Dude. This is hysterical. I installed Carpet full time for 13 years, from the ages of 21 to 34 years old. At 34, I decided to change my profession to EMT, then Paramedic. I can tell you that dealing with dying people is WAY easier than laying rug. God that was an awful job.

These are just maybe some carpet installers but my dad installed carpet for 45 years .. He started when he was 20 as a Helper and learn the trade and became a professional carpet installer until he was 65. I often helped him and we always replaced the pad when the owners bought pad for their new carpet. 1 funny things my dad would say when the homeowner would ask how long he was doing carpet , he would look at his watch and say oh about 20 minutes lol. We always showed up on the job bright and early and he always gave a business card with his name on it and if homeowners called him with a problem he was always right there. I think this video maybe telling some truth to some carpet installers but not all. my dad had the nicest truck and was clean-shaven more than most carpet installers that were working for the same business. My dad always said if I was a homeowner and saw this vehicle pull up I would say nope I want somebody else lol this video was fun to watch, my dad was so good at what he did I watching this reminds me of what I learned regarding carpet installation. My job was to scrape the floor from the old Staples sweep up the floor. Lay the tack strip in the area and he would go around it with the scooter and nail down all the tack strip. I would sweep the floor again in case of tack strip pieces and I would install the pad, tack it down and cut it in. My dad did the rest but I would use the stair tool to tuck the carpet in after he stretched it and cut it and I would pick up all the scraps get any tools he needed and pick up all tools. It's a very physical job which I can understand why my father took up this trade. He was not the type to sit or work in the same place every day. After the installation in the day was done was the best, we felt good about ourselves because we accomplished something. No need to go to the gym, believe me your legs will be tired at the end of the day once you sit for 30 minutes and try to get back up. I became very physically fit just like my dad. Today my dad is 78 years old, he retired at 65 due to a heart valve issue and he needed surgery. I often worried that all the glue from laying pad on cement floors and the glue from the tape that you used for seams was harmful to breathe, we always open Windows when the weather wasn't so cold but my dad is doing great today. All those years of using the kicker for the carpet his knees are fine. His back has arthritis and some vertebrae's are bone to bone from all the heavy carpet he had carried for years. I make him medicine using medical marijuana and it relaxes his body and he is doing great. That's my story: thanks for reading. :)

You have to realize getting to the job site at 10:45 (a humorous exaggeration) does not take into account that they may be picking up your carpet, padding, and supplies at the warehouse before traveling to the job site. Also they may have rolls of old carpet, padding, etc. that they removed from your house the day before that they need to dispose of. All that takes time.

There are dishonest and manipulative people in this line of work, such as every other line of work, but there is a majority who take pride in their work and are hard working honest people.
Aside from that, I do highly agree this particular field of work is hard on the body. I've just got into flooring (Not as a professional or job) and did a lot of flooring for a friend's business. I've done both VCT tile and carpet tile with removing nightmare glued down carpets that were extremely rough on me. Overall, I found this sort of work to be very rewarding.

You’re actually very insulting and not true. And why are you think you need to put this garbage out on RUclips? It’s just confusing. I grew up in the flooring business. My father had morals we always went above and beyond for the customers because if you take care of the customers, they’ll be your customer for life, and no we did not get callbacks. My father guaranteed the installation for the life of the carpet. That means no wrinkles nothing coming loose. The only thing that he insisted on is that you never ever steam clean your carpet. Never been in the giant/jail, neither has my father and we always tried to talk to customer into getting new padding under the carpet because with the newer pads, the life of the carpet would actually last longer. The phone numbers that my mother and father had for the business they had them to the day they died. I’ll be there tomorrow at 8 o’clock. As far as experience installing carpet, my father had over 50 years of experience installing carpet. He started back when you did not iron. Seems all seams were handsewn I know four different locking stitches that you use for carpet installation. I have over 40 years of experience installing carpet. Carpet vinyl tile, ceramic RK battleship linoleum and the list goes on. As far as when we would show up on the job, if we made an appointment to be at your house, we pulled up in front of the house 5 to 10 minutes before we were to be there, the scheduled time, and we would knock on the door 1 to 2 minutes early. My father insisted on it. You never show up late. In my younger years, we move furniture from either room to room or outside to lay the carpet and then moved it back. And all the years of laying carpet, I never once broke a piece of furniture. Neither did my father. Never lied about the vehicle. I drove my father never lied about the vehicle. He drove matter fact, my father drove a 1968 Ford three-quarter ton pick up truck until he died and before that he had a red one. The only thing that I notice his lies is this entire video this is not true. This is not realism to the carpet layers that I know. You may have had bad experience but you’re just full of shit. You don’t know what you’re talking about. The only thing that drives me nuts about the modern carpet layers. And yes I’m sure there are some bad ones out there and you’ll find bad in any field, but the part that is the worst is they install the carpet with an E kicker they do not bring in a power stretcher, and unlike the last scene here of the gentleman, installing the carpet up to the wood strip her wood flooring With the tack strip which is actually known as tactless trip for years if you’d like to know, he has no metal down there. There is a metal that has been called gripper Ridge for years and now they call Z bar that should be down there, so the carpet is tucked in, and it comes up flush to the wood floor instead of being a drop down or raise up and it makes it look nice and it’s a professional installation. This is actually very insulting. By the way my father also invented and patented the carpet crane and he also invented and patented the carpet dolly or by Roberts it’s known as Karpet Kart, and if you’ll notice carpet cart is actually spelt with K’s because my fathers last name started with a K. His business was called Kirkpatricks carpet. Lived in a small town in California. He was called by carpet manufactures to go back to Texas, Oklahoma LA serve Dino, Northern California, Nevada to either fix, or take care of or install difficult jobs. He was a true master of the trade, and the lies that use you said is very insulting because I was trained by this man, so my personal opinion is you need to crawl back in your hole learn little more because not everything you say is true.
