- My love/hate with the Kaiyodo Figure Complex Amazing Yamaguchi line continues with Carnage. I love the poses you can get, I love the look, but damn is it a pain to get there.

I bought this largely because I've been wanting a dynamic Carnage for the longest time and finally got this, super happy with it.

Would you recommend buying it for the aftermarket price? It looks dope, but I’m worried about loose joints and all that. And the Mafex is extremely expensive

Carnage may think he's gotten the better of Gus, but ole Gus has come back from worse, - he once survived taking the last jelly donut at a wookie office meeting. ...and wookies love jelly donuts.

But he was the closest figure I had on hand that had neck stuff that would hide the revo joint on that spike, haha. I knew he could survive!

Thankfully I skipped Venom, Magneto and Cap, all thanks to Robo's reviews. I have to be choosy, so I'm only getting the characters who I think really excel in this line.

I actually gave up on being a completist for ANY line years ago. If I don't have any major connection to a character, I don't bother with figures now. I like Magneto as a character, but I have very few (like 2) X-Men related character figures, so the Yamguchi Mags just has no place to go. Spidey, Wolverine and Deadpool form a 3 Amigos display, and Carnage can fit in with the Spidey MLs I still have left, or even the Mezco figure. So I'm not really feeling an remorse about passing on him, Cap or Venom.
this is hands down the definitive carnage figure to own. alot of his nitpicks seem more personal taste rather then legit nitpicks. the amount of stuff you get with this guy and the poseablity is superb.
They should do scorpion or dr octopus

revoltech has been making the best looking figs for posing and art inspiration for over ten years, amazing for people with imagination and love for articulation.
this figure is a contender for best figure of 2018 for me. the amount of accessories and the presentation and just amount of things you can do with this guy is just incredible. even just the poses you can pull off and the amount of ways you can pose him with different things attached is just jaw dropping. plus he just photographs so well. I'm not having alot of the issues you are. I'm loving this figure. it's just insane the different things he comes with in box. it's worth every penny. I disagree with most of your gripes. I feel you let your previous experiences with prior figures from this line give you a bias point of view.

Say what you will about the line but what a fantastic figure! Since I first saw Venom and Carnage exist, the character design was incredible and the stories attached I can’t wait to see in the Marvel cinematic universe. Great review Robbo!
Can't wait to get my hands on this figure! Revoltech are my table figures ATM. It's like a Rubiks cube or Beyblade; can't just keep them on a shelf in same pose, have to just mess around with em and do ridiculous poses. lol
I always like weird shiny spiky symbiotes, and I really love the eyes on this particular figure
There’s a hole in the middle of its back for the stand to push into: gets ya even more dynamic poses!

First of all, very nice effort with those photos, Robo. I know how traumatized you were by Venom so it's appreciated to see you handling it again. Regarding the figure itself: I'll be skipping Carnage because I'm just not that into the character, but imo it will end up being in many Top 10 Action Figures of 2018 when all is said and done: the articulation is amazing (I think you may have misunderstood how the hips work or you just have the worst luck with QC issues), the look is spot on (under lighting a little less harsh) and the amount of accesories and possibilites is just insane. While I do prefer both Cap & Venom over him, I ""objectively"" think he might be the best/most versatile release in the line so far.
Even though he isn't dynamic, I'm curious about seeing a AY Joker.

Heh, she doesn't watch, but she'd laugh about that too. We've been married way too long not to joke about it.
not sure if you found out already, but the thigh is capable of doing a sidewards split and crouch. you just need to manipulate the thigh swivel. While the figure is standing straight, move the thigh swivel inwards until the knee points to the other leg, and then move the thigh ball up as much as possible.
Yeah, I figured that out a couple of days later. My problem comes into play with the right thigh swivel being locked up beyond all reason, so it doesn't work on that side, so I missed that. Thanks for the info though, I appreciate it.
I have a bootleg carnage... It seems like my bootleg doesn't have any broken arms... In my opinion, bootleg is also worth to buy

O. M. G. ... This is in the mail right now and I can't wait for it to make it across the Pacific. I feel your pain, but-oh boy-I love me the Revoltech. Ever since picking up their Ultron figure I was hooked. And despite the "Marvel vs Capcom" proportions of the Amazing Yamaguchi line, I can't help but marvel at the pose-ability of these figures. Stay strong, Robo. I thoroughly appreciate your reviews (which always come before I get my figures-you probably upgrade your shipping) as you prep me for the thrill of victory and agony of defeat that is to come.
Oh, and I really hope they fit Archangel into this line. Amazing Yamaguchi-ed wings would be insane.
Yeah, I usually use DHL when I order from Amiami, I'm too impatient, haha. And an Archangel would be INSANE.
Nice review buddy! I took a ball hinge joint out of each weapon and left one in the others so I didn’t have to fight with the wrist ball hinges lol
I accidentally did that with one of the largest blades, didn't even think to leave them that way. I'm stealing that idea, haha!

