Great series, thanks for posting! A few summers back I spent a lot of time fishing the lakes of James Peak wilderness areas. So much fun! Caught more cutthroat than I could count and saw some of the most beautiful places on the planet. Had one of the best days of my life at heart lake, by myself, landing hog after hog (all over 18 inch). Will never forget it! Looking forward to getting back up there later this summer.
Joseph Rouse thanks for the post. I will say that these high mountain lake trips are some of the most memorable I’ve ever had. I’m hoping to get back at it starting in July. Who knows? Maybe our paths will cross. -Tim
Really good vids, man. I live in Golden and was up that trailhead last July and can't wait to get back this summer. I didn't go as far as you as I got caught up in a non-stop brookie lake. 7+ miles, beautiful hike and it gives you the biggest sense of satisfaction being up there. Good on you and the work you put in. Quite the reward
You ever been to round mountain lake in Jackson county? It’s under 10,000 feet elevation and teeming with brook trout. Another favorite of mine is Big Rainbow lake west of Walden, Colorado near Mt. Zirkel. There are some big trout to be had. Not a difficult hike in, either.
Thanks, Caleb de Groot. Access to this lake and it’s ice over will vary from year to year. Typically speaking, it’s probably clear of ice through the first week of November.
I've been chased out of this spot by storms a few times. Saw fish just couldn't really fish them... looking forward to eventually landing one up there. What a great spot. Were you catching them on streamers?
Damn I’m impressed that blind fishing worked so well. Still honing in on fishing for em when I can’t spot cruisers. Can I ask what pattern/depth you were fishing?
Music Videos mostly using an intermediate sinking line and stripping a size 12 olive scud and trailing a black zebra tungsten chironomid using a slow overhand retrieve.

matt midthun thanks! I’m grateful that you are enjoying our videos. These high mountain lakes are by far the best fishing memories I have. -Tim
What trailhead?
Matt, where are you from? Are you related to a Dave and Wanda Midthun?
@@bradtufto6670 Hey Brad - I'm originally from Minnesota. There aren't a lot of Midthuns around. Where are Dave and Wanda from?
@@43lbcat Matt, I too originate from MN. Dave and Wanda lived in Laramie, WY and moved to Cody, WY. Lost track of them there.

No, I haven't. I'll have to look into that one for this summer.
Any idea if the Cameron Peak fire affected Big Rainbow?
Nice video. Nice fish. The indian peaks only holds hybreds. No true greenbacks due to cpw stocking the wrong fish.
Randal Vaughn good info. Thank you.
Best videography I have seen on youtube!
Thanks, I really appreciate that.
Is this frozen over in November? Awesome videos guys. Beautiful work.

Mostly on green scud patterns and snowcone chironomids. -Tim

Wow cool video that is one awesome trout...
Yeah those fish were so fat I thought there had to be scuds in the lake!
So nice! What lake was this at?
