We need more unlicensed Lego originals. Atlantis, Space Police, Power Miners, Castle, ect. City has definitely taken a lot of attention, and I know that licensed series have proven to be WAAAAY more monetarily beneficial, but still.
The Diver's were a bit more interesting at the time, just because this theme pioneered that modern Astronaut EVA piece. This was also one of the few themes where all of the Diver's actually have names and each character has a distinct face. This would have been helped a lot if they gave us a few figs not in diving gear and some hairpieces.
This is so nostalgic for me. The first frame of this video is the set I've had on display for like 12 years now. Love it. Idk if you've ever ranked all castle sets but I really loved those, especially the mine sets with the trolls.
I had it. The shark temple. I wanted to make sure it never came apart, it was so glorious. I tried to glue it together, it failed. I kept it out of reach of my brother, that helped, but over time it fell to ruin. Its scattered across my bins now... with the squid temple, the guardian of the deep, Bobby the angler, and even the big white palace...
Well the sets that are at the bottom are obviously gonna have more things I don't like about them and for some of the sets it's easier to talk about the stuff I don't like.
loved this theme, I do also believe the vessels deserve a bit more credit for their overall design and how iconic they all are. But I can agree that the divers most of the time aren't that special unless you create a team of them, and the shark was never so great.

Pretty good list but c’mon the Deep Sea Raider should be higher than #11! That submarine looks awesome and is also so much fun to play with, with its spinning drill and its hand that grabs really effectively, both on arms that have really good articulation. You can have much more fun with it compared to the Typhoon Turbo Sub, and its also a more durable, less flimsy build.
I remember, this theme so well, watching the series/movie and playing the minigames on the lego website during computer lab in elementary school, good times.

I remember that there was a Atlantis book that had two separate mini sets one build for each side at my schools book fair when I was a child. Kinda like the Star wars one tgat was in stores when the Animated "Star Wars the Clone Wars" movie released as a promotional item
The only collectible keys I have is the red one that has a shark print and the yellow one that has a turtle print I can’t remember what build that came with it. It was a very very long time ago.
I was close to getting the Gateway of Atlantis but couldn't get it even after collecting all five crystals (treasure keys) because they were now becoming expensive and I would have to rely on a small business store that could sell that.
Tbh this makes me sad in a way, never really kept anything in one pice as a kid. Everything got lost for the most part lmao. I don't think I got one part from these sets

I used to always destroy my old sets and lose the instruction books (when I was like 5) so it was fun to look at this video and try to remember what sets I had by the unique pieces. I definitely had the seabed scavenger, and I think I had the typhoon turbo sub bc of the propellers and the keystone thing, but I never remember owning the shark guy, oddly. One of my mom’s friends kids must have taken in in one of those good ol forced friendship double hangout situations. One kid in particular stole some of my ninjago snake characters… all of theme were ones with unique head molds. Nostalgia. Strangely enough I do remember the shark enough to know you could slide pole pieces in its mouth. (like you could put the trident in his mouth)
Honestly, I liked the Sea Jet just because I thought the Minifigure looks nicer. But I did add an extra light on the right side of the jet to make it look better.
Miss this theme dearly, I have all of the first wave sets still built in a box, the atlantis gate and two of sets of the last wave, but those are in pieces somewhere ahah
I had both number 14 & 13! I moved so many times I ended up losing these but recently I found the figure from 14 but no helmet and the shark’s body with the diver’s head on it. So I’m missing some scuba gear and the shark head for just the minifigures

It does look like a squid but all I said was that it is a cage that is made out of bones which is what it looks like. I didnt say squid bones, it could just be any bones made to look like a squid.
I really don't think it would be a poly bag today. Or at least not in Ireland. All of those poly bag set were in boxes. I remember opening my mini Neptune :)

(actually I tell I lie, I saw a few LEGO creator sets, like the tiny Steam Engine. After looking there's some LEGO Friends sets in poly bags here too. I don't pay attention to those sorry)

Typhoon Turbo Sub was my first ever lego set. I got it as a gift from one of my mom's friends. I wish I kept it in one piece.

1:28 the only find I liked the mega sized wheels was on the Lego City Construction/Demolition/Mining vehicles😂. The other themes just looked weird
