You once gave Lara the best compliment I've ever heard ..... " I want to sing like this when I grow up " - I am like so many others when I say I discovered Lara on RUclips and I have never looked back - she is, for me anyway, the ULTIMATE ARTIST - her voice is one of the most powerful I've ever heard; she has recorded in 12 languages; she writes a good number of the songs she sings; her tone is spot on; her diction ( in all languages ) is perfect; her vowel placement is at the top of her peers; she is one of only a very few who is actually better live than on recordings; she LIVES each performance, not just immerses herself but BECOMES the piece through her incredible emotion sharing abilities; as powerful as she is her voice is somehow pleasing and warm; I have a cousin, a recording engineer, who has worked with her several times and reports to me that she is extremely nice - not fake, movie star, diva nice, but genuinely a very wonderful person; she is ( credit Christi Bovee for this quote ) like an instructor giving a master class in vocal performance. I saw Celine in Vegas 5 times during her extended stay .......... very good, even great ( if you discount a slightly nasal tonation ) and would gladly attend again ---- but my bucket list includes Lara Fabian in a live concert way before a return to Celine. You, Christi, are the best at what you do AND you are extraordinary to look at and listen to. Be well
Ok, I know I'm going to get excoriated for this but, and this is just my opinion. When I listen to Celine, to me there is a slight nasal tone to her voice, not taking anything away from her fine singing abilities. Barbara has that Brooklyn accent, and endearing as it may be, when you hear Lara and the clarity in her enunciation to my musical discernment she is the best!❤
This wrecks me every single time. 😢 I feel that same thing, that we were robbed. It's so unfortunate that she signed with Sony. I'm sure they promised her the world knowing full well they were going to effectively shelve her. The music industry is brutal that way. This was absolutely stunningly mesmerizing, as many of Lara's renditions are! How she sings this flawlessly LIVE is mind-boggling, really. Such talent and control. Her breath reserves are something else! Wow. Thank you for another live stream reaction - those are fun, and I adore the international, knowledgeable, lovely people community that you've brought together (and a wave to your mama, who brought YOU into the world and was in the chat today!). Would love more Lara Live streams!
Hi Christi, greetings from Auckland New Zealand. My friend in Paris introduced me to Lara's music when I was there in 2006. Love her voice and Angelina Jordan.
I totally agree with you about her stage presence and relaxed way delivering the song . Furthermore, Let’s me say again that whatever the language used her diction is always pretty perfectly clear.
I was about 16 when I first watched this movie and it moved me a ton for some reason.. Listening to your reaction to this made made a grown up man tear up. My dad left us a year ago today. Had a terrible relationship, but dad is a dad. Again, thank you so much. Oh and je vous aime aussi. 😁
Hi Christi! Thank you from Brazil for this reaction.❤🇧🇷 Lara breathes through her nose many times when she is going to sing long/strong notes, I have noticed this even on cd recordings and in many lives videos.
Christi, thank you so much for this reaction to this masterpiece from Lara. Thanks also for Eric and his expert knowledge of all things Lara! Regarding breathing, as a trumpet player it is possible to use "circular breathing" which is breathing in through the nose whilst expelling air through the instrument. Loved your reaction. Phil in Scotland.
Will you please react to Lara Fabian & Mario Frangoulis cover of Cole Porters So in Love from Kiss Me Kate? I would love to see your thoughts. Mario also have an amazing voice and is classically trained and has a beautiful cover of Knights in White Satin in Italian! Also to hear Lara Fabian's lyrical soprano side you need to listen to La Traviata!
Linda reacción! Saludos desde Costa Rica! Hermosa canción e increíble interpretación de Lara Fabián, la mejor cantante e intérprete del mundo entero! Gracias!
Thank you for the wonderful reaction Christi. You've never made a reaction to Lara's perhaps best concert „En toute intimité“. It’s Lara's favorite concert and for many fans also her best. I could recommend any song from it, but you could start with „Calling you“ ruclips.net/video/KkfXEb_VyLM/видео.html
Thanks for that Christi,❤ definetely one of the best live performance of Lara. A good next one would be Humana live performance in Paris 2006 , you will see a beautiful smiling dancing Queen having fun with her audience.
