing, rather than her trying to do her "strange" Iam voice. Previously the only time we seem to have gotten this was at the end of rascal.
Hearing her bare voice over the electro synths just makes it clear how above and beyond her vocal talents are compared to her peers (gaga, Karin, goldfrapp, etc). Easily one of the most powerful voices in the game today.
ABCDyeahyeah 4 years later to correct that Goldfrapp has the highest voice of all. She can sing beautiful outworldy opera and yet sing pop style music. That's hard stuff to do.

I have no solid promise that I know what this song is about, but it makes me cry everytime. My own theory and feelings bring me to believe it is about choosing to surrender oneself to death, or a significant end to something, - she sings of someone who wants or desperately needs to start over and they hope they can return to life that’s full of the treasures (meaning, deep insight or clarity, etc.) they have collected and have to offer from the experience. I might be completely off. But I feel like we all at some point possess an innate desire to have purpose and find meaning to life and that’s kind of what I feel this is essentially about.

I swear I've been sooo sick of music videos lately, its all a one up battle against each other. Every artist I watch I don't find intriguing, but when iamamiwhoami drops a new artwork, track and video, I am in the most upmood like my soul and spirit has been rejuvenated from this hell of "music".
