Interesting video. I have similar problems withmy old trainwrecks, but have got a method that is EZr (for me). I remove the binding from the back (upper bout), & hotknife the neck block away from the back. This allows neck action to be resettable with some minor flexing of the sides near the neck. I put a threaded ready - rod attached to a turnbuckle thru the tailpin hole & hook it to a little cuphook l have screwed into the lower part of neck block, near rhe back. Then a plastic washer & wingnut, outside the guitar completes the jig. Picture the tailpin stand on a cello ! This allows me to set the neck angle, reglu & clamp it back up...with all strings on....UNDER FULL TENSION😅 Sorry for yelling, but has worked everytime for me, including some old Sovereign 1260 gems. What a tone on thise babies 🥰 Thanks for the ear 👂 Great to get these guys working & playing again 🤠 Chris...Canada
First time watching your videos. In high school, I had a band with my buddies. One was left-handed, our drummer. He really wanted to learn guitar. I thought him to play, upside down on a right-handed Strat. He caught on and still plays that way to this day. As a benefit, I became a better player too!
Great to see people developing their own repair techniques. Have you tried the clamp and steam neck reset for cheaper guitars? It has worked for me every time except for once.
That one was handmade in 1999. It is the 5th Mach 4 ever made. These early models were neck-thru body and had Bill Laurence pickups with fancy foil inserts.
Dude its confusing when you play it upside down. Like Elizabeth Cotton. Im thinking your left handed. I cant tell from your vides how well they play. But I am learning tricks. How do you loosen the glue for a neck reset. I have a Harmony Broadway in mint condition and I hate tp to put an iron or steam treatment to loosen it.
Yes, but Hendrix rarely played like this, only when borrowing a righty guitar, same with me, just out of necessity, it’s actually not uncommon among lefties

I love old acoustic guitars but, like this Harmony, the necks are always bowed, bent or bungled. I enjoyed your lesson. Thanks

Are you related to Niel Young in any way ? Good job.
Great advise for making it play well without exceeding the value of the guitar. Well done!!

@Chris thanks for this video. Can you please post the pictures of the shims being used? Very cool, hoping to try this method.

The mach 4 prototype in the back looks interesting ! Any story about is inception?

Is the guitar playing sort of inverted? You're playing with the bass strings down below the trebles, Hendrix-style, right?

...thank you for some very interesting points...mayhaps have the right handed player on hand to demonstrate the efficacy of your repairs...cheers,
Great common sense repair!!
