In 2015, the BJP government decided to end the practice of ministers recommending names for Padma awards and replaced it with any Indian citizen recommending a person for Padma awards online. The government said that this was done with the belief that every citizen has something to contribute to the nation and that contribution should be integrated with the country's growth. Accordingly, several hitherto unknown citizens were awarded Padma awards in 2017. The role of the state governments was also minimised.
Shame on the previous govt which left these great people unrecognized and maligning these prestigious awards by conferring them to the bootlickers like Rajdeep, Burkha Dutt , Shekhar Gupta , Ram Guha , Saif Ali and many more other bootlickers.

1st Time I watched full Civil INVESTITURE. This is really great. This gives me hope to believe in my India. or I say new India. It makes me so happy. I don't know the name of most of them. but they are contributing in India truly manner. and they deserve it, I'm happy for them.
All real people who contributed significantly to society are recognized and got this prestigious award, hats off to current administration for recognizing good people.

There are many such people who truely n really deserves padma n many such awards bcz they have done many good social work for our country india. But such people dnt get awards bcz this kind of awards are given only to the rich know people as they are all fixed. The right value of padma award is to remain n the hand of right person hand who I think really deserves it. Esle now every award has no value bcz it is given to well know people only. Just really go out n see our young generation r really working vry hard for society for them no body gives any kind of award or reward its vry shame on our government. Why padma awards to celebs, cricketer.
