No short cuts here. First class all the way. I can really appreciate your design for issues that will arise down the road , accessibility, upgrades, etc. You are definitely thinking long term with your design. I know you, your family and your clients will be so proud of this engineering marvel. Thanks again for including us and educating us on your journey with the build. Tight lines Captain Joe.
Glad you enjoyed the boatbuilding update. Trying to plan for the future on this one for sure! She has been a lot of work, but I think its going to be worth it! Thanks for watching!
Found the channel about a month ago and love watching ! Can't wait to watch them all. great job !
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Crawling around under that plug sure made me chuckle. Just remember you're not 16 anymore.😆
Haha, yep! It wasn't easy getting out of there! Thanks for watching!
Gonna be a nice boat! Thanks for sharing./ showing the amount of craftsmanship/time/effort that goes into it.
Thanks Bama! It's been a LOT of work! For sure the most challenging thing I've ever built. A boat like I need just does not exist on the market today. At 29 feet this is the largest hybrid/bay class boat I know of. I think it's going to be a game changer for our charter business. I appreciate you watching and commenting! Tight Lines!
Wow this is an absolutely incredible build!!!!
Thank you so much! Glad you are enjoying it!
i like video👍
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the Video! Tight Lines!
These videos are great. Very interesting to see the process of building a boat step by step. It really gives us a whole picture of the components of a boat.
Great job! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching!
Amazing work. Thank you for sharing the process
Glad you liked it! Thanks for your comment!
Dude, this is INCREDIBLE!! Can’t believe how much you’ve done since I’ve seen it. Pretty cool seeing Mark in the vid too!! Great job on the boat and this video was fantastic!!
Thanks Buddy! We are not Fishing very much right now, so I have a lot more time to work on the new Boat. It feels really good to be making some Big progress! Thanks for watching, and commenting on the Video! I really appreciate it!
Very interesting! Never knew how much it took to build a boat from scratch.
It's a big project for sure! glad your enjoying seeing the process. It will be a happy day when its finished, I can't wait!
Wow thats pretty awesome!!! Love to see the finish product
Thanks! you and me both! We should be making more progress now that our charter season has slowed down.
Wow that's awesome, comin along with the best boat ever.
Thanks! Yep, It's getting there, its been a lot of work and a lot of money, but its going to be worth it! Looking forward to our first trip out on the new boat with you guys! I appreciate you watching, and commenting on the channel. Tight Lines!
That absolutely nice boat
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching!
A little more glass with keep you from wondering if you used enough
Overbuilt is better than underbuilt! Everything is doing great so far!
Boat is looking great. Your mom told me about your channel as e were talking about her books. Good luck with your charters, I’m on Little Lagoon and believe I saw you just recently.
Awesome, Thanks! Welcome to the channel!
Absolutely fascinating! Glad you did an update. Happy New Year!
Thanks, Glad you enjoyed the video! Can't wait to get out there in the new boat with you Guys, it's going to be next level nice!
Happy New Year 🥳
Same to you!
Catching up on the boat build from start to finish. I admire your attention to detail. All of your hard work is going to pay off with one stout boat! I've done a bunch of fiberglass work and have made some parts from scratch but I can't imagine building an entire boat from start to finish.
Thanks, It has been a major project! I grew up around boat building, so I am used to the process. But this is the biggest boat that I have designed, built a plug and mold for. Then all the engineering for hull number 1. I am ready to go fishing after this one!
Your looking pretty mobile for an old man!!
Ha, Yep! It was one of my better days!
Man that’s a lot of work 🥴 the video doesn’t really show how pretty this boat is.It is a really complex design with a multi-dead rise bottom with 4 spray rails. We can’t wait to see this first hull come out of the mold.Joe has promised me that I will get to be on this new boat for the first ride and I can hardly wait!!😄
Thanks Brother! It feels good to be making some serious progress on the Boat. I can't wait for that first ride either, I guarantee you will be right there with Me!
This is just amazing! I hear that coating the fuel tank is not a good thing, however, you did a more epoxy base rather than a tar like substance......they say it retains moisture, what is our thought on that?
Does the reinforcing require a lot of weight transfer planning?
Joe….when you put the floor in the 29 footer, is it sloped at all to drain to one side or direction…..or is it just flat?
It has several degrees of pitch from the bow to the stern, and is also slightly pitched from the outside to the middle at the stern. I am very happy with how it sheds water and drains with the setup we have. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
That looks really great, is your fuel tank only sitting on this for points tho? Seems like a lot of weight. Hope it is going well with no issues as this seems to be old video
Thanks, it has the 4 points, plus several bolts down each side, then 4 pound density foam poured all the way around then epoxy and fiberglass around the edges. It should last a lifetime. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Question
What’s the difference between the plug and the mold? I understand you get the mold from the plug, but why can’t you use the plug as the mold? Is it for patenting reasons?
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I really enjoy the videos. Do you think you’ll ever film while actually doing the work? Keep up the amazing work, really appreciate it.

A plug is basically the mold for the actual boat mold. A plug looks exactly like the part you are building, the mold is a mirror image of that part. Another way to explain would be that one would be considered a male part, and the other would be considered a female part. Plugs are usually considered a one-time use, whereas a mold would be for production use. I am the designer of this boat, so I am not worried about patent issues. If someone were to use another boat builder's hull as a plug, to build a mold then there could be legal issues. I started filming the boat-building process so that family, friends, and charter clients could see how our new charter boat was coming along. I honestly had no idea how much other people would be interested in the build. Also filming while doing fiberglass and gel coat work can be difficult at times. If you check out some of our more current videos, I think You will see that we do show more of the actual work being done. Hope this answers your questions. Thanks for watching!
@@FishBumpTV yes, Sir, you have answered my questions and I understand about the plug now. Thank you for taking the time to explain it to me.
I will look at earlier videos, I enjoy watching people work, since I’m disabled, and can’t really get out to do much myself.
Keep the videos coming, I’m sure you’ll get a lot more interested viewers.
Thank you for sharing, you have a new sub.

Did you just use schedule 40 PVC for the rigging tubes ? Why the need to fiberglass over the whole PVC pipe ?
Yes, I used schedule 40. I glassed around it to add more strength since 40 is pretty thin. Also the fiberglass holds better to itself than to pvc, by wrapping it you get better secondary bonding. Thanks for watching!
