    I would rather have Burnes over Fried. Been hearing some chatter that fans want Fried. I think he's injury prone and would rather have the fresh talent.

    @mattunes5823 Месяц назад +3

    I think the 9th and 10th years on Burnes' contract are essentially the equivalent of deffering money. He'll probably be worn out by then but it's the price you pay. Whatever it takes.

    Off-season of Burnes and Bellinger as the main acquisitions, along with a back end BP arm is a pretty good off season, despite losing Soto. Play some of the young guys (Dominguez, Durbin) and assess needs at the deadline.

      @@Platerpus7 Bellinger can play 1st and CF, you can mix in Rice there as well. Second can be a combo of Durbin, Cabrera or another lower cost acquisition.

    Right there with you, Orlando, Burnes and BELLINGER to start, Tanner Scott, and if they have the will to still spend, Santander. Time for Dominguez to step up, and opportunity for Durban. You may not agree, but I hope they don’t trade Jones, and give him one more year to show up.

    • @fernandoposada5440

    I’ve heard the Mets aren’t in on Burnes and the Yankees prefer Fried. The thinking is that Burnes won’t age well because his velocity and strikeouts have dropped the past three years. And i’d assume the Yankees don’t want to deal with Boras again. Fried is very good but his postseason record is atrocious. Personally, i’d take Burnes. I think the notion that Sazaki won’t sign with the Yankees because they’re in flux somewhat at the moment is false. They are coming off a WS appearance, bad though it was and losing their second best player notwithstanding. I think it’s certainly possible that he will. They are still the Yankees, regardless of what happens on or off the field. And Kyle Tucker would definitely be a great pivot but i’d be shocked if the Astros dealt him to the Yankees. It’d be nice but it ain’t happening. Hope i’m wrong. Cashman really needs to earn his keep this year. It’s been mostly downhill since ‘17. And they’re not going to be able to turn this around solely through FA.

  • @billy2069

  • @supraocny
    @supraocny Месяц назад +3

    Nestor, 3.77 ERA over 150+ innings. I think he is worth keeping. If we land Burnes, or Fried (depending on price) for that matter it is worth considering to trade Schmidt, or sell high on Gil, for a bat under contract. Gil's injury history is concerning as mentioned, also agree Burnes should be target #1 for free agents as it opens some flexibility.

      Good not great? No chance.

    • @stanfromwestport2024
      @stanfromwestport2024 Месяц назад

      Let's define good vs. great first...My definition is sub 3.00 ERA versus + 3.00 ERA...More granularly, a picher approaches "great" @, or below 2.50, and fades from "good" above 3.50 approaching 4.00...WHIP, K/BB ratio, HRs allowed, etc. considered and judged accordingly....Good not great for Burnes will prove out...Overall, is Cole good, or great...?? In dispassionate fairness, I would say that Cole has been good, not great, over his Yankees tenure...If Burnes matches Cole statistically over his time w/NYY, he will have proved to be good, not great, just as Cole has over the course of his time in the Bronx. Further proof of Cole being "good" and not "great" is what just happened with his opt out...After a few days "on the market", Cole scurried RIGHT BACK to the NYY, since no other Team in MLB cared above the $$$ figures the NYY contract had in place, and that is AFTER Cole winning a Cy Young as recent as last season 2023...!!
      Cole and Burnes have virtually identical lifetime ERAs...@ 3.18 & 3.19 respectively
      Cole has been good in four of his five NYY seasons and great in one. Cole was great in both his HOU seasons. Burnes has yet to prove how he fares in the obviously "hitters park" Yankee Stadium is...Cole has already proven that he can and has handled the short porches at Yankee Stadium pretty well...We'll see how Burnes fares...IF the NYY do indeed acquire him...???
