Oh my gosh. Thank you! I remade my continuous form 3 times yesterday following your tutorial for that and could not for the life of me figure out what I was doing wrong that it wouldn't display all clients. You are SO awesome.
welcome
Thank you for your simple and easy explanation. Can we use a combobox to be easier? can you make us a video with that idea? Thanks again
I don't understand your question
ARRRRRRGGGHHHHH! This problem was bugging me for days! I redid a form three times when I didn't have to. I can't believe how simple the solution is. Should've watched this video much sooner. 😭
Yes, indeed! :)
Thank you, that was very helpful, however for some reason when the information is entered it does it own thing and moves a few rows above
That's weird
Good video... But how do you stop the Detail Section of the Continuous Form from expanding to to the maximum height and push your Form Footer all the way down to the bottom of the page if you only have like 10 or 12 records to show in your Continuous Form?
599cd.com/ask
Yeah, sometimes one has to fill the bumps.
BTW, I wonder if there is a way to set different height for every record in a continuous form for "Form view"? All I need is to ensure that all the text inside my "long text" field of the record is visible. I mean no scrollbars, just autoheight for every current record depending on the length of the data in that field.
Nope. Can't be done... with standard Access tools.
You could possibly do it if you didn't use continuous forms and drew your own text boxes with an unbound form and used VBA to fill in / edit the data. Seems like a lot of work for not a lot of benefit. Might make an interesting side project tho.
In continuous form view, can you arrow down in the same column like you can in datasheet view or like you can in a table?

@@599CD Great extended video...also just purchased Dev 42...TY!
Thanks for the video!
Access has some real head scratchers that can be very time consuming! 🤷♂️
Sometimes. That's what I'm for. :)

Well, here’s another one of those head scratchers! 🙂 I’ll preface by saying I use Access 2016.
When I start a Form design, if I want to drop, let’s say all 6 fields onto the form, I should click the first, shift, and then the last (I’m sure I’ve seen you do that). That doesn’t work for me! If I drag and drop the first field, then I can go back and grab all the remaining 5. I can’t do all 6 at once! 🤷♂️
Great job there
thx
Thanks!❤
You're welcome 😊
The alternate background color reminds me of printouts from the 1970s and before, paper was called "green-bar" but the green should have been more mellow. I miss pinfeed forms 😔
😃
Ahhh... the good old days... when I used to walk to school in the snow... uphill.... BOTH WAYS!
With access each line is alternate color, but green bar was the whole page was equally divided, 3 printed lines per shaded/unshaded,which made faster looking for some data situations
@Computer Learning Zone which it would be uphill both ways, once heading to school and the other heading home unless one was on a high mountain
i like the trick with the one label and spaces on top
fields got corrupted every time i try to fill data in them....the size of the field changes and the little arrow you click to choose from a list keeps appearing and disappearing
LOL! I wouldn't call myself a noob (maybe a Lt noob), but occasionally I'll forget to shrink the detail height and then scratch my head until I realize what I "didn't" do.
Yeppp
You haven't minimized the detail section of the form by dragging it up to the data fields hence too much space between each field.
Bingo
The header and footers not been set steve b
Nope
The detail section is big
Yahhh
The background is too tall, it needs to be brought right up under the fields
"Detail section" not background... but yes, you got it.
the form is too big. Make it only as tall as one row of data :D
Bingo
i knew that ... 😃😛
sweet
Oh I caught the reason why it didn't work immediately. Detail section way too big 🤣
Bingo
I know.... Extra space 🤫
Yup
I know: detail section is to long (you can tell by looking at the vertical scroll bar)
Yissss