A point in passing. It gets a bit fatiguing to hear Americans lament that Lara is not more significant in the U.S. as if it's the epitome of success. It wasn't simply that SONY had a vested interest in Céline back in the day. Lara, as an artist, refused to be turned into a pop singer in the American genre. We, true fans of hers - are pretty happy that she didn't turn into a tacky Las Vegas act like Céline.
Abrazo querida!
No she was not, this is a confusion introduced by a reactor reading a comment to say Lara’s parents were attending. The comment sentence was also talking about Barbra and could be misread. But Barbra highly praises Lara and she had David Foster to organize a dinner with Lara to discuss her interpretation choices of Je suis malade. She also covered Broken Vow in some concerts.
You are SO amazing. Lot's has transpired since I have been out of the loop. Know that you now continue to amaze and inspire me. I will be in touch re: mindset coach work. Hope you are well! Still treasure your reactions to my songs.
Christy, thanks again for your coming back to Lara. Here you could join your appreciation for Lara and love for Barbra 😄 There is another cover Lara made of Barbra: Evergreen. It was in Boston in an event conducted by John Williams. Lara was scheduled to do a duet with Josh Groban, one of her friends and admirer, which she did (For Always, soundtrack of Spielberg's A.I. movie ruclips.net/video/V4dttmn3ppU/видео.html ) , and Barbra was supposed to sing Evergreen in that show but for some reason couldn't come. Lara did replace her at the last minute. As a fan of Barbra, she knew Evergeen perfectly and nailed it down once again. This could be a suggestion for a later reaction: ruclips.net/video/FTa1MdPN-Io/видео.html But the legendary duet that the whole Lara's fanbase would love you to cover is her 1998 duet with Johnny Hallyday "Requiem pour un fou". This is a recent video with english subtitles and some context ruclips.net/video/U9-9AFxsqHE/видео.html This Johnny/Lara duet is legendary in all french-speaking countries. All foreigners that discover it say just "WOW". Johnny was a rocker, a vocal powerhouse monster, a mega star in France during 50 years, an absolute giant in the french speaking countries. The Elvis of France. To give an idea of his importance on the french music scene: - He was mentored by Edit Piaf when he was a teen - In his 20s, Charles Aznavour wrote songs for him and he was the one who enabled Jimi Hendrix to perform for the first time in big venues - All the great from the french music scene also wrote songs for him (including JJ Goldman, the french music godfather, or Michel Berger who you should know because he wrote Sos d'un terrien en detresse) - When he died in 2017, there were national funerals in Paris, with all current and former France presidents attending, 1 million people along the coffin path, hundreds of bikers preceding the coffin, and this song was played when the coffin penetrated the church. Also, many fans pointed you out to the channel "Lara the Ring Fabian". This is indeed a channel created by our young friend Gabie, that took time to translate, for english speaking people, many songs, interviews, tv shows with Lara. This is the best place to discover the smart, funny, humble, benevolent personality of Lara. Just a couple examples: - Lara Fabian on the importance of vocal training and warm-up: ruclips.net/video/5ie3CGxIwdw/видео.html - 11 mn of Lara Fabian being her iconic self: ruclips.net/video/F_y3lixzWro/видео.html Finally I would also recommend you to listen to this one: A young Lara, in a quebec tv show, singing verses of her hit songs, at the request of fans calling her, and nailing these with ease while seated and legs crossed (pffff): ruclips.net/video/LhWPbpXiGkY/видео.html Martin, What was the other video you wanted me to provide Christy the link for? Let me know if you read this comment.
@ericsicard910 It was such a joy to 'meet' you in the live chat today. I really appreciate your knowledge and love for this incomparable vocalist. Thank you for this wonderful list above! I'm excited to get to work on it! Blessings and many thanks again.
Thank you for all the great suggestions Eric, and if I may, I have a question. Do you know of any collaboration between Lara and Michel Legrand? Michel was one of my favourite composers and wrote so many wonderful songs. Best wishes from Scotland. Phil
@@philpiper he is also one of my favorite indeed. He is the genius behind these 2 Yentl songs, the Thomas Crown Affair, Summer of 42, Lea Demoiselles de Rochefort, Les parapluies de Cherbourg, and so many other masterpieces. I recommend you to check his piano duet with another jazz and movie soundtrack genius named Claude Bolling. I don’t think there has been any collab between Michel and Lara unfortunately. But I was told that he praised 2 covers of Yentl: the one from Lara and the other one from Regine Velasquez.
