People are tearing this presentation apart with so many critiques. Let it go. It was clearly an accident that she said psycho-sexual. Psycho-social was written on the screen. She's not that difficult to understand. Be grateful that anyone even took the time to make something like this for you.
Drake Hoffman I Know most of you won't continue this, but my family will be the ones who do. In honor of someone who has died or is fighting cancer or ever had cancer. Copy and paste! 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝.ooo
Thanks for being a decent person. ^_^ It's tiring to see people put the negative parts of a video --- especially mistakes --- over the positive parts of said video. Kudos to you.
This shit is deeper than many of you may think if a lot of parents knew this before they had children then a lot of children would be better off today but hey everyone has to live and learn
Damn, studying this for pediatrics but I couldn't help but pause and reflect on my own self. I'm 22 yet I still always doubt myself in everything and I feel like such a people pleaser and self-esteem is to the ground. I remember how my mom would overly criticize me growing up. This makes sense :(
You are still young and resourceful. Just keep on pushing yourself out of the comfort zone and I am sure that after a while you will trust yourself more and more. Easier said than done of course. Maybe this book can help: "Your Erroneous Zones" by Dr Wayne W. Dyer. Good luck :)
A long-time Nurse who has applied Erickson's stages throughout my career- its been really valuable in helping people to identify where they're at, and then work through it and thrive. I integrate his concepts with Maslow's Heirchy of Needs. The setting where I really saw these crises manifesting was while working in a state prison in a large population, where these unresolved crises were quite evident. Good stuff, thanks for posting 👍
Yeah, I looked at my stage and said, "Hell no!" I'm partying it up tomorrow cause it's my birthday and I'm also ready to date! I feel sorry for whoever is interested in me because I'm too psycho for anyone but whoever can put up with me (I'm attracted to bisexual women, by the way), is worth keeping and I'm about to purchase a home in my dream state so the next person that I actually like 100% will become my wife. 🙏

Thanks for sharing. One suggestion - the audio level fluctuates wildly and the general audio quality is pretty poor. Your great visual presentation is undermined by the poor audio. This presentation would greatly benefit from a better quality microphone.
This lesson is well put together. I have received more out of it than other searches. The presenter has given a clearer understanding through thorough explanation. She spends a minimal amount of time on each stage but speaks clear in her examples, which set an understanding on what the child-adult is going through. One example I like is allowing the child to put their own clothes on and supporting their effort. Another is in stage 4, when the presenter talks of the child's need to show competence/pride among their peers and parents. The presenter also explains the negative outcome through good examples; like, how rebellion and not knowing who they are, a big stage in transitioning to adulthood. Also, there is comments about how mistakes, stress, and loss of control contribute to balance, when some guilt does contribute to positive choices. Yes, this video is my go-to for Erikson's PD. Well done.
This is a kick ass break down for this theory. It took weeks to go over this in my Child Psych class and this is a great crash course version of it. Thank youuuuuuuuu.
I love your videos! You explain everything so easily and clearly. You should know that thanks to your videos I have passed my psychology exams. Thanks a lot!
It seems like Erikson got in a bit of a rush towards the end of these stages, I mean 18-40 years old is a large age gap. Of course more development happens at an earlier age and therefore has more phases. But I think it would be useful to have a more specified 6th stage. Great video!
No, it’s a theory of development as in how people develop into the behavior they exhibit as adults. some things are so fundamental once they’re experienced in childhood they affect the individual for the rest of their lives, whether it’s to unlearn or further explore whatever trait it is, just like ur body you don’t grow fundamental skills learned in childhood. For example forbidden experiments where children raised w wolfs could no longer learn Human language or mannerisms. Yes you can learn but you can not change fundamental skills as far as we know so it wouldn’t make sense to have development up until the person is 40 because at that time they have already developed their personality.
I think that this is a fair criticism to make. 18-40 really is a large age gap however, it might not actually be a large as it seems in other cases. The other thing is that this theory is considered under the psychosocial framework and like it was stated at the beginning of the video this means that it is mostly to do with the development of an individual's sense of self in combination with external factors related to the external world within a social context meaning friends, family, society and culture. The theory itself is also about 70 years old and formed at a time when psychology was in its infancy.
I find it very fascinating how this theory, made so long ago, still applies today. I can see how I went through or will go through each of these stages in my life. Psychology is so interesting.
Thank you for taking the time to make a video to help people like myself to better understand Psycho-social development - I am a VISUAL Learner and am finding it difficult to grasp the concept. Your voice recording, however, is fluctuating from high to low. A great video helped a lot - thank you MCAT - Khan University.

Good presentation. Think there is an issue with the volume/sound? Hearing a lot of background feedback or something, slightly distracting as I keep preparing for another loud surge in volume.
I too have different age brackets; remember though, each child is slightly different and the importance is to watch for their developmental occurrences. The age brackets are general guides that can fluctuate for each stage.

My way of memorizing them: There are initial industries identifying intimacy ---without-- general integrity.

not gonna lie, this was very infromative thank you very much. job well done my dear
This was a great presentation. It has helped me to understand the topic better. Thank you very kindly for sharing.
great video! It was very easy to understand, and the use of real-world examples made it easy to apply too!
14:41 Inadequacy should be the spelling. You still misspelled it, but I know those days too well. Thanks for the explanation.
Thank you for doing this presentation!! Very helpful :D

I have had to watch this content for school. While I find the it very informative and helpful, the sound quality is unbearable at times.
Glad to know it wasn't just me with audio issues. I think this topic needs to be remade with the intentions of fixing these problems.

thank you very much
That helped me so much.
Excellent teaching!
A lot of the information shared was taken from Dawn Apgar's social work book...and I don't see it mentioned on here??
Noemi Flores the ages in Dawns book differ from what's in this video. Kind of confusing, as the information shared conflicts.
thank you for this
8. Ego integrity
Erikson was so wrong, but his goal to try to understand was very noble.
Oh. You cleared up everything quite nicely. Thanks. -__-
What program did you use to film this? Ive been looking for something like this for my presentations.
Thank youuuuu
Really good information! We just dropped a rap explaining this theory 🔥🔥🔥 I really like the framework!
How was my parents able to miss the first four stages…..🤣
Thank you! This is great.
very clear. Thanks
