This is lovely! I have a fiðla that I found at an antique shop in San Antonio, TX that I would like to use, but I think it's an unplayable model...the tuning pegs are glued in, the strings it came with are basic guitar strings, and the body seems like some kind of cheap painted plywood. I'm in the SCA and since it's a medieval instrument I would like to learn to play it, but I don't know if it's salvageable.

Email me a picture if you want a rough diagnosis but the best bet is to find a local instrument maker and show them, might be a simple fix.