I love what you do and thank you. If it is possible I would like your reaction to my favorite singer, here in Quebec we have Céline and Lara but there is also Ginette Reno. I offer you the performance of the 400th anniversary of Quebec City with Jean-Pierre Ferland (the one who wrote the song) with Céline Dion and Ginette Reno. A little higher, a little further.
Oops I think my last comment got deleted because I put a link. Could you react to Johnny Hallyday and Lara Fabian's duo "Requiem pour un fou"? It might be useful to read the lyrics before watching to understand, as it's in french. The song talks about a main protagonist who kills his wife so nobody else can have her. He's surrounded by the police and knows he's going to die. Very dramatic. Johnny (a french legend, 1 million people at his funerals) has an incredible powerful raspy voice
@@TheVoiceLoveCo Christi, a tip if you don't understand French: find a video with english subtitles. You'll understand the dynamic even without understanding the lyrics, but it will add to the experience to do.
Columbia Records (Sony) signed both Lara and Celine to exclusive contracts within weeks of the euro vision competition..(Lara won second place) at the time Columbia had more than enough top tier singers but they liked to coral any potential talent and potential competition to their market share and also prepare for the future.... Barbara had been expressing a desire to retire and Lara was specifically drafted as her annotated replacement and was being groomed to that end until Barbara changed her mind and decided to NOT retire, leaving Lara in a box (on the back shelf).. Sony (and Celine) did not want to put Lara in a head to head match up with Celine so basically shut her out of the American Market... leaving Lara to tackle the rest of the world on her own... This situation lasted until Lara's contract expired, by then Celine was already a chart buster and Barbara was still performing..... Lara has done well in spite... Her "world" sales and concert draws easily match Celine's if you remove the American figures from Celine's totals... Speaking fluently in 7 languages and singing in more than a dozen... as good as Celine is, Lara is really the better singer, performer and the queen of storytelling... (IMO)
Christi. A big thank you for reacting to Lara again. Have you ever hear Isabelle Boulay? Highly recommended! Thank you as well for your kind words about Father’s Day! Very touching. ❤
@@DoggieFosters I’m not disagreeing with you- not my cup of tea… But this is a marketing competition (with a strong political influence) Celine represented France …(she’s Canadian )Lara did represent Luxembourg … not necessarily the best songs are the winners .
@ m @ Eric Sicard it wasnt Sony who refused to work with her its the other way around since they wanted Lara to change how she was singing so sh3 refused
I would like to use to react to Morissette been a while if you have react to her but lately she’s been invite by David Foster, legendary two months ago CCing Nav, enough and Whitney Houston
I think I'm different, I don't go on Celine's reaction videos to say something bad about her 😄 (To be fair, he stopped to do this a while ago) I have nothing against Celine, I just largely prefer Lara, both as an artist and human being.
@@ericsicard910 Ahaha! He did, indeed! Maybe he was banished from RUclips or he just found someone else to hate on! I think Céline is a fine human being as well (René was the one who screwed Lara, not Céline... I bet she knew what was going on, but she had to do what she was told to... I guess it's the price she paid for marrying his boss...). I prefer Lara as a person and I love her as an artist, way more than Céline, but Celine's French songs are very beautiful. Do you understand quebecoise accent easily? Even though I speak French (I'm a bit rusty and I've never been good on verbs (very difficult) but I still understand it welll but when I can have Frebch of English subtitles when I hear quebecoise accent, I miss a lot, because of the "crazy" vowel modifications! One french woman said that she sometimes has a rough time understand it! Ahaha! Some brazilians say the same about portuguese (I'm portuguese)!
