IMO Gauntlets are pretty bad because they lack range and knockback. Players who use other weapons can easily outrange and combo you. The damage goes up if you constantly hit your targets but that's not easy when you have such short range. Sure the Warfists are OP but that's because it costs 22 emeralds of course you can get something good with 22 emeralds.

Ye but like with the middle giving so much mid-late game 2 extra emeralds isn't much they're fun and all but I'm still a sword main and the shield was a huge buff
