    This is really a life-saving device! I got this as a birthday gift this year. I was told that during my sleep at night I keep pausing my breathing, so my bf just waking me up so I can move and breath well again. When I got this device, I was really amazed as I woke up in the middle of the night because this ring was keep vibrating when my oxygen dropped to 78 that leads me to be disturbed a while so I can be aware of my breathing. I love this ring!

      Wow, great report! Thanks for sharing. Yea, often the only way we know we have a night breathing issue is when a partner notices and wakes us up! Glad this ring is helping. I'm going to send your comment to the company. I think they would like to see it.

      @@SWT As a CPAP user with mild apnea I have to say I love this ring but I wore it to bed for the first night last night and had the worse night's sleep in years. It kept buzzing me informing I was below the threshold...I had 23 drops with the lowest being 77%. (Normally I only get 2) It just caused me too much anxiety to even sleep after being alerted about the drops. I was able to turn off the notifications on the sp02 and pulse but it doesn't completely silence the vibration as the only lowest option setting is "very weak" which is still to disruptive. Because of that I'll be returning the ring. With my chronic insomnia I only want the info not the disruption or I would never get any sleep at all. Great review by the way! let me know if there's a way to completely silence the alarm on an Android phone and thanks!

      You need to sleep on your side. This position helps to prevent apnea. It is well documented that apnea and snoring occurs if you sleep on your back as the throat relaxes and causing the apnea.

      @@millsmixx5080 either you need to adjust your threshold or your CPAP is not working as it confirms that your SPo pass it's threshold which the CPAP suppose to not let it drop like that by supplying the positive air. If you have dropping SPo, it means you are not breathing.

      @@millsmixx5080 same here, it happens to me quiet sometime.. and to avoid disruption, I have no choice but to remove the ring from my finger. It would be good if the ring vibrates in the middle of my sleep, but sometimes when I just lie down, few mins. After the ring will starts to vibrate.. it's kinda annnoying

    Good Review! Some missed features: Has audible alarm, in conjunction with vibrating ring, via cell phone, for heavy sleepers. If you press magnifying glass on chart screen, numbers appear on graph line, for precise reading. Sampling rate for O2 and heart rate, is every 4 seconds.

    • @SWT
      @SWT  4 года назад

      Thanks for the additional information. Very helpful. Yes, the refresh rate it the best on any device I have seen on the market. That's every 4 seconds of every minute of every hour you are asleep. It's bound to catch an 'event' if one happens and they are longer than 4 seconds duration.

    I bought this several months ago after having a sleep study and being diagnosed as having mild to moderate apnea. I wondered if one overnight uncomfortable session in a clinic was really representative of my sleep, so I haven't yet gotten the recommended BPAP machine. Instead, I have been monitoring my sleep every night for several weeks and am amazed at how variable the nights are. Some nights have significant drops with one or two that awaken me with a buzz, but most nights are very good. It helps me to figure out what factors during the day might affect my sleep, or whether my allergies might be affecting my breathing. For example, nose breathing results in a much better night than stuffy nose mouth-breathing. I really recommend at least several days of monitoring, as one night is not necessarily representative.
    Another feature that has been useful is the ability to save notes and to share as a pdf. Looking at the pdf shows even more detail bout the night's events. You can also share the pdf if you choose. (little icons at the top right)

    Great video! I just bought this but wish it didn't do military time. A couple questions. Does it work with other apps for data other than the main VI app? Also I noticed that I wore it when I was walking or moving a round a bit in the kitchen and it started beeping and telling it was 40 percent. I mean wow, 40%! I would be dead right? lol! I felt just fine when it happened Then it jumped back up to 99. Do you suppose it was a fluke or something or is it normal for a person's oxygen level drop like that for a second or 2. I'm a very healthy fit person with no issues other than mild sleep apnea.

    • @SWT
      @SWT  3 года назад

      Keep working with it until you get used to its quirks. Remember, like medical equipment at a Doctor's office, you'll get the most accurate reading if you stay very still. It's trying to read subtle changes in reflected light from blood movement in your capillaries. Washing dishes, opening the refrigerator and going about life in motion makes it very hard to stabilize on consistent readings. Oh, and thing of military time as Doctor's time for reference on charts, etc., so they easily know if a snippet of data was recorded in the AM or PM.

    Very nice product but here's my problem with it: im glad that you compared it to the SPOVAN Blade a $40 device that seems to perform just as well as the ring with the difference being that the ring monitors every minute while the Spovan tracks every 10 minutes (btw can you check if that's indeed the case, that it only reads oxygen every 10 minutes or if it just gives you data compiled every 10 minutes?) and the results seem very comparable. But the ring costs almost 5 times more than the band. (Its on sale for $135). I cant recommend the ring because of the price and its limited functionality.

    • @SWT
      @SWT  4 года назад

      Good observation. I'll see if Jason has an idea if the readings are incremental or averaged over a 10 minute period. My concern is that an apnea event is a short lived thing lasting, perhaps, a few seconds. If the breath were withheld for 10 minutes, well, you wouldn't need to monitor it anymore. You'd be dead. As you can see when zooming wayyyy in with the ring app, the samples are taken about 4 time a minute, so the likelihood of catching each and every dip in Blood Oxygen is quite high. That's probably why the number of "dips" is large over the entire night as monitors by the O2Ring.
      So I'd be inclined to say you get what you pay for. I'd start with the Spovan Blade as an introductory device to monitor Blood Oxygen and potential apnea as it's easy to wear on the arm and gives good data. If you need more accurate data or know you suffer from blood oxygen level issues, then the expense may be warranted for this ring monitoring device which captures more data more often, but costs more and only does the blood oxygen and heart rate monitoring, not the ECG and other stuff found on the Spovan Blade band.
      Considering it's right now Black Friday/Cyber Monday deep discount sales, the price is much lower than usual, so take that into consideration. You can see the final price by using my link in the show notes, then adding the ring to the card and go through to checkout. The discount is applied at the last page before putting in your payment information, so that will be the price charged. You get an additional 15% off their discount price, so it's really a good deal. After Cyber Monday the price will go back up, but the 15% discount should still work on their normal pricing.

    • @hammerjoe2008
      @hammerjoe2008 4 года назад

      @@SWT That is a very good point... It doesnt make sense to only do readings every 10minuts... at minimum do it every 30 seconds? If the band is already checking the heart rate constantly why not do it for oxygen as well at the same time?

    • @hammerjoe2008
      @hammerjoe2008 4 года назад +3

      @@SWT have you been able to check with Jason how often oxygen is checked during sleeping? The manual doesn't say anything about the measurements during sleep and as for oxygen it only mentions that it checks every 5 minutes. I really hope that it does it more often overnight.

      Yes, it is. I had no idea I am so susceptible to sleep apnea events. Jason mentioned 9 out of 10 men who snore have apnea issues, so I guess it's actually a common thing.
