  • In this episode I review Oaxaca Club mezcal artesenal. This 41% abv espadin is very smoke forward. It comes from the Mitla region in Oaxaca that does not export much outside of Mexico.

To me in my experience all Espadin tastes exactly the same. And the quality dose not matter at all, it could be industrial or artesanal it’s the same. Now I have not tried an ancestral version, maybe that one is different

Ingredients matter for sure and production methods affect taste. If you never have, try some real high quality stuff next to cheap industrialized stuff side by side to see if you can notice anything different.

Possibly the lower abv is the reason why those flavors dissipate quickly 🤷‍♂️. Maybe if it was a mid 40s to upper 40s abv it could have much more robust flavors

Higher abv mezcals are the bees knees