Great review man,really enjoyed it.
As for the wrist joints, I've found that it's better to remove the joints from the weapons rather than fight with the wrists but I do need pliers for that myself.
I had the same issue with the my left should joint splitting. I just switched it out with one of the replacement joints in the box and it worked fine. You might try that.

I just got Cable, Domino, and Shatterstar, and I reaaaally wanted this the momebt it got announced. Gotta have it!
Mine is on the way and I;m looking forward to it - those tendrils look awesome, but I think it'll have to be built and rebuilt after every pose, or stuff is going to keep dropping off.

Amazing Yamaguchi articulation is like that show floor (boomerang) Playstation 3 controller sony tried to push on the gamers. If it aint broke, dont fix it revoltech. Great Review Robo
I actually used the hell out of a boomerang controller on the ....PS1, I think. I could lay down and rest it on my stomach as I played.
I'm so used to see Carnage with his tendrils and Symbiote sprouts here and there, that his "default" form looks like he's absolutely naked.
I pretty much hate the Revo line, but this looks like so much fun, I gotta give it a shot.
It kinda reminds me of a ultimate Carnegie from the mouth,so this would go good in a ultimates display and the new Carnegie from ml with the 616

My carnage right thigh broke but I just super glued it back
The hips/thighs rotate out the same way that old Revoltech figures do: by swinging the thigh cuts out into the side. It's somewhat similar to the Revoltech Magneto's hips.
Hmm, now that I've messed with it, I can get the left out like that a bit, faking it. But the right swivel is stuck stuck so it doesn't work.

This will go great with the Spiderman an venom however it has some word stuff on it like the weird spikes on his head

Love the figure, hate the shoulder joints [switched them from a double jointed to single jointed medium size one, works still the same in therms of the range of motion but looks 100% better]. As for the hips - i dont know, mine works kinda fine, almost the same way spidey ones work [kinda better even due to the fact carnage have better cut rotation joints]

They went fleshy with the sculpt, but the feet are boots instead of feet, venom had feet with claws
This Carnage looks like it will need a good wash to bring out the sculp. I would use an Agrax Earthshade on it.

I love the articulation improvements. I'm a fan of the revoltech joint but it's not a end-all solution. But egad those hips. How the hell that happen.
The hips do go out use the thigh swivel to get the same thing.
I missed it because the thigh swivel on mine is stuck and I apparently don't know how to demonstrate articulation on the left side.
The Fwoosh just be gentle with it I'm sure it will loosen up where did you order him from if worst comes to worst I hope you can get a replacement??

Hello, i have a question, does anyone know if there exist a knockoff version of carnage yamaguchi?
I still haven't found a good Venom figure, statue or bust and I just don't get why Carnage always looks better in figures then Venom, especially as I only want a Venom.
Hopefully I find something someday.

The Fwoosh I'm not sure what DC characters I would go with for this line? Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, maybe a Nightwing? I'm sure we'll get a Joker... just dont think a Joker figure would benefit from the Yamaguchi treatment.

I skipped the line up until now and will be skipping Batman. No capes! (not a fan of the articulation but couldn't resist this one).
That's a good baseline to keep with this line: No capes. Honestly, I haven't preordered the Batman yet. It scares me but intrigues me at the same time.
Edna Mode knows her stuff. Yeah, I'd love to see it in person but realistically that's only going to happen if I buy it and I can't see myself spending 40mins wrestling with plastic cape pieces so it looks good from one angle. I already have Mezco's cape-wire-ma-thingy to contend with.

For the few people that asked me in pm how the shoulder joint switch look like here is the pic:

And yes - you still get the full range of motion on the shoulder, you can still do all the crazy poses from promo pics etc [and it looks way better imho in therms of asthetics]
I also switched his feet joints but thats just personal preference [i had some spare dual disk small black joints, those are more flexible and in the same time more sturdy, so its way easier to pose him and joints dont split up when you rotate the feet]

I've had my Carnage for a week or two now and i still cant loosen the damn joints :/
My carnage got loose too easily and eventually broke.
My cap and eva units have the same problem with the joints coming apart. They just aren't made for our giant american hands .
if you display this with Gus you could recreate scenes from The Thing.
I love carnage so much but i feel like you hated on it too much for me this is on my top 3 on my action figure list i respect your opinion bro but chill there are gonna be bad figures but dame you hating on it too much like its really good you got to stop looking for the bad and look for the good like the weapons or the style or the portion you can put it in love your content bro still
