- The Argyll and Sutherland Regiment of the 12th Indian Brigade made their last stand during the battle for Singapore at a place called Dairy Farm in Bukit Timah.
Part 1 is the story of how the unit fought against Japanese armoured tanks.
Part 2 will reveal how the unit disintegrated against a determined invader.
Thank you James, awesome video. Should be included in the NSF national education.
Thank you ....as an aussie raised in Singapore in the 60's and 70's it took many years for me to forgive the Japanese ..majulah singapura...lest we forget....I lived at bukit Batok
I just started watching this vid, but I got here from the previous one - battle for Bukit Batok. Having lived in Bukit Batok and CCK for most of my childhood I recognised many of the places and roads and felt a deep connection to the place. I just got myself two beers and I'm here for more.
Thanks for this clip. I live in BP for last 50yrs and I used to stay at the foothill of gombak where the current mindef is. Not sure whether are you aware of some tunnels in there leading out to bt timah hill coz when I was young I remembered seeing a big iron door at gombak but now there is no traces of it, guess mindef could hv removed all from history texts.
Another fantastic work! Well done James!
Very informative video, good contents and awesome presentation make it an interesting video. Thank you James for producing and sharing this video.
Well done James... the video is an excellent introduction to the defence of the Bukit Timah hill. Looking forward to seeing Pt2 ...
An outstanding explanation of this part of the battle of Singapore! Your use of graphics, original and contemporary film and photos is the best I have come across on wartime history in Singapore. Congratulations.
Well done 👍🏻 James!
@James Tann - Looking forward to Part 2. We hope that you can provide further information on the Tank Companies of the Japanese 1st Tank Regiment involved in decimating the 12th Indian Infantry Brigade at the Bukit Panjang Village in Part 2 of your video.
Thanks. Excellent job. I lived in Hillview but had no idea of our history until now. 👍
Brilliant narrative and historical analysis of the Fall of Singapore. Hollywood should make a movie of this tragedy. James I highly commend you for your work in putting this together ✊. I think Mindef should make this part of their SAF history for NSF
Thks for sharing James. An excellent detailed account. Great work👍
Thank You. Great work.
Very good and thank you for recording this history 👍🏼
Amazing! Thank you for the video!
Thank you for this video, truly informative. I can only imagine all the 'inexplicable' actions you mentioned, can be explained by cowardice. And Percival certainly flaunted his English in his orders.
despite falling into the hands of the japanese, Singapore must pay tributes all those who stood behind till the very end to help fought the japanese and had laid their lives for Singapore. Highest gratitude and respect to The Aussies, indians, punjabs, british nationals who have made it possible for rest of the lucky singaporeans to live on and had gotten help from the west after the war to re-built it to the modern city of today.....but where was china back then? sadly, they were not even there to help neither malaya nor singapore when the chinese migrants were in trouble but today, china has the cheeks to accused desendants of these chinese migrants of ungratefulness and for taking sides with the west and will not become one of theirs irregarless ! At least they were willing to die proecting their comrades but sadly not the chinese communist back then. honestly, if it wasnt for the former prime minister of singapore, lee kwan yew given his guidance to deng xiao ping and his successors, china will never be what she is today!
Thanks for sharing
