With regard to domestic abuse and violence, the juror's who asked “Why didnt she leave ?” Clearly have no understanding of the subject. It is also appalling that the court was not allowed to hear that the husband had videoed the sexual and domestic violence and downloaded to porn sites. This woman’s case needs to be seriously appealed and reviewed properly.

As a society, we still have not managed to make it safe for people to leave abusive relationships. Particularly for women, the most dangerous time is AFTER they leave. If there are children, they are still tied to their abusers and the courts allow many abuser to use their children as a way of maintaining control over their ex. If a woman waits for her abuser to attack her before defending herself, it could be too late, if she manages to ''escape'' she will forever be living in fear. There is no good option for victims unless they have no ties and can leave their old life and everyone they know behind.

@@shesoverit2302- We're commenting after watching an almost 10min clip of this tragic story. But within this 9min25sec clip it tells us that her therapist had to convince her to have a FORENSIC nurse to photographly document her wounds, which they showed us some of the pictures. To me that alone makes her story seem MORE creditable & believable. Because you would think a FORENSIC nurse would be able to recognize SELF-inflected wounds!? And her having someone else help to get rid of her partner/kids father by inflecting those wounds on her isn't believable to me also. Because her partner would've also noticed them like everyone else & he would be asking questions, wanting answers, & telling people close to him that something isn't right, as humans we tend to talk & talk a lot. But like I stated earlier we're commenting on an almost 10mins clip of this tragic story. So I have to ask, do you PERSONALLY know more about this story? Also have you ever been in an abusive relationship!?

There was a very good reason.
      1) It wasn’t actually porn. It was pics of her in bondage etc. 2) Not a single pic included Chris 3) Most importantly, in order for evidence to admissible, the defense had to “lay a foundation”, meaning provide evidence of who took the pics, when & who loaded the pics online. The defense wasn’t able to do that, therefore it’s inadmissible. The judge could have also ruled that the evidence was more prejudicial than probative. But that’s not the ruling he made. It was based on lack of foundation.

Hulu has the episode. Unless someone has been beaten down mentally, debased, degraded, then you just cant even imagine how it chips away at your soul...outwardly you put on a smile and laugh and joke and act normal. YES you will lie to anyone who asks you about it, you will shut down when asked to communicate. When your alone with your abuser, its a whole different story! YES you know theres help, theres people telling you the right thing to do. There is counseling.. but by then your so beatdown you have no confidence to make the bold choice to leave. The abuser controls you and you know what theyre capable of, what theyll do to torment you. They might even change for a bit, but they always return to the abuser they are. This abuse will take years to overcome the mental degradation...it will rear its ugly head in your workplace, your confidence to do more, even how you mature and grow over time. Mental abuse is worse than physical which can heal. Words attach themselves to your spirit. ONE MORE THING: NEVER TALK TO COPS - THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS!

I wish Gabby would've protected herself like this woman did here. We will see more and more of this in the near future because the system does not protect women in abusive relationships. She also should've seek protection from her parents, that would've definitely kept Brian away. Then put a restraint order on him and go live with her mom or dad for a while until the threat is gone. Unfortunately, when in a DV situation you gotta lay low for a while and if that isn't enough to stop them from stalking, you move out of the country if you can. Focus on your relationship with God and Christ, helping your family members who already have children, your community and on bettering yourself. If you need and want someone to share your life with, make sure they are on Jesus Christ team. Also, being SINGLE does not mean being alone. Family and friends are there for that purpose. If she is believed she might be able to get a restraining order, but if/when he gets visitation rights to the kids, it is next to impossible for her to keep her address secret. Women are more likely to be killed after leaving an abusive relationship, many abused women have to move over and over again after their abusers track them down, and there is not help for that, for the expence, for the fear. As wrong as it is, I'd bet there are many women who would trade 7.5 years in prison for a life of waiting for him to find them, and the law does very little to protect victims.

Sadder still, at least in Duchess County,is the law is on the side of the abuser, like SO MANY DV cases that end up with one party dead.

To all my fellow women, the only advice I can give in the situation is that you should try to be better judges of character, especially when choosing men. Unfortunately, you don’t have the right to take someone’s life, but you could prevent this situation by not having a child with someone you don’t know very well and who has violent tendencies. In other words, stop choosing bad men. I know there are situations where you may not have seen the person’s true colors until it was too late, but in most situations, the signs and red flags are very clear and women choose to ignore them, because their own insecurities and desire to be loved. Learn how to love yourself otherwise your daughters will likely follow in your footsteps.

Let me start by saying that I support the #metoo movement and I have an unpopular opinion: Something isn’t right. I don’t believe her. 1. Chris’ ex said he was gentle, that he never abused her; people don’t become vicious abusers overnight. She stretched the narrative to get the SM stamp of approval, but Chris looking at you through a window, isn’t abuse-that’s a stretch. 2. Her body language is soooo off. When she talks about the murder, she almost smiles. 3. Sherri Papini told everyone that Keith was abusing her too, and showed everyone her bruises that she either inflicted herself or got through sports. 4. No neighbors or other mutual friends ever heard or saw anything! Only her mommy group friends….Could the injuries be nonexistent (makeup) or self-inflicted? Why are all the bruises fresh?
On the other hand, what’s her motive? We have to believe that she’s a histrionic/narcissistic/psychopath to do something like this for virtually NO reason. No insurance policy, loss of the father of her children. I guess full custody could be a motive?
Was the motivation simply drama and being the face of domestic abuse? Victimhood is a huge commodity these days. I honestly don’t know?

One of the psychological effects of systematic abuse and torture is that the victim might someday snap and retaliate with violence. If you are an abuser seek services and support and admit what you did to friends and family so your partner can get support instead of having the burden of making people believe her. and get her and the kids to a place of safety far away from you and maybe dont date again ever or until you have done the work and have a counselor and mentor in place to prevent violence.

Willing to take somebody’s life because you’re in fear of your life you know that’s different that’s totally different it is very very very very much different. That’s not the senseless crime that’s extremely understandable you know because so many people have been killed in all because they couldn’t do what she did or get out of the situation in any way you know.
But fear does cause people to kill you know when a person gets scared watch out boys you’re asking for it big time. So no jumping out of bushes and scaring a woman or anybody because he might get beat up like literally beaten to a pulp.
You scare somebody body enough they will beat you up or shoot you because they’re so scared they can’t stop what they’re doing their fear takes over their critical thinking. So if you ever think about scaring somebody whether it’s a guy or a girl lady or man I would never ever ever ever try it if I was you
This was an abusive relationship but it can happen even just as a simple joke you know. Like it’s like at night when people jump out of the bushes and scare people for joke then they wonder why they get beat up right. It’s because I freaking scared them the fucking scared the life out of them. You don’t know what people will do if they’re scared you know so it’s not a good idea take my advice don’t do that
Don’t ever ever ever try to scare somebody even if it’s a joke because you don’t know how they will React you just don’t know it’s not a good idea you know.
