Some people are sent invites to come to the mall for a fun event. Everything is going well as it gets dark outside. Suddenly, the lights flip off. This song starts playing in an unending loop. People are... confused. They wait for a bit for the lights to come on and the music to end but nobody comes to help them. They try to leave but the doors... they're locked. As soon as they check the doors, a crash is heard a little bit away. They aren't alone in this mall. So they need to find a new way out... or else.

Super Mario 64 is not a horror game by any means, but it's incredible how people can take a picture of a certain room and already becomes creppy, might be because of the hardware, who knows

I was playing Sm64, and I fell down a pit in hazy maze cave, and it took me to a secret desert level.
I had a dream I somehow lived in the M64 world and after getting into the basement the castle looked just like this photo.
Similar thing happened to me. It only lasted a few seconds but I dreamed I was in the world but there was this huge dark square room in the castle full of memorabilia then it ended. Nintendo must have really accomplished their goal for Mario 64 to be "dream like" if we all share these same experiences.

I always find it to be a true wonder when someone can take something so innocent, happy and bright like Super Mario 64, and then twist it into something deep, something dark, something so incredibly unsettling. this is a beautiful example of that. from the somber SM64 soundfont remix of a distorted Heartaches to the familiar yet oddly uncanny photo of the castle lobby.
it will always amaze me to see how much people can do with something like SM64; how much more complex it can become with even the slightest alters. it's incredibly, honestly.

I had something similar too. I dreamed about this two times in my life (the first was when I was 7 years old and the other was when I was 14) my dream was about a 4th floor in the Peach's castle. It looks so lonely, a bit dark and even there was paints that I didn't see in another part of the castle

I remember the last time that I got lost into a Liminal space trip in my dream and then this Castle appeared of nowhere in front of me showing my terrifying memories that I got here...

But he can't recall anymore why he was going out; this happens at least twice a week for the past year and a half. "There's a monkey kidnapping a woman... I have to save her, Luigi." This was new, had he forgotten about the cake? Peach would be waiting for him with the cake at the castle. "No, Mario. We're going for that cake at Peach's castle." He nods his head and agrees. "But what about the monkey?" "There's no monkey, it was just a dream." "No. There was a monkey... I remember." "Why don't you sing me that song you like so much?" Mario smiles and begins humming Dry Dry Docks... it doesn't sound anything like it anymore, and eventually becomes Bomb-omb Battlefield. "No, that's not right. How did it go again, Luigi?" The original song disturbs me beyond I can describe, but somehow this version doesn't disturb me at all. In fact, I can even imagine a situation fit for it: The protagonist just suffered a huge defeat and the whole team is at a loss but, one night, the protagonist's tragic past show up and remind him of what he's fighting for and this song plays during the dialogue. The protagonist leave the team and rush into battle alone while everyone is sleeping.

Anyone who grew up really living in mario 64 for a while probably has vivid dreams of the castle. A grand lobby that has a upstairs, the basement, everything.
Hell ill bet some of our castles even have levels. Imagine how many miles of mario 64 similar castles have been traveled by a collection of dreamers just excited to settle down after a simple yet tired school day to play
I grew up on Super Mario 64 DS, but that doesn't change much. I remember having a recent dream of playing the game on my DS, guiding Mario through regions of the castle that don't exist in the actual game, drawn through a labyrinth of my mind's making. I can only imagine how Mario felt as he explored the halls that weren't there before. He thought he had the castle down, but now there's something new. It's got to be strange.

Ok I actually found something. It seems that this might come from a romhack. The weird flag above the double door seems to have a bowser symbol on it. By lighting up the picture the very dark part seems to stay dark, but there is something a little bit brighter. If someone could sharpen it and make it look well.

Me waking up at 3AM with the TV on and Mario 64 still running.
I swear to god as a kid waking up at 3AM there was always some weird shit happening. A lot of it I credit to adult swim and their early morning programming but even besides that. Waking up the the original Xbox Home Screen sounds was so haunting. Destroy All Human’s Mothership with Pox berating you for not doing anything. Black Ops 1 Main Menu with zombies selected, the sound of the guy banging on the glass. All these memories burned into my mind forever.

This song gets me to forget the one i've known. That unfortunally left me. Known them for my whole life as a bestie but dued to my autism i was uncontrollable and stuff and was just not understanded and they just did not wanted to be friends anymore. Now it been 3 days after that and it very rough but this song helps to forget ab them so it dont brings me down.
Now im left with no one but my family. I have no friends now and it just shows that the world was just unfair and toxic.
