You can also just drag your pokemon from the side bar out of it and it will follow, but if it isn't available to follow it will say it's shy. You can rename a traded one once I believe. Could be wrong though. (similar to sword and shield)
@@fqqwfqfwqfwqfw8115 yep! The follow thing where they say they are too shy to come out is primarily for the gen 5 pokemon since they don't have follower sprites. Well, most don't. The ones that didn't appear idle in towns in the overworld I believe.