@@vervideosgiros1156 it takes time for a french ear to get used to Quebec accent, I have been traveling there during 3 weeks long time ago and after a few days it went better 😀 Same for me BTW with the portuguese language. I am married to a brazilian woman, understands it quite well and speaks it a bit. But this is true with brazilian people and it is very hard for me to understand the portuguese accent 😀
Dear Christi, it is just my assumption about why - there are more reasons - Lara was not more recognized and you are saying that in your comment about Barbara S how they both sing. There is something with Lara (her origin, personality and approach to singing) that does not fit / match with US-american way of doing (pop) music (keyword originality). As consequence it has something to do with broader US-audience taste and how US music industry works. There was not even nobody (recognizing her immense talent) to bring her on Broadway (as you say - it`s crime). And if its true, that Dione-Team blocked her (keywords competition and "romantic ballades"), but CD herself loves LF, so how can team overran CD love for Lara? -- Two suggestion for yourself to listen to: For Always (AI 2001 Spielberg movie) and The dream within 2001 (movie theme). And may be you should listen to Laras I will always love you from the same concert,
Atrocious format for a review of Lara. I used to like your reviews of her, but your so lengthy interraction with the online Lara "experts" and luvvies did nothing much for your credibility as a reviewer. Plus, concerning Lara, you have become such a fangirl yourself. You did make some interesting points, but the review went on for far too long before you actually started listening you Yentl. Perhaps you could think of less live interraction, but I guess it is good for your subscriber numbers....
Here we got another desperate fan of CD lol😂 Desperate for attention because their idol disappeared due to a not good training while others are still active. lol😂
@@TheVoiceLoveCo I might be wrong. I must say that I consider you one of the very best reviewers on YT. You are very empathetic and I always jump on your reviews of Lara. I would encourage you to review the song first in your own inimitable way, and then embark, if you wish on other people's opinions. (I might be wrong). It is your opinion that really counts for me.

@@pacscanadadatabaseservices3711 I am g,ad you like it!

The reason Lara can take those long sustained notes and belts is because she takes our breath away every time she performs and obviously uses it!
The Eurovision in 1988 Celine Dion won but Lara’s song was more successful as it sold more copies overall!!!
Interesting. Even as a super Lara stan, I've got to admit that song is ...not inspiring to me. Kind of meh. (Not Lara, the song.)
@@DoggieFosters I’m not disagreeing with you- not my cup of tea…
But this is a marketing competition (with a strong political influence)
Celine represented France …(she’s Canadian )Lara did represent Luxembourg … not necessarily the best songs are the winners .
@@23big23big Céline represented Switzerland.
@@pacscanadadatabaseservices3711 you are correct !
Linda canción..también interpretada por Donna Summer...
Oh no love, she sings sitting down all the time..
She is not so well known because Celine in conjunction with Sony music conspired to block Laras entrance into the american market !
😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
🇨🇦 Most Canadian female artists are this BadAss !
Do you realise her parents were in the audience as well apparently the one and only Barbara S !!
Eric Sicard, you're always on Lara's videos! You're the opposite of Dede Jerême! 😅
He s coming ... soon
I think I'm different, I don't go on Celine's reaction videos to say something bad about her 😄
(To be fair, he stopped to do this a while ago)
I have nothing against Celine, I just largely prefer Lara, both as an artist and human being.
@@vervideosgiros1156 it takes time for a french ear to get used to Quebec accent, I have been traveling there during 3 weeks long time ago and after a few days it went better 😀
Same for me BTW with the portuguese language. I am married to a brazilian woman, understands it quite well and speaks it a bit. But this is true with brazilian people and it is very hard for me to understand the portuguese accent 😀
@@ericsicard910 Ahaha! 😉

She's my wife in my next life....
"promo sm" ☀️
She is a natural stage musical story singer. Barbara is stiff, sorry to say.
Hello @frankbirch3877 I thank you for this feedback.
Here we got another desperate fan of CD lol😂
Desperate for attention because their idol disappeared due to a not good training while others are still active.
lol😂
@@TheVoiceLoveCo Pay no attention. He's a Céline fanboy who feels a need to diss Lara.
Yup, lol... Jealousy is such a bad thing.. 😂😂😂
Fabian sings well, but I'm left unimpressed. I find her vocals reflect less emotion and beauty. Streisand performs a song, and it becomes hers alone.
Interesting, BS was impressed by Lara!!! Barbra never sang both at the same time! He listened to Lara and found it worthy to perform his song with her permission! What a performance!!!)))))
